At first he had no response to the words, a meek gaping of his mouth and hunching of his shoulders being his first reaction to the words. There was an attempt to actually look at the other but at the same time it was hard to. Especially when he didn’t look right. Not human. Probably some sort of monster. But what other choice did he have?

"I-uh, mm’n-not an. an asshh-hole.. I—" His fingers drag against the side of his face, scratching at lopsidedly unshaven sides. "—M’lookin’ for uh. F’mm-metal like."

His hands clench and unclench in front of him, demonstrating as Tobias struggled to figure out the right word. “—FF-fingernails. Hands. Ss-somethin’ t’uh, t’replace fingers.”

"I'll be th' judge'a that," he crooned, sitting up in his chair to stamp the tip of his cigarette into the ash tray on the counter between them.

Man, this guy looked like a real freak show. Why did he always get the druggies and creeps coming into his shop? He wasn't even in the shittiest part of town, yet here he was, talking to some dick head with a stutter because his store was available.

Damnit.

"Uh-huh," he watched the other's hand, ears flipped forward. Fingernails? "To replace fingers? You want it t'be a weapon, or what?"

He had plenty of things that could do what this human was asking. Point of the matter was, what kind of thing was he thinkin'?

"I'm gonna need more information than that, kid, before I get'cha what'cha want."

It would’ve been better to go somewhere else. Somewhere that. That had people that looked like people, things that were human. But orders were orders and so the man approached the counter hesitantly. “Hh.. h—hello, sir?”

"What'ya want?"

The other looked nervous, troubled. A bit scraggly - and thanks to the horse's heightened senses, he smelled terrible. But hey- so did every other damned smooth skin in this fucking city. If this man needed something done with machinery, he could help - but he certainly would make it known he didn't want to. Flat-out refusal to serve a human was illegal, but damn if he didn't break the law often enough as it was.

"I don't got time for assholes."
