“Wait, wait… Hang on, that was today?” Lila asked the other as the worry started to spread over her features. “Oh, you have got to be kidding me. Do you think you can cover for me?” 

“I mean I guess it depends on what kind of cover you want, because if you’re asking me to create some illusion form of you.” Darcy looked at the other a little wide eyed before shaking her head, “Yeah, don’t think I’m going to be able to do that.”

“Duly noted. Although I hope you don’t make that face when you do unleash your wrath, because it feels a little too cute to be wrath-worthy. But then again what do I know?” Dante shrugged playfully. “I’ll definitely be keeping out for any potential Darcy-pranks or revenge plots though,” he added with a brief laugh. “That’s quite the plan. I’ll most likely invest in a cane that I can shake when I’m grumbling at people to get off of the front lawn,” Dante added jokingly. “I mean I hear lavender’s great for that stuff, but there’s no way it’ll just cure my insomnia. Right? Surely if that was the case, lavender would be flying off of the shelves or something.”

Darcy could feel her cheeks heat up a little when the other called her cute, though she cleared her throat and tried to act like the blush wasn’t there as she spoke, “What are you talking about that was a fierce face, I could totally scare off a whole hoard of burned ones with that face.” Darcy continued, trying to make her face more menacing and adding a little growl into the mix. “I would expect nothing less of you, a cane is a must have for grumpy old men. I’ll invest in many cats who I complain to about how you don’t listen to me.” Darcy scrunched up her nose and shook her head, “No, it doesn’t cure it. I’m not sure anything does, but I’m sure there’ll be some sort of sleep potion that could at least help you get at least a few solid hours. No harm for me to ask, right?”

“Of course I know plants have magical properties, Darce. I’m just saying that those ones in particular definitely don’t,” she huffed, shaking her head. “Oh. My. God,” Maggie said, punctuating every word and pulling a pleading face. “You have absolutely got to show me these videos because now I feel like I won’t have lived without seeing them.” Maggie grinned as Darcy came to hug her, awkwardly trying wrap her arms around the bag by Darcy’s side to not disturb the kitten. “That’s a solid plan. Can we name it?”

Darcy frowned a little as she looked at the bushes and sighed, “I was hoping they’d be magical in the making cats appear way, clearly this was just a one off and they’re not going to have many animal friends. I’m sure they won’t mind though, especially if we provide them with a lot of snuggles and pets.” Darcy let out a loud laugh at the others words and nodded, “I’ll be sure to show you all the ones I have saved when we get back to our room, because they really are the best things on the internet these days.” Darcy lit up even more at the idea of naming he cat, “Of course we’re going to name it, though-... the only thing that’s coming to mind right now is Cat... Do you have any ideas?”

“Please don’t, I don’t think mud will be too easy to get out of these jeans,” he grimaced for a moment before chuckling lightheartedly. He didn’t actually care too much, especially since most clothes were just replaceable anyways. “I was out for a walk. I’m not too great at sitting in a lecture all day and then going into the next one without at least getting some fresh air, you know? How about yourself? I mean you had to be here to lose it in the first place, no?”

Darcy scrunched her nose up at the thought, “Jeans and wet mud really are the worst combination, so I’ll be nice and not subject you to such a chore.” She teased the other, nudging him ever so slightly with his shoulder. “I get it, I was just out here practicing by the water. Letting off some steam and trying to get a trick right that I’ve been struggling with in class, there are a lot less distractions out here after all.”

“Of course, of course– we couldn’t have that happening, now could we?” she tsked lightly as she played along with the other’s joke. “That’s a pretty solid start,” Marisol nodded. “I think as long as we keep her tucked in your bag and walk briskly, all should be well. If someone crosses our path and asks us too many questions, I’ll figure out a way to distract.”

“I’d be out a job and hey, since it was your idea maybe I would be inclined to give you some of the profit I make with the puppy dog eyes. You could be my manager in it all.” Darcy teased the other with a grin. “Okay, that sounds like a good plan. I feel like a spy right now, which is- pretty cool.” She bounced slightly, making sure her bag was zipped up, kitten safely inside as they moved. “I mean you’re a water fairy and I’m a light one, I’m pretty sure using our abilities either alone or together are a pretty good distraction should we need one.”

“You know as well as I do that those bushes don’t have magical properties, Darce,” Maggie said, shaking her head. She quickly burst out into smiles thinking of the kitten trying to paint. “Does this mean I get to teach it how to paint? Because that would be so cute,” Mags beamed. “I can try and have a word with them all about it, try and convince them that having an animal in our suite would only liven things up a bit without specifically saying that we have an animal in mind.”

"Are you really telling me that you don’t think plants could have magical properties, I mean you’re an earth fairy, you should believe that this is a totally plausible thing.” After all they lived in realms where magic was at it’s very core, it wouldn’t be the most peculiar thing to ever happen. “I have seen these videos on my phone where people put splodges of paint on a canvas, then in a plastic bag and then they put food on it and the kittens just-” She made a motion of paws and tiny licks to the other, “All over and it’s like they’re painting.” Darcy grinned at the other and bounced over to hug her, being mindful of the animal in question, “We can totally play it off as a campus cat, but once they see them they won’t be able to say no. They’re too cute.”

“All of this fear talk really makes me weary of your plans. Thank god April Fools is up, although something tells me you don’t need the calendar to tell you when you can prank or not,” he thought out loud, knowing that with Darcy anything was possible. “Now that you say that… I hate that I see it,” he couldn’t help but chuckle. “I mean perhaps I’d consider it, but I have a hard time enough falling asleep as night let alone in the afternoon. Not everyone is a child-senior-citizen-cat hybrid capable of sleeping on command like you.”

“As you should be, you shouldn’t just look at me and think ‘oh she’s so sweet and innocent.’” Darcy spoke in a sweet and maybe a little too sickly voice, “You should I can be a force to be reckoned with, super scary, fear my wrath.” She said, trying to pull off a menacing face but not sure if it actually landed. “But you’re right, I don’t need a calendar to plot my revenge, maybe next time you’ll learn not to laugh at me.” Darcy smiled at the other, her face brightening ever so slightly upon hearing him chuckle, “We can be old people together, you as a grumpy old man and me as a grandma who likes to bake things and knit.” She told the other, giving him a small nudge. “I could- I could help with that, you know... the sleeping. My friend is an earth fairy and I’m sure there’ll be some potion or serum or something with lavender that would help.”

“That is definitely something you should take pride in,” he smiled softly. “I bet it does. I can’t imagine your roommate is very happy when you go all glowstick in the middle of night to get a cup of water though,” he pointed out. Charlie was quite glad to have his own room, a place he wasn’t judged by anyone else and could just be himself. Having a roommate sounded terrible. “That’s very sweet of you. I can see why they don’t mind you being in there now.” He sighed, “Okay, I think I believe you.” He didn’t have any reason not to, but then he would be in a lot of trouble if she was lying. “Oh I usually only eat ones in a cone. And you know how messy they get. Not the tidiest of food fit for a prince.”

“Actually, she hasn’t complained about it. But maybe that’s because I’m happy to be her human nightlight when she needs it, that or she feels guilty about leaving pots of paint or wet paintings around our room all the time.” Though she couldn’t say she used her abilities very often in the middle of the night which ended up disturbing Maggie, it was actually pretty rare. “I’m a treat, that’s why.” She told the other, booping him lightly on the nose as she spoke. “You should do more then think you believe me, do I look like the type who enjoys getting into trouble and takes big risks? Because I’m not.” She did push boundaries every now and then, but it was never to do something that would cause harm to her or others or that were breaking the rules in a colossal way. “You make a valid point, but I don’t think anyone can judge you given we all look the same when we chose the cone life.”

“You’re right, you didn’t say anything about that,” he nodded with a chuckle after her amusing reaction to his words. “A sun with an amber gem, I feel like it could totally be that. Like I said I only saw it gleam from afar so it could’ve been anything, but it wouldn’t hurt to check after all. It’s not far, this way,” Harry said, gesturing for her to follow.

“That was all your imagination and because it was your idea, maybe I should get you to get on all fours in the mud.” Darcy told the other with a playful glint in her eye. “What were you doing out here anyways? It’s not exactly swimming season and I wouldn’t exactly call this a prime picnic spot.”

“It really sounds like you found your potential calling,” she nodded before chuckling softly. It was hard to say no to Darcy in general because of her sunny disposition, but if she flashed some big eyes and pleaded she could probably get away with anything. “Thank you, I appreciative it very much. If you need any help smuggling it in or even acquiring food or a bed or something, I guess I’d be willing to give you a hand.”

“I’ll start getting some head shots lined up, perfect my puppy dog face, just to be one the safe side- you know, in case I’m unable to produce something heart-wrenching on the day of hire.” She joked with the other, realizing that she did tend to have people say yes to her more times then not but she never thought it was done to her appearance or pleading face. She thought she just made some good and valuable points. “Me and Cat thank you- she is going to need quite a few things, but first things first is trying to get her back to my room without anyone else catching us.”

“Oh I don’t know about that,” she shrugged bashfully when Darcy seemed pretty impressed by her drawings. When asked if she could see them, Winnie shifted in her seat slightly before reluctantly sliding the book over. “I uh– sure. But don’t expect much, really it’s just me messing around.”

“You really shouldn’t downplay it, not matter your skill it’s still art and therefore still pretty darn beautiful.” She told the other, trying to repress the small excited bouncing in her seat as the other slid her sketchbook over to her. Looking at the pages she couldn’t help but smile, “These are really good, Winnie- really. I mean I can barely manage a stick person, I always see people who can draw like this and I’m amazed. I mean it’s pure talent, it’s not like something you can just learn.”

“Perhaps it’s a little bit of that,” Dante couldn’t help but jest, always enjoying getting a reaction out of the other. When she turned the tables on him and gave him a poke he swatted it away in artificial discomfort. He didn’t actually mind it, the two were often messing with one another. “What makes you think I’d scream like that? Or scream at all really? I feel like in a moment of fear, I’d be more of a shouter,” Dante reasoned. “Afternoon nap? Do you take those? I thought the only people who took afternoon naps were children, senior citizens and cats.”

“But if you’ve never actually experienced a moment of fear yet that would evoke that kind of reaction, how would you know?” Darcy pointed out to the other as she gave him a pointed look, “To me you look like a shrill screamer.” She continued to the tease the other, but in reality she imagined it would take a lot to scare the other to get that kind of reaction from him, especially he seemed to fear nothing. “Well, aren’t I just a mix of all those three things?” She questioned the other with a small laugh, “So therefore it makes sense that I do in fact take afternoon naps and honestly, if you don’t, you’re really missing out. They’re the best.”

“Oh uh– yeah it’s just a few doodles, no big deal,” Winnie shrugged lightly after being called out. She had several books open around her but the one she was supposed to be writing notes in was instead filled with various little sketches. “I’m still studying, I swear,” she added quickly as if the other would care, despite that statement being totally false.

“Psh, they totally look like more then just doodles from where I’m sat.” Darcy told the other, trying not to be too nosy or obvious at getting a look at the others notebook, but also wanting to see what the other was working on. “Can I take a look? My roommate does a lot of art and I always love seeing what she creates, suppose this is no different, just a different kind of style”

Phoebe closed her eyes for a moment and tried to stop herself from sighing too loudly. “You would make a terrible spy,” she commented as she moved closer to the blonde. “Did you at get cat food and other necessary things?” She asked, eyeing the backpack with concern.

“Believe it or not, that’s not the first time someone here has told me that.” Darcy pointed out to the other, making a note when it came to any sort of spy work or sneaking around, she shouldn’t be the one for the job. “Not yet, but I’m going to. I just thought I’d take it back to the suite and get it warm and dry first, seems like it might have been all night if not longer.”

“Of course I can. I wouldn’t want you scouring through the grass and mud on all fours just trying to find this charm,” he assured her with a light chuckle, hoping to ease her mind. “What was it even shaped like again?” Harry asked as he began to lead her over to where he was sure he’d seen something.

"Woah, I never said anything about being on my hands and knees in the mud.” Darcy commented holding up her hands for a moment, “I mean, not that I’m opposed to getting a little muddy, but I have class soon and I don’t think it’d be a good look.” She told the other, shivering at the thought of drying mud on her clothes and skin whilst she sat through a lecture. “It’s a little sun with an amber gem in the middle of it.”

“You’re like those ads on television where they show you those sad little faces and guilt trip you into giving money to these organizations,” Marisol groaned when she blonde help up the kitten. “Look– I’ll keep my lips sealed but I can’t guarantee the others will be down. As long as this little kitty doesn’t claw up any of my shit it’s fine.”

“Well, at least I’ve got a fall back career option if things don’t go my way. All the charities will be vying for my attention to help them out and of course I’ll say yes, because, y’know-... you can’t really say no to charities.” Darcy pointed out to the other, feeling like if she did in fact say no to one she’d then end up with some very bad karma. “I’ll be sure to keep it away from your belongings and I’m sure they’ll be well behaved. They look like a well behaved kitty.”

“Certainly not a laugh. I’d argue it was more of a snicker,” he replied playfully. “You’re absolutely right, I’d hate both of those things. And I guess that’s fair, keeping it mysterious is a good call. It’s the best way to keep me on my toes about it,” Dante nodded with a proper chuckle this time. “I barely sleep at night already, so thanks for this. Who needs sleep anyways, right?”

“I think snickering is even worse then laughing, it seems more cruel and at my expense.” Darcy continued to glare at the other, her arms remaining crossed over her chest. “See, as much as you probably protest, I know you.” She told the other, poking him lightly in the chest. “Exactly, makes me come across as more intimidating and you’ll never know when I’m about to strike. I look forward to hearing your scream like a little girl.” Darcy let out a small snort because she did go about bouts of not being able to sleep and always found herself in the kitchen, “People who function normally, is that why you’re always so grumpy? Because you don’t get your afternoon nap?”
