"Some people do it right." The redhead shrugged, thinking about Lydia and how she was close to being flawless. She couldn’t help but grimace, since the fellow ginger—okay, not exactly ginger, but still—had all the attention. Daphne was always the awkward one, choosing not to draw attention to her. And that was exactly what she liked about Cora. The girl didn’t give a damn about things, not to mention she was pretty much a badass. "Either way, I’m surprised to see you here."
She liked to disagree — and she did so with the selfies. If she were to be captured on film, she wanted it to not be of her making a ridiculous pose. But Cora didn't like many things. She didn't like the fact that she had been forced into going back to school; she'd had her education in South America, a good one, and even though she was legally required to be in school until she was eighteen, Cora felt as though it was a waste of time. Especially so when Peter liked to point out that people would be suspicious if she didn't finish her schooling. She didn't particularly care about what others thought.
She did, however, care about some of the things said about her. Being outdoors was something she enjoyed. It was the one thing she doubted anyone could really take from her.
Taking a step forward, Cora's gaze was on the trees, settling on nothing in particular. It settled on Daphne once again at her statement. She tilted her head. "Why?" she asked, curious.

If she wasn’t such an airhead person, Daphne could have probably noticed that she wasn’t alone anymore. Startled, she almost lost her balance, but her instincts were faster—it didn’t take that much to have her upright posture back. After a quick glance, the redhead noticed that her company wasn’t unfamiliar, in fact, she could have sworn that the girl next to her—Caroline? Coraline? Cora.—was in her English class. With a nod, Daphne bounced her heel to the left, adjusting the lens before taking a picture. Pleased with the result, she turned back to the girl, with a genuine smile on her face, “Thank you. Really, thank you. I’m still a beginner when it comes to photography. But better than being a selfie whore, I guess.”
Cora didn't blink nor move during Daphne's kerfuffle. She was like Stiles, always moving, tripping over things, stumbling into walls; Cora knew to simply stand still and wait patiently for the tide to recede back into the water and for him - and Daphne, as a result - to right himself once again.
She pursed her lips. "Selfies?" She narrowed her eyes. It sounded as though she was as removed from the world as some rumoured her to be, but Cora was well aware of what they were. She didn't understand their purpose, though. Her value was in photographs of moments captured without posing, captured where the objects of the picture were so caught up in the moment that they didn't realise they had an audience. She thought about that and the bird, coloured as brown, as it tended to the nest high up in the tree. "I don't know why anyone does them. They're not really flattering."

After keeping herself hidden away in her room for far too long, but yet, not long enough, Daphne had finally decided that perhaps it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to leave it, even if it was past 11pm. With a sigh, the red head stood from her seat, smoothing her skirt before adjusting her cardigan and tugging the sleeves over her hands. She picked her camera, her ipod, and tidied up her bed a bit before finally leaving, intending to enjoy her night.
Daph still feared walking alone. She was not afraid a man would snatch her, for she could easily slip away if need be. She was afraid of the wild animals she might have to face. Before sliding the ear phones in her ears, she cracked her fingers, letting the playlist of her favorite songs start to play. She moved her legs into a jog down the forest, following a road to the farthest place in the city, finally regretting the decision to wear a skirt.
When the girl got in the middle of the forest, she kept glancing around, making sure that no one else was out. Confident that everyone was either asleep, out partying or passed out, as the place seemed deserted, she could finally relax in the silence, noticing that there were no clouds in the sky, leaving all the stars overhead to light the night. There was nothing to worry about. So she lifted her camera up to her eye again, supporting the large amount of lenses with her left hand, and took a picture of the view, quite unaware of the footsteps behind her.
The loft might have been spacious, but it was difficult to work off the excess energy she'd earned by doing push-ups and lifts on the metal beam ahead. It was empty and airy, but Cora still felt suffocated by what lingered in the corners and the shadows. The loft wasn't a home.
Running out in the forest, while it reminded her of Laura and her house and her life before everything turned to ash, was a relief. She felt as though she was flying. She ran, her feet hitting the ground, her heart racing, as she navigated her way along no particular path.
It wasn't until she smelt and heard someone that she began to slow to a quick-paced walk, then came to a stop altogether. A woman was standing before her, a short distance away, with her head raised and a camera in her hands. Cora made no move to muffle the sounds of her footsteps, of how her sneakers crushed the dry leaves beneath them loudly. She was still panting from her punishing pace. "Move to the left," she said. "You'll get something other than leaves in your shot."

"And just where the hell have you been?”
" Around. "
[ short, succinct; you know, basically dismissive. cora simply wants to walk on by without any incident. ]
[ he chuckles — she has a valid point. there was a reason he hadn’t crashed the party to begin with. ]
“Sounds like it would’ve been a great one in nineteen ninety-six.”
[ he thought for a moment — all he’d really heard about the party was that it had been a rave. loud music, flashing lights, alcohol… if isaac was anything like camden had been at that age—— ]
”My brother probably enjoyed it, though. That kid’s easily entertained.”
[ cora ducks her head as she smiles, amused. derek really is out of touch with the times, even though she knows he most likely wasn't the person to suggest he host a party in his loft. ]
" Sounds like most of the kids around here. "
[ easily entertained. or easily slaughtered. she thinks she'd prefer the former. ]
" Who's your brother? "
[ derek hale may lack the social skills to keep a conversation going, but cora didn't. she doubts she'd know his brother, anyway; she doesn't know too many people in beacon hills anymore. ]
