I was rereading the comic and realized that I just couldn't help but do something with these characters. So I sat down and speedran this animation in 4 days. I've never drawn anyone from Invincible before, so I know their faces are not always very consistent 👍
a little fun fact: as much as I know my English is around B1-B2, and usually that's enough to read fan comics, but not in this case. The first time I read this one, I felt so stupid, I didn’t understand a lot of expressions and words that characters used. So during following rereads, I sat there with a notebook and a translator. Now I know what FUBAR, headshrinkers, subterfuge, and cadence mean. Comics reading has never been so productive :'D

i’m very thankful that enjoying sports has given me the opportunity to not only regress as a person but also be angry about something , consistently, all year round
Gonna ramble about my love for Vendetta Leon's design for a bit... Take all of this with a grain of salt, since some of these points could easily be argued for his other designs as well (like Damnation), I'm just doing this for funsies.
I know we all love to joke around about his Vendetta version being the 'ugliest' one of the bunch, and we do it lovingly, but I actually love this version of his because he does not look like his best, prettiest self (like, say, his ID version is). Instead, he's visually rough around the edges, and it's even directly connected to him being very much not okay mentally when you take a good look at him. Love seeing that reflected in his design, even if it's subtle.
His hair is visually flatter than it usually is: it looks dry, the cut uneven, his neck scruff looking especially sad and lifeless... Even his left side obstructs his eyesight, which usually isn't the case for him!
All of this is is especially noticeable when you compared him to his DI look:
Vendetta Leon obviously hasn't been keeping up on his haircare for a while for it to get all messy like this, just letting it grow out and do its thing. Honestly, I bet if you were to run your fingers through it, it'd be dry and greasy as hell, especially at the ends. His right side bangs look especially poor. The man is in desperate need for a haircare night.
His stubble being at its most prominent too, with him clearly not bothering to shave for some time. He really does look like he's spent a good few days (at the least) not taking care of himself at all. I wonder if he even showered all that much. Add his drinking to this, and he probably stinks like hell. Pretty much everything about him screams: 'I am not okay'.
And him looking noticeably skinnier than normal, too...
His design reflects his state of mind so well, and I love it for that. He looks a mess. But that's the point. Just like his head is a massive mess as well. Pretty fitting, all things considered.
i feel so represented watching resident evil vendetta and seeing leon get day drunk and when denied another bottle proceeds to pull out a flask that guy just gets me you know?
Me, after reading that in the Resident Evil Vendetta novel there is a whole scene with Leon and Chris where they talk about their emotions and how the events of Re6 affected them, realizing how similar they are. Chris talking about how Leon used to be funny, and Leon saying that nobody liked that, or at least not him. Chris saying that after China, he thought about quitting and Leon is surprised by that. Leon saying how others saw him differently after shooting the president. And that whole beautiful scene was REMOVED FROM THE DAMN MOVIE.
