We love Wikipedia. The idea of a constantly updated knowledge base where everyone is welcome to read and contribute is staggering, and we dip into this great pool of content on an almost daily basis at 1910. However, having spent the last three years learning more about typography have made us...

You better move fast and prototype your idea in the same day. Nice talk by Paul Adam about designing web systems.
“Data beats opinion.”
But the problem is that there are not pure data. They are aggregated and processed by opinionated people.
I'm moving away from photoshop

63% of software projects exceed their budget estimates, with the top four reasons all relating to product usability: frequent requests for changes by users, overlooked tasks, users’ lack of understanding of their own requirements, and insufficient user analysis communication and understanding.

Lately I’ve been rereading “Don’t make me think”, and in my opinion, the chapter named How we really use the web is very insightful. Next I summarize some facts that I think are totally true:
Fact 1: We don’t read the webpages. We scan them.
There are reasons for doing that:
We are...
Surfing isn't thinking

Pareto principle for designers: prototype the 20% of functionality that will be used 80% of the time.
UX lesson learned: giving users immediate gratification
This is a good article from Marc Hedlund founder of Wesabe. There is a lot to learn from failure. The main reason why Marc's product fails ? His competitor focused on making the user do almost no work at all, by automatically editing and categorising data, reducing the number of fields in the signup form, and giving immediate gratification.

Registration journey: same error again and again...
Just downloaded e-commerce app. I'm already a registered user of the website: I've used FB connect to sign up the first time because is more convenient. Now I want to use the new app but to sign in it requires only login and password. The journey is broken I've never set up my password and there is no way to require it... Dear product folks please ask to set up password during the sign up process. Thx

I like this list but I'm not list addicted.
When I’m working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.
