Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.
the beautiful part about tshd is that nobody is in the same genre as far as they're concerned. "hikaru" is in a romcom. yuki is in a high school yuri and asako is her other lead. asako herself is in dandadan as momo. maki is in a sports anime and just got benched from the big game. tanaka is in the tv show supernatural. and yoshiki. yoshiki is in the summer hikaru died.
god. shinzo abe got his shit wrecked by a goddamn doohickey but the lethal gunshot wound capital of the world cant aim for shit. what the fuck is the second amendment even for
I just learned that in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the problems that Miis have that you have to solve (formerly called Problems) are now called Ponderings. So in light of that
I always wanted to be the guard that tells only lies
I mean I've actually never wanted to be that.
Stupid stupid stupid. C'mon. At this rate I'll never be a lie guard.
Kill them with kindness? No. Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv Shiv
A what…
Call me whatever names you wish, but I think this is a much better (and healthier) attitude than “anyone under 18 should never be allowed to see any sexual imagery ever”
(For reference: this was at the Tom of Finland exhibition, containing actual, queer, kinky af pornography. There were definitely some young people there, perhaps in their late teens. There was even a parent with their baby who was probably too young to understand anything at all. And guess what, all those people are probably going to be fine.)
[ID: a sign saying “Please note: there is no age limit, but the exhibition is not recommended for children due to the explicit sexual imagery it contains. Parental or guardian discretion is advised.”]
Hey this is a pretty cool approach maybe we should take that to the Internet instead of trying to invade the privacy of millions of adults because some parents can't parent their kids
actually hate that the bodys response to anything is nausea. ate too much? nauseous. ate too little? nauseous. an imaginary threat got you scared? be nauseous. on your period? you guessed it. sawed into your hand and need to go to the emergency room? perhaps throwing up into your open wound will be of help
this pet adoption database has insane website design choices
I've never read Homestuck but there's a type of media that I call "a Homestuck" and I think it's a useful categorization. The main criteria are:
long enough that the time investment is a serious barrier to entry
irrevocably changes your personality
brings something genuinely unique to the table. there is no real substitute for reading/playing/watching it in its entirety
Fate/Stay Night is a Homestuck. Worm is a Homestuck. When They Cry is a Homestuck.
Undertale has cultural impact similar to a Homestuck at first glance, but the fact that it's a pretty short and accessible game means that you don't get the particular mix of sunk cost fallacy and an intimate experience with a piece of media that results in you needing to connect with others who have already put in the time investment. You can buy your friends Undertale and expect them to play it if they're not too busy; telling a friend to read Homestuck is giving them a quest that, if accepted, will spark an odyssey. to read someone's Homestuck is an act of love without true equivalent.
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure, especially if you decide to get up to date with the Manga.
it’s not weird to find fanfiction from 2021, or 2017, or 2014 that you’ve never read and actually taking your time to read it.
it’s not weird to love it and comment and leave kudos because the author will probably still see it someday and it will make them happy.
it’s not weird to like said author’s work so much that you want to go look for other fics from them.
it’s not weird to go through the authors profile and look for other fics from the ships you like (or maybe some that you’ll give a chance because you liked the author) and maybe bookmark them for later.
it’s not weird to read these other fics and like them too and comment on them because you actually like them and you want to let the author know.
it’s not weird to read fanfiction from 5, or 8, or 10 years ago and actually enjoy and engage with it because it’s perfectly normal to relate to something that’s less than a decade old!
let’s stop treating fanfiction like they’re instagram posts that stop being interesting in 24 hours! fanfiction is NOT social media, fanfiction is art!!! and art doesn’t get old in one day, one year, or even a decade!
read fanfiction! write fanfiction! comment on fanfiction! let’s not let fanculture die people!!!!!
I've sent emails to ppl from x-files fansites that stopped being updated in like 2005 because I liked their fics and let me tell you the one person who did reply was ECSTATIC their fic was still being read in 2026 and sent me a bunch of pics of cool memorabilia they'd collected over the years
I have English language fics going back to 2008. If someone commented on those now... Okay, first I'd be mortified, because those seem really bad now, from where I'm standing. But I'd also be ECSTATIC that people still find joy in them.
