Fandoms: BBC Sherlock, though I did post a Doctor Who-Sherlock crossover. I like reading other fandoms, but havenât written for any of them. Thinking about a The Old Guard ficâŠ
Most popular multi-chapter fic: Â Define popular. Is it hits, kudos, bookmarks? But the one fic thatâs at the top for all of those categories is Mystrade Mondays: Mystrade Drabbles from Drabble Challenge 1-150. Inspired title, I know. đ
Favourite story youâve written so far: Choose between my babies?!? I love them all. Even the ugly ones. But one of my favorites is Whatâs Warranted. I mention it because it was tremendous fun to write. It was an easy birth and remains adorable.
Fic you were nervous to post: Of course the first fic is the most nerve wracking to post. But ones that I was nervous to post, and for different reasons, were Fixing Excultus and Not Sentimental. The first because I was writing fan fiction of fan fiction and attempting to âfixâ a WIP by @mottlemoth. Her readers, including me, were having daily panic attacks. It turned out quite well. Moth liked it and was very amused. The second because itâs not Mystrade, though that is background in this very short Mycroft/Mary pairing. Yeah, you read that right. Mycroft/Mary. It came to me in a dream. It had to be written. I have more in my head, but Iâve not been brave enough to put it down on paper.
How you choose your titles: They just sort of come to me as Iâm writing. Sometimes itâs something from a song that Iâm listening to. Sometimes itâs just a word that figures prominently in the fic. Often it has a double meaning or a play on words. Sometimes theyâre just terrible. See above.
Do you outline: Not usually. I generally write short fics so an outline is rarely needed. This has gotten me in trouble with some of my longer fics, so Iâve started to work out a rough sketch of what I want to write. Itâs not an outline per se, more of a description of how I want each section/chapter to go. Iâll include lines of dialogue that have popped into my head as Iâve thought about the fic.
Complete: I have 75 completed works. One of my completed works is a collection of 150 drabbles. So you could say I have 225 completed works. Does that make me prolific?
In progress: The Importance of Uncle Rudy has been in progress for years, years I tell you. (This is the fic that spanked me for not creating an outline.) I have a Christmas fic that Iâm just starting to sketch out. Iâve a The Old Guard fic that is partially written, as well as another Mystrade hurt/comfort fic I started ages ago and havenât gotten back to finish yet.
Coming soon/not yet started: Every Monday I post a Mystrade fic about 1000 words, so there is always, always something in the works. I have a The Parent Trap AU in my brain forever. I also would like to expand on what I started in Not Sentimental. Iâve got such ideas for it, but havenât been brave enough to pursue them. Â
Do you accept prompts: Yes, I would, though not at at the moment. Life is⊠well, yâall know how life is these days. Iâve not gotten many prompts. I do participate in various fandom fundraisers so Iâll get prompts that way.
Iâll tell you the thing that generally sparks my brain is fan art, particularly from @myteapotthings. Something about the way she draws Mycroft and Greg just fires up my brain. Sometimes sheâll send me a peek at a piece sheâs working on and Iâm messaging her right back about the fic sheâs just inspired.
Upcoming story you are most excited to write: I really want to finish Uncle Rudy. Iâve been working on it so long, I canât abandon it. Then I can tackle some of the other fics milling about in my brain. Â
