Aaand this will be it for this year of ArtFight! Thank you everyone SO MUCH for the attacks, I spent like 80% of the month running after revenges! I never thought I'd be attacked so much and it truly saved my month <3 July was rough, getting to make and receive such amazing art made it a LOT better!
Overall I'm glad I could revenge everyone! I had SUCH A BIG ATTACK LIST and I could barely even touch it! Many targets got to me first, and I like doing Revenges (points....... I'm competitive ok) and chose to priorize them. If u didn't get something from me don't worry, I'll save my plans for next year >:3

Art ramblings under the cut! About things like The Art Process, things I learned about, and Grass.
Man I really am NOT consistent AKSPAKSPAKS
Can't complain tho! I did pick this year to experiment more with processes. Like, when to stop with the lineart and jump into painting, when to paint over the lineart, merge everything and paint above it, layer effects, harsh shadows only vs softer shadows and all that.
Def learned a LOT. I don't usually paint my own art as much as these, so ArtFight always pushes me when it comes to Color in general. Some processes I think worked for me better than others. Sometimes I felt like I was running on ice, the hours going by but the painting remained stuck. Other times I blacked out and the result turned out surprisingly good.
I also feel like Likeness is a weak point of mine. I struggle with it even with my own characters! (Lucian's face is my personal nightmare) Also, I *somewhat* feel like I have a certain Style when it comes to Faces (big eyes........) and def need to work on adapting it to better suit some faces and even painting finishes.
It didn't help that my month was fairly chaotic work-wise, and I was sick like half of July, so I was never sure of how many Hours I could spend in one painting. I also don't like leaving a painting on standby for too long (like too many days), because when I return to it, often I feel the urge to correct everything and/or start again and thus it never gets done!
Even now I wish to return to some attacks/revenges and paint them better!! But then again I always feel like that even a day later.
I'll choose to believe this means I'm improving with each piece that gets finished!
(def not issues with perfectionism. Of course. I would never. Pft.)

I liked doing couples quite a bit, and these are some of the best clothes I've ever draw xD James is always with like a t-shirt or shirtless, so it was good practice! I feel like I understand suits so much better now... shirt collars still bug me tho.
I also NEVER bother with background or scenery, so it too was a learning curve! Def need to learn where to focus my efforts with them. Like, on @/ulysses000 revenge I painted every. single. little grass.
Those are not a brush. Each little grass bead it a brushstroke. Why? WHYYY DID I DO THIS, only for later struggle with the light so so much, I could've spend longer with like, the nighttime-under-starlight part and less in the GRASS
oh, well. Wishing myself some better FOCUS next year!!

James is my VTM PC and Lucian is his sire. Their relationship only grows more intense with time–and here, their bond was sealed even deeper than the Embrace itself. To James, the tattoos they made were, yes, a mark of compromise. Of mutual possession. But he didn’t quite realize what it meant for his sire–how much more serious Lucian considered this ritual to be.
James belongs to me and Lucian too, although he’s played by my beloved ST B. <3
(to those not into VTM both OCs are vampires! And Lucian is the one who turned James into a vampire.)
James is my VTM PC, but here, he was still human. And his lover was saying goodbye for reasons unknown to him–just when it seemed their relationship would become stable, serious… Richard left, and James, confused and alone, never quite healed from this heartbreak.
Both James and Richard are my OCs~ and here they’re both human!
(Later, James was embraced, and Richard’s fate is now on my ST hand’s)
(If someone follows my OCs, yes, Richard and Lucian do look alike. James has a type.)
James is my VTM PC and Lin is his unlikely Garou friend! Their relationship sprouted very much on it’s own–Lin often deals with vampires and James often deals with whoever will have him, and so they became allies. Despite light flirting going around, they’re very much just friends who sometimes kiss for sport~

MY FIRST ENTRY into OC Kiss!! I got overly excited and did all themes in a antibiotic-induced frenzy because I’m sick and that means Obsessing about Blorbos time <3
James is my VTM PC and Dorian is his very mortal enemy. They have all the reasons in the world to absolutely hate each other. After all, Dorian's beloved partner of over 200 years abandoned him in order to embrace James, despite their mutual promises of never siring a childe. James, too, hates Dorian--for daring to still have any kind of hold over his sire.
It should be just hatred between them.
And yet…
James belongs to me and Dorian to my beloved ST B. <3
After years without really seeing each other for long, one night, James comes into his dingy apartment, and his sire, Lucian, is there.
They talk. It's hard--to sit besides the man James knew his entire life, but who now feels like a stranger.
Yet, when Lucian leaves, James realizes his entire tiny home now smells like his sire. Lucian's perfume has been very purposefully impregnated into the entire place.
Amber.
And that is a scent James has know his entire life--lingering in his lungs when they part ways. A scent which never changed--a signature, a mark of ownership.
Lucian's antics weren't needed, James thinks. This isn't a scent he managed to get rid of even with all those years of distance.
It has been etched far too deep, and it now stains his every breath--as artificial as they may be in death. After all, Lucian's very blood now runs in James' veins--powering each beat of his dead heart.
It's as comforting as is suffocating.
Another oldie drawing! Over two years old. I spruced it up in terms of finishing (noise layers my beloved!) but kept the drawing itself the same.
Scents and their meaning are a little nice theme in our chronicle, and I chose Amber for Lucian somewhat impulsively--my ST asked in the middle of the scene what Lucian smelled like, and I chose my favorite scent. Later, James quite purposefully goes to a perfume shop and chooses his own--one which just so happens to harmonize well with Amber.
"Three vampires walk trough the mud, slowly marching towards a beached ship. They don't know what curses lie ahead. No sound can be heard except their own steps--no insects, no birds, no frogs. Only the rain hitting against the decaying hull.
James looks over his shoulder, his instincts screaming at him that there's something even wronger other than the obvious.
He's the one who notices their footsteps slowly being eaten back into the wet sand. Disappearing. Leaving behind no track of their presence... no signs of their disappearance.
Still, they keep going.
In the distance, the Sea Baroness awaits."

This is one of the very first drawings I made for our VTM table! It's been over two years since James became my PC (and my obsession). It feels much longer.
I didn't feel like redrawing it, since it feels a little like an artifact of its time (so much changed since them!) so I just added some more finishing effects and kept the original drawing as is. The background is kind of a paintover-photobash from the handouts my ST made for us--I almost repainted it entirely, but then again, it'd kind of write over the moment where it all began, in a way. So I kept it too.
The other two chars are other PCs which belonged to their respective players. James (mine) is the one in the middle. The setting (and setup) (and my nightmares caused by it) belongs to my beloved ST B.
Maybe one day I'll draw the Fae which almost ate James in that ship \o/ what a crazy ass timeline it would be if I had lost him there and had to make another PC right at the start xD

Hi!! On the subject of OC asks and Fashion stuff please please could you rant about your process? I'm such a DUMMY about fashion and styles and dressing up my characters is ALWAYS a struggle, I don't even know what to google to get better? I usually go by vibes and depend on pinterest ;u;
I feel it's such a valuable skill to like, costume design? make someone's clothes say something about them? but like howwwww
HAI YES HELLO THIS IS MY SPECIALTY
when it comes to my ocs, i try to figure out what kind of character they are and who they try to present themselves as!! and also, be a chronic pinterest user like me LMAO personally i use pinterest for a lot of inspo work but i do find myself bookmarking outfit checks from creators across tiktok and instagram that sort of give me vibes of my ocs.
there are layers to this; first you’re gonna figure out what your oc presents themselves as. not who they are, but what they appear to be since fashion has always been a sort of statement to the world about who you are whether that is true or not
for vivienne for example, he presents himself as intimidating and just pure “fuck with me and you die” vibes, hence all the black and dark colours alongside some metallic/silver details sprinkled throughout. despite the corporate style he has due to being a ventrue, there’s a bit of “edge” to his outfits which gives off the impression that he isn’t like most others in his clan
and then we have eva (vtmb tremere) who is, at heart, a scientist and a creature. unlike vivienne, eva isn’t social at all. there’s no aspect of presentability, it’s more on comfort and reliability hence all the big coats i put eva in. while still retaining dark colours, eva’s style is more “distressed” and more messier—because eva doesn’t care about what people see them as. they care more about what they do
but of course, i know this much due to me being interested in fashion as a way of storytelling for basically years now, way before i even got into wod LMAO but here is a playlist for fashion in media! this is mostly about women’s fashion, however, i feel like you can definitely apply knowledge onto male characters too
if you’re willing to take it a step further, i recommend downloading the vogue app and just scrolling through collections every once in a while. OR be very very up to date with high fashion as haute couture often tell stories (i recommend starting with john galliano or robert wun, probably my favs out there)
and also, always feel free to be inspired by other creators or be inspired from the most silliest things LOL noah sebastian definitely influenced much of eva and vivienne’s style
