I feel so envious of people who can go through "I need my dad" moments and actually had a father there helping them to go through those moments and not just sat there wishing he were alive.
Shane and Ilya’s daughter has to do a family tree project in class. They’ve done a great job at emphasizing to her that parents can be any two people that love each other and she understands that other kids might not know that. The rest of the project will be pretty straight forward - Shane doesn’t have any siblings and their daughter doesn’t know much about Ilya’s family at this age besides that papa has a mama that watches over them and that loves her very much. Shane is still nervous about it and having a Very Normal Shane Reaction wondering if she will feel left out for not having a mom and feeling sad that she will never know her papas family and wondering if she is lonely and if they should have another kid. When they get an email from the school asking them to come in at pickup to discuss her family tree Ilya is already angry and ready to pick a fight with whatever stupid kid is bullying their daughter for having two dads. They walk into the classroom and their daughter is standing with her arms crossed insisting that there is nothing wrong with her project and when the teacher slides it across the table they see something so bizarre that they don’t know where to start. She’s drawn on only one side of the tree - Ilya and Shane both stemming from Yuna and David. Next to them are about ten stick figures of different sizes all with hearts around them. While they’re trying to decipher what on earth she has drawn she starts presenting it with her little finger saying “see? Dad is grandma Yuna and grandpa David’s son and Papa is grandma Yuna and grandpa David’s son, too.” And then she moves her finger along with “and that’s uncle Hayden, uncle Troy and uncle Harris, uncle Evan, uncle Luca….” And as she’s naming every stick figure Shane is trying to figure out how he’s going to explain to her teacher that he is not married to one of his 10 brothers when he is actually an only child and Ilya has to turn away because he’s crying at the reminder that the family that adopted him adopted her as well and there has never been a child that has been so loved
I saw a post about Shane and Ilya being sad that they can't thank each other in their acceptance speeches like other can with their spouses and it got me thinking:
Ilya wins his first awards and hes got nobody he really wants to thank after his team and coach cause he he hates his family but he knows his speech is too short so on impulse he goes "And I want to thank Shane Hollander for being slightly worse than me this season". Everyone knows it was going to one of those two, so everyone thinks hes an asshole to say that but whats new so it works for him. But from then on it then becomes a bit for both of them to thank each other in their speeches in a snide way as a reason they won.
Shane winning the Art Ross Trophy (Awarded to the player who leads the league in total points at the end of the regular season). and going "special thanks to Rozanov for missing at least 5 shots this season, he was a huge help"
Ilya winning the Conn Smythe Trophy (Awarded to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs.) "Just want to give a quick shout out to Hollander for getting knocked out in the second round this season. Must hate to see me up here."
They find a way to mention the other in their speeches every time all the time.
In love with the concept of Ilya pretending he doesn’t understand English when someone asks him some fuckass question that he doesn’t want to answer. Especially post-TLG.
Ilya gets pulled for a live post-game media scrum, and instead of being asked about the two goals he scored or how cohesively their team played that day, he gets asked the umpteenth question by some smarmy sports reporter about his and Shane’s relationship, with thinly-veiled jabs about how having two married queer players on their team must be bad for their locker room.
And Ilya loves being able to openly talk about Shane and their relationship, but he’s so sick of this offensive line of questioning. So instead he just makes his innocent-confused-puppydog face and replies in rapid-fire Russian. The reporter is thrown off and repeats his question, but Ilya just replies in Russian again, going on and on until the reporter gets flustered and gives up.
Later when the internet translates what he said, it’s something along the lines of, “I don’t understand such idiotic English questions, but if the sports reporter wants to ask questions about the sport he’s paid to report, I can answer those,” and then it’s just him praising his teammates on how well they’ve been playing.
Harris is also sick of the invasive questions, so he doesn’t throttle Ilya over it. Shane thinks it’s absolutely hilarious. He’s later asked about his husband’s “behavior” by some reporter in the states. He also plays dumb and does the same thing as Ilya, but in French.

Bad Bunny sang Happy Birthday to Shane on my Tomodachi Life game today. Just thought everyone should know that.
Echoes of Impact
Chapter 5
Chapter Summary:
It made Shane a little jealous that Hunter was able to live so openly. Sometimes Shane felt that he was going to scream if he had to keep hiding such a big part of himself. He definitely wasn't ready to come out publicly, but he had thought about coming out to his parents, Hayden and JJ.
Echoes of Impact
Chapter 4
Chapter Summary:
He kept his focus on the game the best he could. His body was still betraying him, just not in the way he was expecting. The last time he played against Boston, he struggled with passes and scoring as his shoulder wasn't on the same page as the rest of his body.
Tonight he was fighting to ignore the tingling sensations he felt every time he came in contact with Rozanov. Each time either of them pushed the other against the boards, he had a familiar feeling in his stomach. He wanted to tell himself it was dread and disgust, but he couldn't deny that it felt no different from the anticipation he felt last season. He knows that feeling well, he had that feeling when he knew he would be meeting up with Rozanov after the game. After everything he had done to him, his body still called out for him and Shane hated it. How could he still long for him in any way when he had done something so awful?
no one does it like them.
I loved this so much i simply had to make it into a gif I'm so sorry
Rose and Svetlana both staying at the Hollanov house post-TLG, running into eachother in the kitchen in the middle of the night because their hosts are keeping them both awake with their sex noises and they've separately decided they might as well get a drink/snack.
At first they don't acknowledge it, but then there's a particularly loud sound from Ilya. One of them almost spits out the water she just sipped and then they're laughing and comparing notes ("did Shane ever make you moan like that?" "never! Did Ilya sound like that for you?" "never, and we had some great sex")
After a while, Ilya emerges looking thoroughly debauched to fetch a fresh glass of ice water for Shane and finds his best-friend-with-former-benefits and his husband's best-friend-former-girlfriend debating whether Shane is incredibly talented in bed with men or Ilya is just down bad.
Ilya has never looked more smug than when he tells them the answer is both.
