From I Am the Beggar of the World: Landays from Contemporary Afghanistan, tr. by Eliza Griswold
The area dividing the brain and the soul Is affected in many ways by experience – Some lose all mind and become soul: insane. Some lose all soul and become mind: intellectual. Some lose both and become: accepted.
Charles Bukowski, “Lifedance” (via wordsnquotes)
Seiichi Hayashi, from “Dwelling in Flowers” (1972)
I (unfortunately and regrettably) passed on this book at an antique mall in Quilcene, Washington this weekend. Books that try to explain ideas of varying complexity to children are always really interesting to me and this one seemed especially poignant.
edit: I don’t remember the title of the book but sometimes I think it’s better to imagine how great something like this could have been than to have it and know for sure.

Otto Künzli, Ring für Zwei, 1980.
