Italian Holy Week (Sanremo) was a wild ride this year and it was about damn time for me to 1. practice drawing clothes and 2 try to draw quickly without overthinking stuff, so here is a bunch of Dominics in outfits I have liked from the co-hosts and the contestants 👌

A background? In this economy? I have no idea how to draw one but I wanted to try something new so I jsut rolled with it!

A good portion of the story is set in Edinburgh, mostly becuse it's a city I love and I have visited recently, so I'm able to picture it when I'm writing, but also because it's full of tiny alleys, and a lot of things can happen in a tiny alley.

Also, orange is most definitely not Dom's color. But look at him, being a ray of sunshine and joy for Chaz. How cute, definitely not a problem at all :)

Misplaced devotion ft. Chaz and Karim (and Dom and Ravenscroft)

A couple of things about this for context

In the story, both Chaz and Karim do horrible things for the sake of someone they love: Dom in Chaz's case, Ravenscroft in Karim's, his son. Their loyalty borders on devotion, which is why I went for the religious imagery.

Dominic is depicted like a saint because for most of the time Chaz does whatever he can to ignore his (many) faults and see him as beautiful and perfect. On the other hand, Ravenscroft is dressed as a soldier because he is a self-proclaimed general in the war between criminal organizations, and Karim supports this vision: he has no real affection for his biological father, he is just in awe of his power and longs for his approval.

Roses vs skulls: like I said before, Chaz tends to look at Dominic through rose colored glasses, separating the image of the man he loves from the image of the man who murdered his brother/joined a criminal organization/convinced him to become a hitman/is extremely jealous and possessive. Hence the red roses, quintessential symbol of love and romance but at the same time insidious for their thorns. Ravenscroft's faults are more evident, he doesn't try to hide them in any way, hence the skulls to show all the casualties his war causes.

Similarly, the two birds: Dom with the shrike, that impales his preys on spikes and thorns (the branch is holding is a reference both to this and to the roses) and Ravenscroft with the raven, that's in his name but is also often seen as a bad omen. The shrike might look cuter but at the end of the day they're both birds of prey.

Finally, the gaze of the figures on the windows: Dominic looks towards Chaz: he does love him, despite everything else, he cares about him to the point of obsession. On the contrary, Ravenscroft looks away: to him, Karim is just one of his subjects, a bright scientist part of the team working on a new, powerful drug, the fact that they are related by blood means absolutely nothing to him, in spite of Karim's best efforts.

It's Spotify Wrapped season so my OCs are getting pyschoanalized too (I had a lot of fun both trying to decide what they would listen to and replicating the graphics of dubious taste, I recommend it!)

My characters have a very healthy development throughout the story, what do you mean? :)

"There, in that bare room in the den of the wolves, Dominic looked majestic. Looming above Chaz, blocking his direct view of the lamp, the light framed his head almost like a halo, casting gold and copper highlights on his hair. The white button-down shirt he was wearing perfectly hugged his thin figure, almost as if it had been tailored specifically with him in mind. The way he stood, the way he spoke, the way he moved his hands, everything painted a picture of pride and confidence, in a way Chaz had never seen in him before. 

He had never looked more beautiful, and Chaz had never felt more terrified. 

Still, he couldn't tear his eyes away from that glorious display. 

Carefully, as if approaching a wounded animal, Dominic reached a hand down towards him. 

Bewitched, Chaz took it. "

It's the same old story, it starts with a lamb and ends with the murder of the very person you should love the most.
