'I want more enemies to lovers in media' a lot of you guys couldn't even handle CATRADORA
Someone said this on twitter and the majority agreed but a lot of haters are coming out to argue, the haters have the worst arguments. I donāt think the haters actually watched the show or were just biased from the beginning.
Catradora is my favorite childhood best friends to enemies to lovers trope. I think it was done well and Catraās redemption actually made sense. It didnāt come out of nowhere and we saw her struggling the whole show to go to the good side. She apologized on screen and she worked on herself (in the scene where they meet Melog she tells Adora how sheās been working on bettering herself)
And they are NOT sistersā¦Just because they are both females and childhood best friends doesnāt mean they saw each other as sisters. Iāve seen people say this for the Life is Strange fandom (Max & Chloe) none of these pairs were sisters nor viewed themselves as sisters. Their relationships started as friendship and then as teens turned to having crushes on each other and as adults being deeply in love.
Because itās too good to leave in the tags
Still can't get over how Steph said "who's the victim when you shoot me looks" to Pete. That's like two inches away from calling him a vixen. A temptress. A scandalous little minx who seduces all the proper gentlewomen with his beautiful thick-lashed babyboy eyes. Girl get ahold of yourself
You just gotta love how Steph flirts with Pete constantly, asks him out more than once, and then has the gall to say "you're obsessed with me" my sister in christ the call is coming from inside the house
"I love them loving each other" is the best description of shipping I've heard and it came from someone who didn't know what shipping is
Grace Chasity really put a new meaning to "fuck 'em straight to hell"
Starkid is one of the absolute best arguments for supprting independent art. The fact that the shows you're invested in can't get canceled by Big Daddy Streaming, the quality is always amazing, the love of the cast and crew doesn't get squeezed out by surprise budget reductions, the fact that since crowd funding provides almost all costs up front (plus the presence of voluntary digital ticket/in person tickets for additional funding), the fan base can access the full material for whatever cost they can contribute (even if you can give nothing monetarily, you will still get a professionally shot version of the material eventually, without surprise fees or password crackdowns, AND with captions/completely accesible regardless of location). The same goes for Tin Can Bros, Shipwrecked, and all the other associated theater and web series companies loosely connected to Starkid. Like, I cannot believe the amazing content provided to us at the same level as Broadway or streaming services with billion dollars at hand, with almost none of the catches that come with others. Like, I cannot believe that we get all of this right at our hands.
Paul Matthews and Emma Perkins are everything to me. They are soulmates and find each other in every universe but they almost never get past the awkwardly flirting stage before the world ends. They are both losers. They find each other every time an apocalypse commences. They are the only normal people in the whole universe. They are doomed by the narrative. They hate musicals. He tips her 5 dollars and she spits on everyones coffee. They are Orpheus and Eurydice coded. They are a spark that never turns into fire. They are intimate but don't like labels. They are the only constant thing in every timeline. They are what it could have been but never meant to be. They meet in that coffee shop again and again forever. He'll order a black coffee and she'll ask him for his name. And the loop will start all over again.
If you guys liked the whole "Stephs flannel matches Peter's suspenders and bow tie" thing then this costuming detail is in tgwdlm gonna fuck you up.
When we get our first scene with Paul and Emma, the two are dressed in their respective main outfits. These are the ones people tend to associate with them.
But throughout the show, as they get closer and bond, their outfits become more and more similar. Pretty soon Emma's lost the apron
Then at the professor's house, Paul loses the jacket
and by the time McNamara is infected, Paul has his sleeves rolled up and Emma's bow tie has come undone.
At this point, the two are at their most aesthetically similar, and also the closest they've been the entire show. This is moments before the helicopter crash and their failed kiss. They remain this way for a good chunk of time...until Paul comes back
It's like some fast-paced foreshadowing. Emma remains in her changed state, the same as her character, but Paul is back to square one. He's wearing the same outfit he was when they met, and they no longer align. She doesn't know who he is anymore.
I don't know if this was intentional (and if it was, no one explained it to Jon) but it plays out so damn well.
wait hes so cute in this 1 (one) frame
