Even though it’s a little long and a little awkward, it suits them.

Chloé falls in love first. Okay ! I know this is an interesting headcanon and one that I don’t know if you’ll agree with ( and I’ll be honest, I can’t remember if we’ve ever decided on this before but ) but yes. Not only is it important in their relationship for Chloé to love him sincerely back, she needs to not be adored by him first. Chloé is constantly surrounded by people who would do anything for her, who are pushovers for her, who idolize her. She, herself, believes that everyone loves her ! At least on the level of self-reflection that she is comfortable with looking at. There’s Nath, right ? And he doesn’t love her. Maybe he understands her a bit but he’s true to himself and she bullied him and was a little shit. He’s not head over heels for her. He needs to see her become a better person, to accept that she has flaws, to go through her redemption before he can truly come to appreciate her for who she is. Nath tho, he’s already great. He doesn’t need to fix himself, other than to come out of his own shell a bit. Even though Chloé is uncomfortable with love and real feelings, she falls in love with him first, because he’s great and he’s kind and he doesn’t treat her like everyone else. And then she changes because she’s in love and she wants to be better and then it’s easy for him.
