They Should Fear Me
Sorry it took so long I’ve just started my exams and I’m slowly dying from a combination of the stress and the cold. I hope you like it.
Silence hangs heavily in the air. Your rapid breaths are visible in the icy air as you slowly lean around the corner to peer down the darkened hallway. A light flickers at the end, the plastic casing of the light hanging precariously from the ceiling. The door is closed and the bars held together by a bicycle chain. Discarded chairs, books, and broken desks litter the hallway as you slowly round the corner quickly glancing down the opposing corridor only to see a black mass hunched over. Your heart jumps into your throat as you see a pale hand seemingly reaching towards a blood-stained knife as a black substance runs out of gashes running along the wrists.
Taking a slow step forwards, away from the wall you had previously been clutching to get a closer look at the dark figure but as soon as it comes into focus you wish you had just ignored it. The bright green hair and unseeing eyes were unmistakably that of your love. An uncontrollable gasp escapes your lips and the masses head snaps towards yours. Its menacing features twisted into a snarl bearing it.s pointed yellowing teeth dripping black blood as its glowing red eyes settle on your frame.
Frozen in fear a single tear rolls down your cheek as a spine-chilling snarl escaped the creature and shook you to the core. A distant voice echoes in your ear the words spoken are indistinct but oddly familiar.
The creature stalks towards you a predatory look in its unwavering eyes as you try to open your mouth to scream but your body refuses to obey your pleading. The voice once again reverberates in your ears this time louder but still, you are unable to make out the words spoken.
As the creature gets closer your heart beat and breathing rate increases until you feel like your chest is going to cave in on itself. Again the voice echoes. but. this time the voice is distinguishable.
“Y/N,” the voice calls. It is undeniably familiar but it’s impossible. Anti’s dead. The beast killed him.
‘I must be losing it,’ you think to yourself still gripped by fear.
‘Wake up. It’s not real,’ the voice calls again. The creature is now right in front of your face. It’s breath blowing your hair backward as one of its claws drags down your torso. Blood pools on the floor at your feet and yet you feel nothing. Not the pain from your wound. Not the breath of the beast on your face. Not even the ground beneath your feet. And in that moment you shoot up into a sitting position.
Before you can get a handle on your reality a pair of warm arms surround you and green hair is tickling your ear. The seat of your jeans is soaked through by the rain that had fallen earlier and a sharp rock dug into the small of your back.
“What happened?” you murmur arms coming up around the neck of your assailant your breathing and heart still rapid from your unconsciousness.
Anti replied his accent thicker than usual conveying his distress, “I don’t know. You just collapsed. I didn’t know what to do. Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” you reply, “I just need some sleep I guess.”
“Why?” He pulls back resting his hands on your shoulders his glowing green eyes scanning your face. “Haven’t you been sleeping?”
You quickly avert your eyes tangling your fingers together os you bite the inside of your lip. That was all the answer he needed as he gently stood up and scooped you up bridal style.
Startled you began to squirm exclaiming, “What are you doing?”
He begins to walk along the path careful not to jostle you too much whilst also subduing your movements with ease. “We are going home and you are going to sleep. Coffee can wait.”
You begin to protest, “But I don’t want to sleep.”
He slows his pace looking down at your face. Realization sweeps his expression. He presses his soft lips to your forehead before picking up his pace.
“You know I love you right,” he murmurs as though afraid another dark entity would hear and hurt you. You nod your head in reply leaning it against his shoulder to get comfortable.
“Then you should also know that nothing will hurt you as long as I am around. Nothing. You don’t need to fear anything or anyone. If anything they should fear me,” he whispers to you as your consciousness swims and you slowly sleep into your first peaceful slumber in weeks, your dreams filled with a certain glitchy entity.
