“Can’t go to my place, I’m making poison in my kitchen.”
“ … please tell me you’re kidding… ” what with tokoyami’s straight face and his sometimes unpredictable sense of humor, it was difficult for shouji to gauge if this was meant to be a joke or he was doing something else he wanted to cover up.
@darkshadcw. wtf.
shouji:
it wasn’t something he would want anyone to witness, what tokoyami had seen, but it was an eventuality with becoming a hero. shouji was lucky to have only lost a dupli hand instead of one of his main ones. he should have talked more with the other afterwards, should have cleared more of the air after things calmed down. but they didn’t get the chance then and it was only put off for longer afterwards.
shouji shook his head when the apology was given and placed a hand on the other’s shoulder, squeezing it.
“ it’s fine. but i don’t want you to worry about it too much. ”
there’s a fleeting moment of silence as tokoyami took in what shouji said to him, a bit moved by the direct remark. it was almost as if he knew exactly how to make the avian feel better ( or temporarily relieved of the anguish ) by just a couple of words. he had always admired him for his simplicity. few managed to read him so easily. eventually he averted his gaze downward and gave a single solemn nod in agreement. it was easier said than done but he would certainly try not to harp on the past, if not for himself then for his friend’s sake. of all titles, a burden was one he did not relish in.
❛ i understand; thank you. ❜
there’s a pause, a moment in realization.
❛ . . . for everything, i mean. ❜
fluffy starter for @ojimashi
he was beginning to regret his decision to be so bold. not that it was always a bad thing of course-- most memorable people in life shared those traits. but tokoyami as an individual was not often this way, more often than not choosing to keep to himself over any sort of forward actions. today, however, he wanted to try, despite his fleeting thoughts filled with doubt. be still, anxious butterflies! your overwhelming notions will draw to a conclusion soon enough.
swallowing thickly, he allowed himself only a moment of preparation before he approached ojiro, a small bag in hand. it wasn’t clear what the contents were just yet but he held onto it tightly, perhaps afraid of accidentally dropping it. though there was quite some noise from neighboring classmates, tokoyami’s voice was low, a bit hesitant.
❛ sorry to be of a nuisance, ojiro. but i was wondering if we could have lunch together today. ❜
ochako:
She feels him tense up initially when she wraps her arms ‘round him, but at the same time, she doesn’t let go. Something about the situation just prevents her from letting go of her friend. She can’t even begin to imagine how it must’ve felt to have been almost kidnapped by the villains.. the same villains who she’d fought. Despite acting as fearlessly as she did, she’d be lying if she said that she wasn’t absolutely terrified.
Once he spoke, however, all of the noises of the world seemed to come flooding back to her, && she could finally hear what was going on around them. The sounds of the sirens, the policemen && women talking to all of the students, the paramedics rushing around applying care to those who’d sustained injuries during the events.
Yet, feeling how tense he was, she couldn’t bring herself to let go. Finding words that would be appropriate for the situation was hard… What could she even say that wouldn’t sound ridiculous? She just wanted to comfort her friend. Ever since they had worked together during the sports festival, she’d always considered him to be one of her friends, even if they didn’t get too many opportunities to talk to one another.
“Of course I do,” She said at last, after what felt like an eternity’s pause. “You’re my friend, and I want to make sure that you’re okay,” When she finishes speaking, she gives him a slight squeeze, as if reassuring her decision.
he felt her physically-- he knew she was there, holding him, but he didn’t feel present; it was a strange notion, a disconnection that made him rather numb, the only thing keeping him aware being his crazed train of thoughts that didn’t seem to slow. despite ochako’s well intent it stirred up a horrid feeling of regret in his gut, a sudden wave of awareness of just how unworthy he was, of all of this. he didn’t deserve his friends or their well-intent or to be here, without a single scratch on his body, while his friends were hurt in more than one way. he should have done more, more self control or strength or just anything at all to change the course of events that happened because it was all his fault his fault that trouble began to stir create attention from the villains he was a burden to this place this school his friends was he even a hero if he couldn’t save his own friends--
tokoyami felt his breath hitch for a moment and he immediately focused all attention and remaining energy into keeping himself quiet.
he is hesitant to speak, or reply, because he isn’t sure how his body in turn might react. he doesn’t know how to communicate his feelings properly, given that his one greatest fear has finally come true. when he finally does say something it comes out much, much more timid than he intended.
❛ i’m okay. ❜
mainframe:
was he flattered? it might have been tokoyami’s usual disposition towards pro heroes, but she could feel a subtle degree of gratitude and humble modesty coming from him. a gaze that spoke a thousand emotions, yet was utterly silent. perhaps that was her own intuition speaking. perceptive in everyone except herself, caroline found it easy to get an inkling of what other people felt.
eyes followed the boy’s fingers. he appreciated the book. her smile widened for only a moment upon seeing it. was he sentimental over physical books? now that she had seen him like this, she could picture him huddled in a musty library for days on end - his own paradise, no doubt. how many thoughts ran in his head? how many thoughts in hers? he was one of the most mysterious students in 1-a. one that she felt humbled by meeting. compared to him, she was just a plain little girl trying her best.
in a way, that helped her speak to him. she didn’t know why. perhaps it was dark shadow, or it was his modesty, or some other quality he had that helped with the anxiety niggling at the back of her mind. he sees how plain and boring you are, her mind would rattle. he probably thinks you’re better off with the suit on, she tried to shut out. perhaps the antics helped ignore that.
a giggle came out of her mouth.
dark shadow’s retort was received well. the smile on caroline’s lips lingered still, and the giggle was undeniably amused - neither forced nor nervous.
“ it’s alright. please, d-don’t worry about it, hehe. ” knees drew close to her chest, arms folded softly at the caps with head turned to tokoyami. “ that just means he likes reading as much as you do. hehe… i find it cute. but, ” she pretends to pout, though she can’t keep up the silly guise for long and keeps on smiling, “ you can’t just say that i’m wrong, dark shadow. it’s not considerate of the other person. ”
her soft laugh takes him away from the moment, and he found himself observing her from the corner of his eye. she seemed sincere, pretty friendly from the looks of it as well-- it didn’t bother him of course, since most of his companions happened to be very friendly. much more so than what he was used to, in the very least. kindness went a long way in an otherwise disapproving and cruel world that they all lived in, forced to suffer in eternal silence until the end of days. as a result tokoyami spent a brief bit appreciating her sentiment as dark shadow, in turn, scoffed at mainframe’s comment directed to them.
❛ Everybody is entitled to their own opinions! Just like how I’m allowed to think you’re wrong. ❜
an immediate squint is directed to dark shadow on tokoyami’s behalf, an annoyed stare that suggests his disapproval. dark shadow, in return, didn’t seem too fazed by it, possibly ignoring him. how crude of them-- they were often fairly blunt, but their inability to hold back their remarks was even worse at night. a slight sigh escaped tokoyami, who shifted in his seat so he could sit up properly, returning his attention once again to the elder.
❛ don’t listen to them. they are just mad that they can’t read. ❜

shouji:
“ you don’t need to keep worrying about my arm. ” ever since tokoyami witnessed one of his dupli hands being severed, the other seemed to watch him and worry, as if one of them would fall right off in the next moment. he should have mentioned his regenerative abilities earlier, that the extra hands could grow back. but that was in the past now.
it’s difficult to draw his attention away-- his gaze remain latched onto one of shouji’s limbs, absurdly still, silent in deep contemplation. he doesn’t mean to stare of course; tokoyami knew better than that, and he hated coming off rude. but his mind raced with thoughts of guilt and embarrassment, vivid reminders of the unfortunate events that occurred within what felt like mere seconds ago. it plagued his mind . . . shouji shouldn’t have gotten hurt to begin with.
his friend’s voice brought his attention back to the present and he glanced up to the other male. if he was startled, he certainly tried his best to mask it, hands habitually moving to adjust the collar of his shirt.
❛ i’m sorry. ❜

shigaraki:
the bird blanks, but so do you. unsure of how to parse this information given in such profuse and earnest bulk as you glower at the child with a thumb rubbing at your chin, fingers raking from side to side. you decide to review the key points.
the bird was definitely the pet, being bullied into rob zombie merchandise by his own shadow.
the bird seemed to be weak at heart. he is holding a rob zombie t-shirt.
the bird did not have an inkling of a thought about who you were, as he approached you with a rob zombie t-shirt in hand.
the bird is staring at you. you are staring at the rob zombie t-shirt. the shadow wants it.
` yeah. `
without hesitation (your response irritates you, why’d you say that? just say no and ignore the bastard.) you pop the false positive, dropping your hand to within your hoodie once more. another awkward silence.
` rob zombie. `
it meant to come out as a question, maybe are you gonna get that? need help with sizes? maybe even a i’m on break. but you are staring at the merchandise, almost following your strange question(statement) up with TEENAGE NOSFERATU PUSSY, I AM THE SICKNESS as you read it to yourself.
ah, so that’s what this shirt was. he was not familiar with this . . . group? band? whatever it was, he appreciated the assistance from this clearly knowledgable employee, truly a rarity in itself, a source of hope in a bleak and fruitless world. perhaps this individual will get a raise for their excellent customer service. tokoyami will certainly have to leave a word of praise to the manager later on that day. he gave a bit of a nod in appreciation, before replying back in a volume barely audible above the loud sound of mid-2000s pop rock.
❛ thank you, we’ve-- . . . rather, i have been having some trouble deciding what to pick. this sale is a wild spectacle to behold. ❜
at the time being dark shadow had grown a bit silent, watching the pale figure. it didn’t clearly bare any expression but if they could it would show one of curiosity; they wanted to know if the employee liked the shirt too, because if they liked it as well then that would be a better excuse for tokoyami to buy it. dark shadow liked to have things done their way.
ochako:
“ Are you kidding ? Yeah ! I get that U.A is pretty course heavy, but besides school I’m not really doing anything. Maybe we could go to the new bakery that opened up at the shopping district ? It’s dirt cheap, and tasty too ! ” Ochako pumped her fist into the air some, albeit in a manner that showed reservation. She did so to avoid hitting any student that was seated on the couch behind them.
She hadn’t been entirely clueless to his staring, but she assumed it was because she had called him ‘ cool ’. Uraraka knew people didn’t always get to hear the compliment they worked hard for, and considering it costs exactly $0.00 to be kind, Ochako refused to stifle her healthy encouragements. Besides, Tokoyami was an admirable force, why would she hold back on letting him know just that ?
“ Oh, wait- I didn’t even let you suggest anywhere you’d like to go ! If you don’t like sweets, we can pick somewhere else, I’m not fussy. ”
he observed in patient contentment as the brunette expressed her ideas, suddenly aware of her small mannerisms. though they still had to be rather quiet her wide smile made her excitement apparent, and tokoyami could not help but revel in that sort of positivity. it wasn’t something he was terribly used to; while he was drawn to darkness, brightness was equally admirable as well. two sides of the same coin.
his free hand lifted to adjust the collar of his cloak, pretending to contemplate his decision-- he already knew he would have fun with ochako regardless of where they went, because quite frankly he appreciated being offered to go anywhere. independence was good, of course, but sometimes it was nice to feel wanted.
❛ i do indulge in sweets from time to time, though it depends on the type . . . i would highly enjoy this journey to the bakery with you, thank you. ❜
why have we stopped wearing cloaks and capes. this is ridiculous. the human race is a failure
