I did not want to have an opinion on the whole Team Suho and Team Seojun thing on True Beauty, I was simply watching it for Moon Ga Young and the 'magical' type direction. However, I HAVE to say that dedicating an entire episode towards Jookyung and Seojun showing how Seojun is 100 times better than Suho and then just ruining it all with the confession scene was EVIL and I will stay bitter about it😒
I’m gonna take your statement and voice my Very Unpopular Opinion about True Beauty.
Joo Kyung is literal sunshine who only wants to collect her skulls, listen to metal and not be judged for having “bad skin.” She gets to do really none of these things very often, and I’m sad because she deserves all of the happiness in the world! She has bully trauma and her family sucks so I want her to have someone who can care for her heart.
Having said that, neither guy is perfect for her in my opinion. I think they are both cute but just OK choices, but in different ways.
He knows what Joo Kyung looks like so she can be comfortable around him either way.
Because he knows her secret he can help her when she is getting bullied or her disguise is about to be blown.
They both seem to be there for one another when each of them needs it.
They share the same interests and nerd out together.
The biggest and most important pro is: She likes him!
BUT he’s very overreactive in a cold way in public, which messes with her emotions so much she’s left crying in a puddle in front of Seo Jun on the field trip.
One day he’ll stare at her or flirt intensely, and the next ignore her.
She has no idea what he’s thinking ever, because he refused to be honest with her until the very last minute (I know he had “reasons” but it is still really frustrating to watch her struggle and is kinda cruel even if he doesn’t intend it to be).
I personally crush on Hwang In Yeop the cutest 30 year old high schooler ever, so there is that.
He is honest about his feelings once he realizes them, and I appreciate that quality way more than the way Suho reacts to his own feelings.
He puts Joo Kyung’s feelings first
But he’s not that nice to her - often negging her and calling her ugly or teasing her in that annoying “I like you but have to pretend I don’t” way.
He doesn’t know her secret (though I doubt he would care cause he’s a good person most of the time) so she can’t be fully comfortable with him
They don’t share a passion for the same stuff - does he even know what she likes?
The biggest and most important con is: She doesn’t like him like that.
I guess having said that, I’m opting out of being part of a team. I really feel for Seo Jun cause I hate to see a cutie sad and it’s not like they’ve presented Su ho as amazing either. But I’m sure now that they are together it’ll be cute? I hope??
