Schoep, a 19 year old dog, is taken into the lake every night by his owner, John, to help soothe his arthritis and help him fall asleep.
more Zeck.
That Kraven/Spider-Man arc back in the day was the shit.
Totally.
IMHO, it is one of the best webhead story arcs of all time. And it is pretty much the only reason people remember Kraven the Hunter at all.
The colors on Spidey coming out of the grave are from the Marvel Premiere Classic hardcover reprint, and Richard Isanove did a hell of nice job on them.
Zeck is one of those artists from the ‘80s whose work looked great back in the day, and recoloring it with modern techniques does not hurt it in anyway. I’d love a one-shot reprinting Zeck’s best covers, with all new colors by modern guys. Imagine Dell'Otto painting over his Punisher cover pencils? They’re already great, but Dell'Otto or Marte Gracia would make them look AWESOME.
I mean no offense to Phil Zimelman, that guy rules. His colors are a lot like Fastner and Larson’s though. They have this glossy, airbrushed look that dates the artwork, and actually takes away from the ferocity of some the action. At least IMHO, anyways.
Legendary.
