Lately I've asked about satire. Here it is.
(WARNING: controversial post ahead)
Yes, his music inspired many composers. Yes, his music was progressive in some way. Yes, his operas are interesting to analyze. But his personality... Let's just say, it wasn't a very pleasant one.
And this is what I can say about his personality.
and the greatest epopeya of the century."
Oh, no! It's not about myself.
About the anchor and the spirit
That puts all reason on the shelf
And wins the gold of someone with it!
Pray tell, do you recall a name
That called me weak and graphomanic?
I'd built a temple, get my fame,
And they would question all the panic...
I hold the word, the ancient word:
What art thou? Thou art so plebeian!
For years my voice was never heard,
And you recall a silent me, and
That's the reason why you're fading!
My own house! That's what I call right.
I see project, then I build it.
Of course, I'll write from night to night
To royalty, to SURELY build it.
And then, I'd ask my dearest friend
To lend me money for a garden
With peacocks on the lawn! That's it!
He'd by my theatre's own warden.
And then I'd steal all what he loves.
And it's the green he'd see forever.
And it's the cold that he adores,
'Cause gold is mine, and his is never.
I'll write a play! Who sees my sins?
I'm sure, it's gonna be no problem.
My play, MY play, it just begins,
For decades you will sit and solve it!
And it's the end of what I've done.
I'll grab my pencil, lot the candle,
And write again, "I've just begun,
I'm sure, it's you, who'd really handle
and the greatest epopeya of the century"
