The Edinburgh Festival was brilliant. We saw Shirley Gnome, and fell in love with her. Loved Best of the Fest - Joe Lycett was hilarious.

We went to see the David Bowie exhibition at the V&A for my birthday. It's as brilliant as everyone says. I now own more Bowie postcards than a person should. In the queue, I spotted Michael Caine, in his previous life as 'Dr Edward Archer' as imagined in 1781 by sculptor Joseph Wilton.

Bournemouth in July. Love the rainbow beach huts. Beautiful days and blue skies. First time I've swum in the sea in Britain since I was about 8 years old. As a northerner it pains me to say, but the south coast wins the summer beach prize.
