🌋 – The woman tosses her head back and laughs, amused by his mirth and words. With a light touch of her hand on his, she looks to him and smiles. “I would never betray you in such a way, amicus.” Her gaze wanders to the shore again, watching the setting sun over the sea, enjoying the peace and quiet. “I am certain they will all drop whatever they have going if you tell them of this island, and the plan to watch Magnum PI.”

🌋 – Amara was disheartened and felt guilty, now that she knew that Emma thought he was alive and free. She took upon herself to make sure he wasn’t hurting anyone before. She neglected her duty. “How do you propose we do that? He never really stayed down for long.” She was glad he’d been alive when Selene put her ploy to resurrect dead mutants to use them. She shivered to think of what her grandmother and her ex would do if they allied.

         “Hey, don’t underestimate me. My secondary mutation is nerd.” Which is more or less his cue to stumble again, though he catches himself quick enough and shoots her a guilty look. “I promise I’m fine. I’m just, you know. Really clumsy. Lock helps, usually.”

Though they were having to actively work on the staying apart bit, which was - not fun, but probably still necessary, even if it led to Doug wandering aimlessly until he found friends to bother.

(Which totally was wasn’t what’d happened this time.) 

“I’ll have you know I once racked up a million and five points off a single ball, Amara. It’s on.”

🌋 – “Where is ‘Lock?” she asked, carrying her part of the snacks and drinks to the rec room, where the games were. She set them down on a table, knowing better than to help her friend. She was prideful and she could conceive that he might be that way too. 

         Whether Doug chose to bother her or not, she didn’t mind. She liked having a distraction. She needed a break from her studies. 

         “Show me what you got, Dougie. I’m watching.”

Ducking his way through the other students as best he can, he’s happy when they finally make it out of the hallway and into the kitchen. Casting Amara a mock-offended glance as he stacks chip bags in one arm, he scoffs. “Ye - ”

Which is, obviously, exactly when he drops all the chips.

“Uh, no. No, not at all.” Making a face, he picks them up, already dreading the outcome of the impending game session. “No, I’m still the worst at everything. My coordination’s horrible.”

🌋 – She is piling up drinks in her arms when she sees the bags of chips tumble down. She snorts a laugh and rolls her eyes, watching Doug with mock pity. She shakes her head lightly. 

        “Deus... And you want to play pinball against me?” she asks with good humor, eyes glinting with mirth. She was a trained combatant -- had been since before joining the New Mutants. Trained in gladius fight, with a spear, and hand to hand. Her hand-eye coordination has always been excellent. 

         “Do you need my help, friend?” she asks, balancing the drinks under one arm.

“Cheers to us. Who’s like us?!” He exclaimed, dramatically, as a dramatic person does. 

🌋 – She grinned as she took a glass from him, and she lifted her glass towards him as he dramatically toasted to them. She chuckled and rolled her eyes. 

         “Nobody, that’s who,” she exclaimed, his enthusiasm making her smile and cheer up.

// She’s been too fixated on some boys to really experiment with this but she is a member of the LGBTQ community herself. She is demisexual (bi & ace spectrum) and feels sexual attraction when she has formed meaningful romantic bonds. (the first to tell me that demi/ace people aren’t lgbtq gets blocked alright? alright. I’m demi & enby why do you even fuckin’ follow me if you don’t think I’m valid?) 

this said, she comes from a civilization where homosexuality is widely accepted. She doesn’t care who you like, she won’t change her opinion of you for it. (except if you like manuel then she’ll have words with you xD) 

The treatment of LGBTQ people by “regular” folks appalls her. She doesn’t understand bigotry, even as she was a target for it (mutant, though she’s usually human passing so she faces a lot of erasure of who and what she is from said “regular” folks) 

All this to say, free love y’all. Everyone’s got a right to exist and be respected as the person that they are in her eyes. You’d have to be very evil (in her eyes) to deserve a killing blow from her, or even just disrespect.
