Me this week
Hi everyone.
I made a post about my diagnosis almost a year ago now. It’s wild.
Well. I’m still autistic and am still pretending to live a very neurotypical life with a neurotypical job, family, and relationship. Having the diagnosis has made some aspects of my life easier and others not so much.
I’m going to take a chance here to solve one of my biggest problems: I need to make some autistic friends who are willing to just be themselves with me and that are okay with being themselves back. With where I am living currently I haven’t been able to connect with any autistic folks.
I’m sort of weird and have special interests that are sort of all over the place but I’m sure we’d find something in common. At least I hope.
A little about me:
-married to a neurotypical
-dog mom
-23
-grad student
-confused with the world 100% of the time
-Harry Potter, Cartoons, Bees, Sustainability, Disney, Fashion, and coffee are kinda my thing
Uh so hi Tumblr.
I’m kinda new to tumblr an don’t really know what I’m doing but here it goes, I guess.
So I was recently (officially) diagnosed with asd type 1 as an adult which was very much a lol-what-oh-wait-everything-makes-sense-now experience. I had one of those “but you seem normal” childhoods so I didn’t actually have someone say “well maybe you should get an evaluation” until I was 22. It’s only been a few weeks since and it’s been pretty difficult.
I didn’t really start feeling optimistic about everything until I logged on here and started reading about everything y’all have to say. I have a lot to learn about all this (I’ve always been a social justice advocate but some of things that I’ve read this far has shown me I have so much more to learn) and I’m so happy that you all have taken the time to post. It’s helping me so much.
Words can’t describe how much I appreciate you all. Thank you.
