You’ll end up really disappointed if you think people will do for you as you do for them. Not everyone has the same heart as you.
(via words-of-emotion)
Loving black women also means defending them.
All Of The Above!!!
Confession: I’m waiting for the day that black women stop fighting so hard for black men. Defending them, marching for them, putting themselves in danger for them. Because in return all we receive is slander, disrespect & pain because these men want to prove their lust for another race of women who can apparently grow their hair better than us, know how to act better, know how to be “handled”. Now don’t get me wrong. I know it’s not all black men but I’m getting tired of the imbalance of loyalty. I’m getting tired of the voices of the men who do love us being drowned out. So maybe when we stop - they’ll stop. Maybe.
C: I have a GREAT confession. My husband walked into our bedroom and asked, “When was the last time you saw a movie with a black FEMALE hero?” I couldn’t think of one off the top of my head. He says, “We need more movies uplifting the black woman. She is the one who endures the most pain. She’s the one left to care for children all by herself, she’s the one who’s been raped and taken advantage of by men of all nationalities, she’s the one who’s been abused and misused. We need a black female hero who is lifted up and supported by the black man without it being an oversexual thing. We need to show the black man respecting her. I want to see our women shine.” After I picked my jaw up off the floor I gave him the biggest hug and the sweetest kiss. I’m so lucky.
Happy Native American Day!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Black women are made out of brown sugar, cocoa, honey, and gold.
