For the topic of travel I visualised my metro, tube, plane, bus, dlr, and overground journeys in the last week of August. Since I was quite busy after returning from my holiday travels I went for a low effort animation without sound this time.

I documented all my outfits worn over the course of a week and illustrated them in minimal pixel art. Since it was the height of summer it’s mostly thin and short clothing to wear at home.

I happened to go on holiday for one and a half weeks in Spain. So I captured the amount of different clothes I packed for the trip. I decided to visualise them in a drawing of one of those items - a stripy dress I bought in London.

I decided to focus on my facial skin and kept track of my usual skincare routine. It’s split into a morning and evening routine, with some steps that are always done (e.g. cleansing and moisturising), steps that are done only 2-3 times a week (exfoliating), and steps that are only done if I’m going outside (sunscreen) or wearing make up (foundation).

Another monochrome graphic this week: For the theme of greetings I thought about what greetings consist of. A combination of gestures – handshakes, bows, hugs etc. – and words. I thought about which I’ve used in my life so far, which language greetings I use the most. I didn’t include time specific greetings like “good morning” but different versions of phrases (formal vs. informal etc.) The result are 75 possible combinations of greetings.

I’m usually already pretty diligent about money I spend and keep track of it, but this week I was extra diligent by noting every item I paid for in a spreadsheet. I was especially interested in how much money I “saved” by buying things on discount. I’m already such a frugal person but putting it into data was fascinating: I literally spent 112,36€ less by buying discounted things during 13 days. That kind of money makes a huge difference! Also, seeing how much money I spent on what kind of items and how often I buy them is very insightful.

In the week of pain I didn’t encounter much physical pain but one day when walking home from work I had this emotional pain I get sometimes. It feels like I can feel the weight of the whole world in my heart and my heart sinks down in my body and leaves my head empty. I tried to capture this in this little walk cycle.
