Question

Question: How often do they feel doubt? What topics are they defensive about?

Skulduggery doesn't doubt himself very often, and being a skeleton hasn't exactly helped that.  He's not going to feel doubt unless something is extremely dangerous and victory is impossible.  And even then he won't show it.  When it comes to other people, he is very cautious, as he doesn't want to get stabbed in the back (not that he really has a back or that stabbing would work well on him).

Skulduggery is defensive about his choice of backup cars, and their bright colorations.

New Bones

Tetra wandered. She knew she had to get home, but she had no idea where to start. It might be a good idea to scout out other people with more power or more knowledge. Although the thought of being someone’s subordinate set her teeth on edge, she was determined to get home. Her crew (and Link) had better be grateful when she got back. And they better not have gotten into trouble. Now all she needed was to find someone powerful. And not evil. Hopefully.

She caught movement out of the corner of her eye. Without being too obvious about it, she took another look. A tall…man? was skulking about in the shadows. A few things could happen if she went after him. He could be evil but weak, in which case she would go after him like she did Ganon (with better results). He could be good but weak, in which case she would just leave and find someone else. He could be good and powerful, in which case she’d…ask for his…help. Or, he could be evil and powerful, in which case she would run away. Very quickly. Tucking her toy ship under her arm, she approached the suspicious figure. “Hey, you! The shady beanpole. I wanna talk to you.”

Skulduggery continued on his completely and entirely unsuspicious path through the darker parts of the street, when he heard a shout behind him.  Perhaps he wasn't as inconspicuous as he'd wanted to be.  He turned towards the source of the noise, which appeared to be a small girl who thought she was a pirate, even with a small boat under her arm.  She didn't seem dangerous, so he decided to go along with this as unsuspiciously as possible.

"Yes?" he asked, "What do you need?"
