I am so unbelievably tired of the Chase obsession in this fandom.
And before anyone tries to twist this, no, I’m not saying he hasn’t suffered. I know he has trauma. I know bad things have happened to him. That’s not the point. The point is that the fandom acts like he’s the only character whose suffering matters, and it’s honestly exhausting at this point.
Everyone else’s trauma gets brushed aside like it’s background noise.
JJ literally got possessed. Twice. That alone should be a massive thing to talk about, but somehow it barely even gets acknowledged while people write essay after essay about Chase’s feelings for the millionth time.
And the situation with JJ is way worse than people treat it.
In the first video he’s literally manipulated into trusting Anti before the possession even happens. It’s heavily implied that the hand giving JJ the knife is Anti. Then after JJ gets possessed, Anti doesn’t even do anything overtly violent in that moment he stops JJ’s wound from bleeding. That’s not kindness. That’s calculated manipulation.
It’s setting JJ up to trust him.
So by the time the second video happens, JJ is already in a vulnerable position, and then Anti shows up, wraps literal strings around him, and forces control over his body.
That’s not just "a creepy moment." That’s manipulation, coercion, and complete loss of autonomy. It’s psychological and physical violation of the character.
And yet the fandom barely talks about it.
Instead the conversation always circles back to Chase like the entire narrative revolves around him. It’s like people decided years ago that he’s the only character whose trauma is worth analyzing while everyone else just exists as background decoration.
And honestly? The way people portray him now doesn’t even feel like nuanced trauma representation anymore. The whole "sad divorced dad who needs everyone to take care of him" thing has been exaggerated so much that it’s basically a parody at this point.
Instead of treating him like an actual layered character with flaws, agency, and complexity, people reduce him to this helpless "uwu sad boy" who constantly needs someone to fix him.
That’s not deep character analysis.
It’s flattening him into a fandom comfort prop.
And the worst part is how this obsession shoves every other ego to the sidelines. Their arcs, their struggles, their trauma none of it gets the same attention because the fandom refuses to move past the same tired "poor Chase" narrative.
So yeah. At this point he’s become my least favorite ego.
Not because I hate him as a character.
But because the fandom’s constant need to center him and turn him into this helpless sad-boy archetype has made anything involving him completely exhausting to engage with.
