I really don’t think y’all are hearing them when they say that they have been changed for good because the ending is LITERALLY Elphaba becoming Glinda and Glinda becoming Elphaba, in a sense.

Let’s go back to Defying Gravity.

The entire plot/tension is Elphaba saying f*ck this sh*t. She is sick of it. She wants no part of the Wizard’s lies or Morrible’s trickery. She wants to fight the system head on, and she’s asking Glinda to, “come with me.” She’s like fight this sh*t head on with me.

While Glinda is asking Elphaba to stay. She is saying that fighting the system head on is a losing game. She’s asking Elphaba to play along. Fake them out until the time is right.

Okay boom.

It’s the end of Wicked 2.

What does Elphaba end up doing?

PLAYING ALONG. She understand what Glinda has been saying all along. It has been nothing but a losing game for her. So, she does what Oz wants. She fakes her death. And then, only then, does change begin.

Glinda, on the other hand has just lost her best friend. The love of her life. She is now saying f*ck this sh*t. She is sick of it. She starts fighting it head on. She tells the wizard to leave. She locks Morrible in cage. She finally has so much of Elphaba’s spirit in her that even the the Grimmerie opens up for her.

The funniest aspect of movie!Wonderful is that Elphaba’s eyes are always soft and dreamy when gazing at Glinda, but the second she detects the Wizard’s presence her whole face starts varying between “how did I ever respect this guy?” and “watch it, old man, I’m in the mood for political assassination” on its level of contempt. And then there’s Glinda, who just has happy homosexual squeals going off inside her head the whole time.

it's so crazy we literally have elphaba saying i love you and glinda saying i love you too and then elphaba makes glinda hide in a literal closet while elphaba goes to "die" cuz glinda can never reveal that she loves this woman without the public turning on her and no one in popular press has asked if this is a metaphor for anything cmon people what are we doing here
