3 a.m. thought but I genuinely think most of the Jiang family dysfunction is on Madam Yu and especially Jiang Fengmian.

Like... parents are supposed to create a safe home for their kids. That is literally their job. Instead, those kids grew up surrounded by tension, resentment, comparisons, and unresolved issues.

And one thing that always confuses me is when people say, "Why didn't Jiang Cheng defend Wei Wuxian?"

...Because he was a child???

When Wei Wuxian came to Lotus Pier, Jiang Cheng was like 8?. Then he spent the rest of his childhood and teenage years in that environment. Why are we expecting an 8-year-old (or even a teenager) to fix problems created by the adults around him? And don't even get me started on poor Jiang Yanli because somehow the Jians created 3 children with completely different problems.

Jiang Fengmian was the one who brought Wei Wuxian home. That also made it his responsibility to make sure both boys had a stable environment to grow up in. Instead, he kind of just... let the situation keep getting worse.

I'm not saying Jiang Cheng never made mistakes. He definitely did. But I think people put way too much responsibility on him for things that should've been handled by his parents in the first place.

Idk. Maybe I'm overthinking fictional family dynamics at 3 a.m.

I find it funny that some people in this fandom are SO ANGRY that fictional characters they don't like are popular, so they devote entire accounts to talking about them, literally obsessing over them and spewing their hatred all day long about these characters.

And I say I find it funny, but in reality, I feel genuine pity for these obsessed people, because I think these fictional characters haunt their dreams every day, lol.

Do these people think that fans of these characters are going to stop loving their blorbos? The only thing their attitude sometimes does is make these fans start to hate WANGXIAN (collateral damage, unfortunately_ for some, but most of us still like Wangxian) and some of their toxic fans who don't allow other mdzs fans to love characters other than the main couple and the characters who were entirely devoted to them. “Daily reminder that this character sucks.” “If you want to love these characters, you have to accept that they are...” Like no, we don't have to do anything for you. Who the hell are you??

Yesterday, another post compared these people to toxic exes who can't stop talking about their former partners and talk about them all day long, and I completely agree.

Jiang Cheng will ALWAYS be the most popular side-character in terms of fanarts, discussions, fanfictions, and other fan-created content. Jin Guangyao and Xue Yang will ALWAYS have devoted fans, even though they were “mean.”

Continue to seethe. It's just funny.

And it motivates people to create even more content about these three characters.

I had a conversation with a friend who absolutely hates JC that went something like this:

"How can you sympathize with that guy?"

And my response was:

"How on earth am I supposed not to sympathize with that guy?"

I’m looking for XiCheng fanfics.

I’m relatively new to the fandom, and so far I’ve only read a few WangXian fanfics. But lately I’ve become really interested in Lan Xichen and Jiang Cheng, and I’d love to know wich fanfics are the most beloved in the community!

I read EVERYTHING, omegaverse, you name it, so don't be shy about giving recommendations.
