I'm just... I guess there are a few things that... I don't want to go through again.
Damn straight.
So, how exactly do you know me?
Well... it may have something to do with the fact that we're talking right now. As for how I knew your name, it's on the letter. I wasn't bullshitting.
Yeah… I’m not looking forward to it, either…
'Fraid so. S'not so bad, trust me.
I'm from Candor. I prefer the truth over reassurement.
I will figure your payment later. But, yeah, I am. From Erudite… like 95% of the other transfers.
So, being in the five percent makes me a rarity. Peyton.
Uh… Right. [ Finn goes silent for a moment, his hands knotting in the blanket, a crease forming across his brow. ] Sorry, do you mind if we don’t, like, talk about that I— Sorry. Doesn’t matter. Finn Mckibbon. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.
No -- I completely get it. I'm sorry.
Peyton.
Welcome to Dauntless where we face our fears.
Yeah. I was just.. wondering.
Scared of what you’ll see?
Something like that.
Task 001: Fear Simulation
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Though she was obviously wrong, time had never seemed to go by any slower for the girl. Peyton knew what to expect in her fear simulation, something she thought would give her a benefit, but she knew it was something no mental preparedness could get her through. The five months she'd been taken were her nightmares, her purgatory -- but then, it was worse than Hell could ever be. She'd unconsciously pulled her knees up to her chin, her hair falling down beside her, as her eyes stuck firmly at the clock. Tick tock. She'd been sitting in the waiting area for nearly twenty minutes, her gaze stricken and unmoving, as her head played memories that haunted her in her head over and over again. She wasn't ready.
Yeah, unless you prefer to be factionless.
Right.
The fear simulation... is it really.. necessary?
My sister, my ex and this other dude.
Oh... ouch. That isn't -- Ideal. I'm pretty sure I'm rooming with my ex too, so I feel you there.
What the fuck are you starin’ at? This isn’t fuckin’ Shakespeare in the Park. Screw off!
You look upset.
I have a habit of getting myself into “dangerous situations.”
You were the one that was, uh, kidnapped. Right? With Becky?
Give me that.
That was... mine.
Oh… Would’ya look at that… I didn’t die! Again.
Again?
Fucking four! What the fuck! Draven Killburn you little shit!
