Chloe nodded, wiping her hands off on her jeans. “You can say that again…” She muttered, looking behind them, concerned that something can happen at any moment to warrant her jumpiness. Feeling guilty, she frowned before looking down at her own white shirt with coffee stains. “Make you a deal: Let me buy us both a coffee and in exchange, you show me how to get these stains out? Prove you don’t need to close up the Laundry. Even trade?” She gave a half smile, realizing she was probably sounding ridiculous.
The way she looked behind them made Deacon feel like there was someone there, he turned his head the same way she did but didn’t see anyone. He was about to ask her if she was alright when she spoke. Deacon listened to her idea and gave her a gentle smile. “Sure. Seems even enough.” And that would save him from asking her what she was so jumpy from and if there was anything he could do to help. He gave her his coffee order. And looked at the spattering of brown coffee on her white shirt. Listening to her own order to see exactly what kind of stain he was going to be dealing with. When they had their drinks he asked, “Back to the laundry then for my end of this trade? The longer we wait the harder it will be to get the stain out.”
