King Magnus and Queen Deirdre of Oscana are dead. But while the kingdom mourns, war looms on the horizon. Tensions between Oscana and the neighboring kingdom of Ryhule have always been high, but there has been an uneasy peace ever since it was arranged that the Crown Princess of Oscana would wed the Crown Prince of Ryhule. Now that peace is in jeopardy because the Princess is refusing the betrothal, even as she prepares to take the throne. The court is in an uproar, secrets are spilling, war is brewing, and the future is anything but certain.
