“ --- crap, did it look like i was?? didn’t mean to bother you or anything. i was just tryna figure out how to work this bluetooth thing so i can talk to the people back home. it’s not going that well. turns out i’m not the greatest with tech. ”

“Why would I pay for something I can do myself? And you suggested that I burn my hair off, I don’t know if you’re the sort of person I should trust near my head with sharp implements.”
“ because it’d look nice AND be less troublesome to take care of. you have heard of sarcasm, right?? i didn’t think i was that awful. just sit down and let me get some scissors. you won’t feel a thing. ”
she was like a daughter and a sister. she was a girlfriend, a best friend, a fighter, a survivor, and a hero.

awesome. jasper was completely wrapped up in their conversation. he had expected a lot of weird things to happen once he landed on earth, but magic had always been out of the question. sure, his friends knew how to do a few magic tricks, but nothing quite as amazing as what the girl next to him could do. “can you blame me? it’s kind of hard to believe someone when they claim they’re a witch without any proof, but you sure showed me.” a small smile graced his lips before fading just as quick. “who are you??”
for once, she didn’t mind speaking about her magic, either. this guy -- to him everything was NEW. he didn’t know the danger that came with magic, knowing people who had it, being involved in her general world. a chuckle left her lips, she shaking her head. “ i probably can’t. i forgot what it was like, to be around people who haven’t been born into... ” she gestured around herself, “ this WORLD of magic. --- davina claire. born and raised in new orleans. who are you?? ”
the vibe that the girl was giving off was definitely something that put cam a little on edge. she still seemed pretty jumpy and frantic, though it also appeared like she was trying to calm herself down. he knew the feeling all too well himself. maybe not in her exact situation, but he tried to emphasize as best he could. “ are they dangerous?? “ he asked, raised eyebrow accenting the question. that would explain her behavior, he said to himself. “ yeah, you too. “
she let out a breath, evening out her breathing as her mind raced. no mikaelsons, so that was good. but she’d already met a handful of... odd beings and she wouldn’t be surprised if there were SOMETHING ELSE out there. it didn’t change from the mikaelsons being at the top of the list though; mostly because they knew who she was and all of them wanted her dead at least one period of the team. “ some of the most dangerous people that i know. ” she failed to mention that the last memory she had was the eldest sister trying to kill her. “ so keep an eye out, yeah?? ”
he listened to her words before his eyes widened a little. yanking his hands from his pockets he threw them up. ‘’ you’re not really. ‘’ his hands lowered before he offered a small smile. ‘’ i’ve dealt with more annoying people. ‘’ he looked around the apartment building that they were in. ‘’ magnolia, i think this place is called. unit one of the apartments. ‘’ he looked back at her for a second, confusion on his face. she just woke up here?
a small smile quirked at her lips at his actions, she not being used to people who communicated so... vividly. “ --- thank god and i’ll go ahead and take that as a compliment, ” davina replied with a matching grin, head tilting up. “ an apartment place, cool. --- do you know what STATE we’re in?? we’re still in the US, right?? ”

for the shortest of moments, jasper forgot all about his misery. he was so caught up in the magic trick he had just been witness to that nothing else mattered. “how did you become a witch? or were you born as one?” he pushed, wanting to know everything about the girl and how she had obtained such abilities. “trust me, it’s super cool. like… out of this world cool.”
his reaction, in all, did lighten her spirits from what they’d been like; a bit dark, quiet, moping in their own section of her mind. “ i was born one. in new orleans; the magic is in the blood of the ancestors and it gets passed down to all of us, ” she said with a shrug, giving him the simple basics of it all. a grin popped at her lips from his compliment, davina enjoying it. “ good to know. most people, like i feel you ALMOST did, either call us crazy, children of the devil -- or just plain old evil. ”

“You mean, like, top secret files…? What does that even have to do with–? Y’know what, never mind. Yeah, I’m getting that a lot. And no, I haven’t. Never had a lot of time for reading stories.”
“ i mean like... the tv show... --- nevermind, then. i don’t think the two of us are going to be on the same page anytime soon. not even as a kid?? they’re like folktales. ”

“No, I’m perfectly human. But I’ve fought aliens before. A…what, what, and what? None of that made any sense to me.”
“ sounds like an episode of x-files. you’re not making any sense to me, if that makes you feel better. --- haven’t you read any supernatural stories before?? ”

“what the f—” jasper watched with wide eyes as the paper burst into flames and then vanished. now he really was doubting if he was sober or not; maybe this was just another illusion brought on by one too many sips of moonshine– but it couldn’t be. no, jasper remembered the trip from the edge of the ocean to magnolia all too well. “that was… amazing!” yeah, he was definitely impressed. “you are officially the coolest person in this town.”
davina couldn’t help but grin at his reaction. she’d forgotten what it was like for normal people to be around magic. it was a part of her everyday routine; most people in the world didn’t even believe it existed. a chuckle left her lips as she looked up, shaking her head. “ that was just showoff magic -- you know, the stuff that looks cool. but, ha. thanks -- i don’t think anyone’s actually called me or my magic cool before. ”

“Ok, well, my home planet might not be safe, but it’s definitely survivable. Even the totally brainless can manage if they’re violent enough. And I’m preeeetty sure there’s people living on the other planets, too. I’ve met plenty of ‘em.”
“ --- so, you’re like... an alien?? --- i shouldn’t be so surprised. i’m a witch. my best friend’s a vampire. i made a deal with a hybrid wold vampire. still... this is weird for even me. ”

“Wow, I…never expected to be compared to those kinds of nerds. But I can assure you I’ve never read a comic book in my life. Doesn’t change the fact other planets exist.”
“ --- well, that’s just to me. i’m not surrounded by a diverse amount of people, usually, i wouldn’t know. yeah, but... other planets aren’t survivable according to science. ”
“ yeah. a province from canada. ” beth nodded, a surprised but HAPPY smile on her face. not a lot of people she met knew where her hometown ( province?? ) was. not only was she SMART but she was nice. brows knit in confusion at her next words. “ i—?? why are you looking for them if you don’t want them to know you’re here? are they dangerous or something? ” worry filled her tone once more as davina spoke. “ i-i’m beth, by the way. ”
smiling is hardly a foreign concept to the witch, despite her lack of making the move, and one appeared on her face as it appeared on the other’s. “ thank you google, ” she commented, nodding a couple times. “ --- because i’m already involved, dating their youngest. been involved with their family for the longest time, now. really dangerous. but i can handle them, so i’m stuck dealing with them. ” a pause came from her, she noticing the worried tone. “ don’t worry about me. i’m davina. ”

“ never heard of it. “ a slightly amused expression found his features as a result of her irritation. he could sense it, but he wasn’t going to probe at it. the last thing he wanted at this point was to cause any unnecessary drama ( look at how far that had gotten him ). “ i’m fine. —— then what runs this land? a council? a tribe? i need to speak with someone who has authority. “ he almost responded to her last statement, but instead remained quiet, thinking it best to remain a mystery to the stranger.
her blue eyes look up through dark eyelashes as her eyebrows crinkled at his mention. “ you’ve never heard of new orleans, lousiana?? that’s weird -- everyone’s heard of our jazz and bar scene, at the very least. ” it was what they were famous for, and the supernatural ‘ folklore ’ to anyone who didn’t know better, of course. “ and here i thought i didn’t get out much. i -- are you talking about the president of the united states?? because as far as i’m concerned, he’s hard to get in touch with. there is a governor, mayor, district councilman, but --- i think you’re on a different page than the rest of this building’s population. if it’s a personal matter: the authorities don’t care. ”
though the girl was still clearly a little out of it —— and cam couldn’t help but think that maybe she had randomly woken up here like he had —— he couldn’t stop himself from having to stifle a laugh as she backed into the door behind her. he shook his head quickly. “ not that i can say, sorry. i’ve only been here a few days anyway, “ he said, with a small shrug and giving her a sympathetic look. “ yeah, i can understand that. i’m cam, by the way. “
davina shook her head, trying to shake herself out of it. she had to get a hold of herself; didn’t want her magic spiking, nor being found by unwanted people. neither was pleasant to the young witch. “ sorry i’m -- a little out of it, obviously, but -- thanks for answering, either way. keep your eye out for a family of ‘em, yeah?? BUT uhm, if you do find them, don’t like, talk to them. ” she was well aware of her vagueness; but it was the easiest way to keep people safe and not involved. “ --- davina. nice to meet you, cam. ”

vampires and witches surely couldn’t be real. then again, life seemed to be constantly surprising jasper, so maybe this was just another plot twist about earth. “i’m not high, but i kind of wish i was.” he shrugged, not letting the vampire conversation go just yet. “so…– are you a vampire??”
davina laughs at his question, a small snort leaving her as she shook her head. “ no. that’s a hard no. and thank god for that. ” with all the destruction they caused, all the pain it caused marcel and josh -- she was very glad to be a witch. her eyes wandered, looking for something, anything. with a waved of her hand, a stray piece of paper flying between them; and snapped her fingers, it erupting to flame and fading into nothing. “ witch. ”
