The heir couldn’t remember another time that he’d ran so fast in his life. With the proof of his success on the line, how could he afford not to? Get it? It’s a money joke. See, because… Oh, never mind. Togami shoved his way past different clumps of civilians, some completely oblivious of his current predicament. Worthless scum. He wouldn’t bother with them anymore.
However, the pickpocket seemed to be faster than him, and for a few seconds it almost seemed that the criminal would be getting away with the heir’s money. Just when all hope seemed to be lost, the would-be thief dropped to the ground, struck by someone who’d responded to Togami’s impromptu distress call. As the criminal, having been defeated, scampered to his feet and ran away, the heir slowed his pace, preparing a reluctant display of thanks for whoever stopped such an injustice.
It didn’t take long for Togami to recognize the face of the girl who was holding his money. He let himself catch his breath before finally approaching the swimmer.
“I… didn’t expect you to be here. You weren’t at the meeting I called a while ago. I’ll overlook that lapse of your judgment, naturally, since you’ve…”
“…Anyway, I understand you’ll never hold such a sum as that in your hands again, but it is mine. So, I’ll simply take my money back, now.”
The heir held his hand out expectantly, as if Aoi would simply place the collection of bills in his hand. Somewhere in the back of his head, he knew better than to think his tribulation was over. It didn’t hurt to try.
As expected, the person who'd been careless enough to get pickpocketed hurried through the crowds of people. Aoi widened her eyes. She knew that voice sounded familiar -- if it wasn't the heir himself, Byakuya Togami. Figures. He would walk around in a giant, dirty city with a load of money. Once a jerk, always a jerk.
She was sort of happy to see him, though. A familiar face sent relief and warmth throughout Aoi. As much as Togami was... Togami, she still considered him her friend -- and she still cared and worried for his safety. So she smiled widely as he approached her.
“I… didn’t expect you to be here. You weren’t at the meeting I called a while ago. I’ll overlook that lapse of your judgment, naturally, since you’ve…”
There was a meeting-? Did that mean there were others here that they knew? How could that be possible? Only that few made it out of Hope's Peak alive...
"I- um-! I just got here, not too long ago, actually," she answered. "So I didn't know there was a meeting or anything. Who else is here?!"
Aoi didn't really know how to react upon seeing Togami again. Should she hug him? No. Ew. No way. Who'd want to hug someone like him, anyway? With those... ugly glasses.
“…Anyway, I understand you’ll never hold such a sum as that in your hands again, but it is mine. So, I’ll simply take my money back, now.”
...
"Haah...? Oh!! Right!"
She supposed she got a little caught up in her thoughts. Handing it back to him, she frowned a little.
"You should be smart enough to know not to carry that much money around a city like this, Togami," Aoi said. "I'm sure people know who you are and it doesn't look like you have anyone around protectin' ya. I'm really not surprised you got robbed!"
