The Cosmic Feline
The golden sunlight of a regular Tuesday afternoon filtered through the cabin windows, casting quiet shadows across the living room. You were curled up on the couch, scrolling through your phone, feeling a bit restless. Pennywise had been gone for hours, likely wandering the dark, damp belly of Derry, and the silence of the house felt a little too heavy. You sighed, casually thinking out loud to the empty room about how nice it would be to have a cat just a simple, warm little creature to break the quiet of a normal day.
A sudden, sharp pop shattered the silence near the hallway.
You sat up, expecting his towering, silver clad clown form to step out of the shadows. Instead, the hallway was empty. Then, from right beside the coffee table, came a tiny, raspy sound.
"Meow?"
You peered over the edge of the cushions, and your jaw dropped. Sitting on the rug was a cat. But it was undeniably him. It was a large, incredibly plush feline with fur as white as his stage makeup, a round face, and a distinct patch of bright copper fur right between its ears that looked exactly like his messy hair. Most startling of all were the eyes: two brilliant, glowing amber globes staring up at you with a fiercely intelligent, un-animalistic devotion.
"Pennywise?" you whispered, completely bewildered.
The cat blinked its glowing eyes. It opened its mouth, and instead of a normal feline purr, a low, tectonic rumble shook the floorboards the exact cosmic vibration he made when he was happy. Determined to master this new human concept of "domestic bliss," the Pennywise cat suddenly exploded into motion. He took off across the room at supersonic speed, skidding wildly across the hardwood floor, pouncing on invisible prey beneath the armchair, and sprinting up the back of the curtains before dropping to the rug with a heavy thud. It was the ultimate, chaotic version of the afternoon "zoomies," performed by a creature that usually fed on nightmares.
"Observe me," his gravelly, ancient voice echoed directly inside your mind, sounding hilariously serious for a cat currently batting at a loose thread on the rug. "I am executing the erratic feline movements. Does this generate the 'happy' chemical in your human brain, (Y/N)?"
You burst into a fit of laughter, the sound echoing through the cozy room. Hearing your joy, the white cat immediately stopped his frantic sprinting. He trotted over to the couch with an air of immense pride, his tail held high, and leaped effortlessly onto your lap.
He was heavy far heavier than a normal cat, carrying the dense, heavy weight of a star born entity but he was impossibly soft.
He circled around twice, his long white tail brushing against your arm, before settling down right across your chest and stomach. He extended his front paws, unsheathed his claws just a millimeter to grip the fabric of your shirt, and began pushing his paws in and out against you in a slow, rhythmic motion. Left, right, left, right. "The earth felines perform this compression ritual," Pennywise’s voice rumbled in your head as his paws kneaded your skin with a deep, soothing pressure. "They call it 'making biscuits.' It is an expression of ultimate comfort and territorial claiming. You are my dough now, (Y/N). I am reshaping you into my quiet."
The cosmic purr in his chest grew so loud your entire body vibrated with the frequency, instantly melting away the boredom and loneliness of the afternoon. He leaned forward, pressing his cold, wet pink nose directly against your chin a tiny, feline version of his usual possessive kisses.
You smiled, reaching out to scratch him right behind his copper colored ears. The cat's eyes closed in sheer bliss, his head tilting heavily into your palm as he melted completely into your lap, refusing to move. He was the consumer of worlds, but on this perfectly ordinary afternoon, he was just your incredibly clingy, extremely bizarre, and deeply devoted cat.
The rhythmic rhythm of his paws against your stomach continued for a long time, the deep, rumbling purr acting like a warm, vibrating weight that anchored you completely to the cushions. The ordinary Tuesday afternoon had dissolved into something entirely out of time, a private pocket of peace created just for you.
Pennywise’s heavy, plush feline body finally grew still, though his paws remained resting protectively over your ribs. He blinked his glowing amber eyes slowly, looking up at you with that same unblinking, cosmic intensity, even in this absurdly small form. "Your heart rate has stabilized," his gravelly voice echoed directly inside your mind, a stark contrast to the soft white fur pressing against your chest. "The erratic, lonely pulses I detected when I entered the domicile... they have quieted. Tell me Y/N is the feline illusion sufficient?"
You smiled down at him, your fingers gently tracing the bright copper patch of fur between his ears. "It’s perfect, Penny. You make a very good cat."
He let out a low, huffing breath a tiny feline sigh that blew a puff of cold air against your neck. "A trivial form to assume. The earth creatures are structurally fragile, but I find their biological imperatives... strangely efficient for comforting you. They require so little effort to command absolute affection."
To prove his point, the Pennywise cat shifted his weight, crawling further up your chest until his pales whiskers were brushing against your jaw. He began to rub the side of his face against your chin, a firm, possessive scent marking behavior that cats do to claim their territory. But because it was him, you could feel the raw, ancient energy humming just beneath his skin.
"You smell of the cabin, of the tea you brewed, and now, of me," his voice rumbled in your head, thick with satisfaction. "I have marked you in the dark as a clown, and I mark you in the light as this small beast. In every shape, in every dimension, you are my boundary line. The only place in this wretched world where I do not wish to destroy."
He curled his long white tail tightly around your arm, pulling himself as close to your neck as physically possible. He was just as clingy in this form as he was in his silver silk suit, refusing to allow even a breath of space between your skin and his fur.
You leaned your head back against the couch pillows, closing your eyes as the soothing warmth of his heavy body and the steady, hypnotic thrum of his purr enveloped you completely. Outside, the mundane world went on with its ordinary afternoon, completely unaware that the ancient eater of worlds was currently disguised as a fluffy white cat, napping contentedly on the lap of the only human he loved.
You looked down at the cosmic entity resting so peacefully on your chest. His glowing amber eyes were half closed, his long white whiskers twitching slightly every time he let out a soft, huffed breath against your neck. It was a beautiful, entirely ridiculous sight the consumer of worlds, stripped of his terrifying aura, trying his absolute best to be a comforting domestic pet just to chase away your afternoon boredom.
A wave of intense affection washed over you. You carefully slid your hands beneath his front paws, lifting his round, fluffy head just enough so he was looking directly at you.
"Thank you, Penny," you whispered softly.
Before he could answer in your mind, you leaned down and pressed a slow, lingering kiss right on his furry forehead, right in the center of that distinct patch of bright copper orange fur. The moment your lips left his skin, a sudden, sharp spark of static electricity snapped through the air. The white cat stiffened, his amber eyes blowing wide with an intense, brilliant flare of light.
A loud, theatrical pop echoed through the room, accompanied by a faint scent of cotton candy, winter air, and old greasepaint.
In a fraction of a second, the heavy, fluffy weight of the feline vanished, instantly replaced by the towering, silver clad form of the clown. Pennywise was back in his true grandeur, his voluminous silk ruffles crinkling loudly as he loomed over you on the couch, his long, spindly limbs instantly draping over your lap to keep you pinned exactly where you were. The white paint on his forehead, right where you had kissed his cat form, carried a faint, warm smudge from the pressure of your lips.
His massive red grin stretched wide across his face, his normal, gravelly voice returning in a low, rich rumble that vibrated against your chest.
"A physical trigger," he rasped, his eyes burning with a deep, needy passion as he leaned down until his nose brushed yours. "Your lips hold a strange power, (Y/N). The beast’s form could not contain the sudden surge of my... hunger for you. It broke the illusion."
He became instantly, overwhelmingly clingy, his large, white gloved hands sliding up to cup your face, his long fingers tangling in your hair as he tilted your head back.
"No more small creatures," he murmured, his breath a chilling, sweet mist against your mouth. "I have played my part. Now, I require the true tribute for my efforts."
He leaned down, burying his face in your neck with a deep, rumbling purr that shook the entire sofa, sealing his return with a cascade of cold, desperate kisses that made it very clear he was never letting you go for the rest of the day.
