ANYONE WHO HAS MY DISCORD: DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS FROM ME
Hey everyone. There's another app on the Google playstore. Pretty sure it's not official and it's making money from in-app ads.
I think the AO3's latest post about apps is here:
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I don’t access Ao3 on my phone, but for those of you who do. wise words of warning.
Last time I looked, my best bet to use AO3 safely and free was to go straight to AO3.
I don’t understand the appeal of this. Has anyone ever thought “you know what would make AO3 better? Ads!”
Semi-regular reminder to my readers that AO3 does not have an app and every time you login through one of them, you are potentially comprising your account/password. AO3 has an effective design for mobile use and you can always add to home screen, if you really need an "app" icon.
Inspired by or stealing?
Before I get into this I ask that if you reblog this, please go back to the original post to do so in case I need to update this post at a later time. I will also put this in my Instagram stories and archive them.
This is something I had hoped I wouldn’t have to post. But apparently giving people the benefit of doubt and a chance(or many) to do the right thing, means they’ll ignore it/you and just continue in the same manner.
Long story short, back in January I accidentally came across someone who seems to have systematically taken art they like, copied/traced it and passed it off as their own on Instagram. Like I told them, imagine my surprise when Instagrams top suggestion for me was what I believe is a traced drawing of mine. They’ve grown a fairy large following and gotten numerous likes under false pretense, all off of the work of other artists. The drawing I personally believe is copied from mine had over 3k likes before they turned off showing # of likes. Another post featuring a copy of a bamf-castiel sketch was liked by Misha Collins.
I didn’t want to share this without showing everything we have gathered about this. These are just the posts where we’ve been able to find the original art. There’s a good chance there’s more, but I can’t comment on other posts than these. A friend of mine actually found one more original art just before posting this, but we haven’t been able to confirm the original artist as of yet.
I wasn’t going to make a public post about this because frankly this whole situation makes me extremely uncomfortable. They claim they’ve done nothing wrong, but did delete some posts after I contacted the original artists I could get a hold of, who I assume contacted them directly to have it taken down. They also stopped posting new content which made me reluctant to take this public. However they’ve now made a new post that’s clearly traced as well (Loiseautattoo) and I can’t in good conscience keep quiet anymore.
Before they stopped answering my dm’s they told me this was all a misunderstanding and that they always credited which clearly is a lie. They also told me that I should tell them who to credit, to which I replied I’d assume they knew better than me who’s art they’d copied. I want to point out that a lot of these pieces have the name of the artist in the image itself so there’s simply no excuse. At this point it’s way past the point of missing crediting, this is stealing. Stealing someone’s art, ideas and lines, claiming it as their own and it makes me feel sad and disappointed.
I’m not making this post so people can go after them. Please don’t do that.
My goal is simply letting people know of the situation at hand so they can make an informed decision about whether or not they want to continue to like their posts and follow this person.
The images shows the original art first, middle shows original art overlaid their post with opacity lowered and the last is their post.
Left: Loiseautattoo, Aceriee, Dorodraws
Right: comparing my piece to their post
Left: Bamf-castiel, Quercusrubra, Brightfallenstars
Right: Calamity-Annie, Kougamishinyas, Hardcoremisery
Left: Feredir, anonymous artist, JackieD
Right: Pumkinet, Fidisart, Gio
The reason I’m making this likely too long post is that I want to educate people. Too many don’t care about crediting or supporting artists. Doing what this person does is not ok! You might get away with it when you don’t have many followers and a low number of likes. But if your account grows, more people will see and the likelihood of being called out grows exponentially. Tracing or copying another artists work does not fall under ‘taking inspiration from’ and saying ’credit to the artist/owner’ is not giving credit. You will be hard pressed to find an artist who hasn’t traced something at some point in their life, and tracing can be a great tool to improve your skills. But even if you’re super proud of the end result, it’s not ok to post it on social media, claiming it as your own by not stating specifically that this is traced and who or where the original is from.
If you enjoy looking at art and fan art I ask you to keep your eyes open. If you come across someone who post new art multiple times a day, or you notice they have very inconsistent styles in different drawings there’s a good chance that the owner of the account is not the owner of the content they post. If you find yourself suspicious, please do some digging, don’t accuse or call out anyone unless you are sure. And if you find these words hitting a bit too close to home; do better! Don’t steal from fellow artists! It makes me especially angry to see someone piggyback off of years of fanart stolen from within the community because we’re a small community and I admire every single person that have put the time and effort into making art that they’ve shared with the fandom over the years. And that is why I’m making this post even if don’t want to and it makes me highly uncomfortable to do so.
Non-writers will assume that you control every action a character makes and will think you’re crazy for saying “I do not control every action my character makes” but it’s true. As a writer you will be writing something where you go “And so Character A does this” and Character A looks at you straight in the eye and goes, “No FVCK YOU IM GONNA DO THIS INSTEAD”, takes the keys and drives away in the plot car on a narrative of their own choosing while you’re just left stranded going, “DAMMIT I HAVE TO REWRITE THE OUTLINE FOR THE TWENTY-SIXTH TIME”
This is about Sci-Hub. yeah we get it.. gatekeep knowledge and protect the interests of capital…
Listen, this is serious.
Do not use the website called Sci-Hub!
It lets people access scientific articles for free. This is dangerous. It helps the free flow of knowledge and reduces the competitive edge of all the people who worked really hard to have been born into a wealth.
Like, it’s literally a website where you can type in the DOI of an article and read it, without ever having to pay the publisher who exploited the author.
So, again, do not, under any circumstance, use Sci-Hub. I mean, can you imagine a world where knowledge is free and easily accessible to everyone? Even, y'know, poor people?
Libgen also has many books online, including textbooks, searchable by name, author, and ISBN. Can you imagine textbook companies not getting their hard-earned income from poor college students? Here is the link just so you make sure that you never accidentally stumble across this horrible, unethical website.
Oh, and while we’re talking about books, if you’ve managed to stay clear from Libgen, definitely don’t go to zlibrary, where you can also find a lot of textbooks, but unfortunately they’re completely free.

Plagiarism Alert: Author Romilly King Plagiarized Destiel Fanfic
eHey ya'll - reposting this on Tumblr, on behalf of a the OP on Twitter, who gave me permission. The original thread is here: https://twitter.com/KokomRoily/status/1422965705167806471
(if you have trouble reading the side-by-sides check Twitter)
FROM TWITTER (I am NOT the "I" in these! But I know who is, they're a friend, and this evidence looks pretty iron-clad to me)
>I'm what you'd call a voracious reader. I read all the time, everywhere. I read non-fiction, fiction, & fanfiction. I don't discriminate great stories. What I do despise is plagiarism. Color me surprised when I bought "Paid to Kneel" by Romilly King. It seemed so familiar.
>By chapter 2, I realised I could mouth along with the lines, because this is almost verbatim "You can hurt me, it's okay, baby" by Blue_Jack.
>All of these screenshots are of "Paid to Kneel" (with yellow highlights of plagiarised text) next to "If you hurt me, that's okay, baby" by Blue_Jack on Ao3.
(unforth's note: ...I've hit Tumblr's image limit, but you get the idea. There are even more images on Twitter, but even just these ten prove the point. Here's the rest of OP's commentary from the thread)
>I contacted Blue Jack to see if they're Romilly. They're not. They filed a plagiarisation claim with Amazon, who pulled the book. The audio book still remains, for the moment.
>Romilly has published a book approximately once a month during 2020 and into 2021. It's entirely possible she's been writing ahead of time and is only publishing now. It's also entirely possible she's plagiarised more fic.
>The plagiarisation isn't even remotely subtle.
>This was a work put out into the world to be enjoyed for free. Blue_Jack spent *hours and hours* writing and editing this *for free*, for people to enjoy *for free*, and someone tried profiting from it. That's not okay.
>If this fanfiction has been plagiarised so thoroughly, how can I trust other books by Romilly aren't also plagiarised fic? If this fanfiction has been plagiarised so thoroughly, how can I trust other books by Romilly aren't also plagiarised fic?
>I suggest you go read the fanfic, if you like kinky Destiel. It's *most* excellent. https://archiveofourown.org/works/5200685
And a little more from me -
Romilly King has almost 23 books out since early last year up on Amazon. They've got thousands of reviews on Goodreads. Given how often they publish, and how flagrantly they plagiarized this one, whatcha want to bet they've stolen wholesale from many different authors in different fandoms? This is major, guys, and totally unacceptable.
Spread this like wild-fire, and let's bring this plagiarist down in flames!
Alright, since notes are kind of all over the place, I wanted to post a brief update with things I know now that I didn't when I wrote this yesterday. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but I'll try to be thorough.
Romilly King has been withdrawing from social media; their Twitter has been deleted and their Facebook group is gone. They've not issued any public statements as far as we're aware.
There has been news coverage on the Daily Dot and the Mary Sue
Two people who worked with King have been identified and peripherally involved - Emma Jaye, who did some editing for King, and Gavin McAllister, who did the narration for the Audible books. There is zero evidence that either knew about the plagiarism. DO NOT harass them! They are victims of King's deceit as well.
So far, only "Paid to Kneel" has been removed from Amazon and other sales platforms.
The following people with Kindle Unlimited accounts have offered to help do side-by-side comparisons, so no one has to buy the books to check: @clonesdreamgirl; @shamelesslymkp; ...at least one other, I'm not finding it in the notes rn, though, I'm sorry. *sweat drop*
A lot of leads are being tracked across various platforms, but King was just good enough at this that finding originals has proved very challenging.
That said, four works have now been identified:
1. The original instance: King's "Paid to Kneel" is actually "If You Hurt Me, That's Okay, Baby" by blue_jack.
2. King's works "Handled" and "Cleansed" are actually "CONventional Psychopathy" parts 1 and 2 by @mayalaen. Maya's initial Amazon take down request was rejected, but she's working on compiling more evidence and will re-file.
3. We've just figured out a third - @nickelkeep communicated with fannyvonfabulus and the author has confirmed that King's "Paid to Take Control" is stolen from their Stony work, "You've Built Your Wall So High (That No-One Can Climb It)". This is also the first confirmed plagiarized piece that didn't start as Destiel.
4. As an aside we also have strong suspicions that "This is Not Revenge" and "What Revenge Looks Like" are, if not directly plagiarized, likely rewritten from the deleted work "With Understanding" by apokteino. There are enough plot elements in common that it's dubious, though a couple side-by-side comparisons didn't reveal direct plagiarism, and we're not pursuing it more at this time because apokteino deleted their AO3 and isn't known to be on any other social media - so even if it was, we wouldn't know who to contact to file the DCMA.
As far as I know, those are the big things at the moment.
Unraveling King's lies is a huge job - there are an immense number of dark BDSM fics and sub-for-hire fics across every major fandom, totaling thousands of fics. To everyone who has helped so far - THANK YOU - we have been trying to chase every lead we get (me, OP, and @nickelkeep), and many others have also been helping follow up on leads, especially folks who commented here that they have Kindle Unlimited. The work isn't done yet, though, so if you're reading this and you haven't yet taken a look at the summaries - please do. We've had plausible leads from Supernatural, the Witcher, Hannibal, MCU, 1D, Sherlock, and many other fandoms - don't assume it couldn't touch your fandom! Romilly was picking based on kinks that would fit their audience. Please, please, help - if it was your story, if it was your fave, you'd want them to get credit. The authors who've been stolen from can file for the works to be removed, AND can get restitution from Amazon, AND can potentially sue King - so this is a big, big deal.
We couldn't have done this without everyone on Tumblr, Twitter, Reddit, Discord, and elsewhere who has helped - by looking, by spreading the word, by suggesting leads.
Thank you everyone!!
Sterek reverse bang part two! This drawing was inspired by a fic by the talented @deancebra which was inspired by my prompt that I posted earlier! It’s a scene from the fic, which you can find here
Ahhh it’s finally posting time! This was my prompt for the sterek reverse bang, which inspired a beautiful and amazing fic by @deancebra you can read the fic here and I’d highly recommend you do! Here’s the summary for it:
When Derek finds another unconscious human in the forest, he fully expects him to die like the ones before him. What he does not expect is to find someone who understands his sorrow and shares his pain of losing everything too early. He never thought he would have a pack again. Yet Stiles seems to be everything his wolf could have ever wanted.
We need to talk about comments, y’all.
Today I got this comment on a fic I wrote and posted last year.
It was a fic that a lot of readers dislike. This is not nearly the worst thing said in the comment section of this fic. What really stands out about this one is it’s the fourth comment left over several months on the same fic by the same reader. It was left in response to my own comment when the reader asked me to clarify and edit/expound on a few (major) plot points within the story:
I’m going to reply to this because it’s gonna annoy me if I dont: I wrote a story I love and it’s going to stand or not, without me explaining anything. What the reader takes from it, or emotions drawn by it are the reader’s. Crit is never fun and franky wasn’t asked for and no, I won’t explain anymore. The readers can and should draw their own conclusions and emotions from the story as it was written.
I want to be SUPER FUCKING CLEAR here about the sequence of events:
I wrote a fic that’s 35k+. I spent my free time writing a story I like and shared it with fandom because I’m nice like that. And a reader requested I change it. Then demanded I change it. Then insulted me when I said no.
That’s like getting pissy when someone won’t take back and buy you a different gift. That’s what fic writers are. That’s what we do. Artists and authors are giving gifts to the fandom.
Unless you’re writing for a commission–to date something I’ve never done–you aren’t hired for this. Unless it’s a fill for a charity auction–this was not–or a reverse bang–this was not–no one else gets a say in the story process.
Lemme repeat that:
No one else gets a say in the story process.
You don’t like a fic, don’t fucking read it. I don’t care if you don’t read my stories. I write them for me and hope that other folk like them but at the end of the day, I’m gonna write them either way.
So why is this kind of shitty comment so fucking annoying, arei?
I am so fucking glad you asked!
Because if asshat reader is saying that to one fic writer–they’re saying it to others. And me? I’ve got a thick skin. I don’t care what people say about my stories or my characterization or if they want me to explain XYZ and change a huge plot point.
But a baby fic writer who just published their first piece and gets this commentary? That person cares.
The seasoned fic writer who is mentally exhausted and running on comments/kudos and coffee and hoping for a pick me up? That person cares.
The fic author who is convinced no one reads (Because let’s be honest, comments are hard to garner these days), who is thrilled because hey COMMENT? That person cares.
And maybe this kind of asshole comment is why they quit.
This is the kind of shit that makes fandom creators stop creating. It’s entitled and it’s rude and it needs to fucking stop.
We write for ourselves and we’re happy to share, but check your entitlement, dear readers, because that’s not cool at all. You are owed exactly nothing in fandom. Everything you find from artists and authors? Is a gift. Treat it like one.
This art was made for @sterekreversechallenges for the 2021 round! This is an additional piece of art for the fic “the essence” written by inatshej who wrote nothing short of a 20K fic where Derek is in his best werewolfy-stalker mode and basicly refuses to explain anything to Stiles. You can check it out on Ao3 here for this challenge!
This piece feature Derek and his sundae. The image stuck in my head, so I had to draw it!
You can see the original art prompt here

I know we put “don’t forget to bookmark, comment, and leave kudos” in every “found” response, but I want to make it clear that those aren’t just throw away words. If a fic was good enough, memorable enough, important enough for you to come to us to find it so you could read it again, the absolute least you can do is hit that kudos button. Better yet - commenting takes just a moment, and it means so much to the author.
“But S,” you say “I don’t know what to say!” Something about that fic stuck in your mind. A line, a mental image, a situation. Tell the author. Write “I could not get this line out of my head. It’s fantastic and so in character!” Say “Tony’s reaction here hit me right in the feels” or “Steve is such a good boyfriend!” As long as it’s positive and polite, there’s no such thing as a wrong way to comment.
“But it’s so old,” you sputter. “I don’t want to comment on a 7-year-old fic and seem like an idiot!” I’m here to tell you that I’ve actually asked several writers about this, and without exception they have said they love comments on old fics. They love knowing that someone is still getting joy out of work they posted so long ago.
“I’ll comment on the last chapter,” you promise. “I don’t want to seem creepy by commenting on every chapter.” Again, 100% of the authors asked LOVE waking up to notifications that someone has commented on multiple or even all the chapters of a fic. There is no such thing as too much encouragement in the form of comments.
“I just discovered this great writer, and I commented on the first fic I read,” you whisper, ashamed. “But I don’t want to seem like a stalker now that I’m working my way though their entire catalog.” BZZZZZZZZ! FLAG ON THE PLAY! My friend, I am here to tell you that zero authors will find that stalkerish. Again, authors like to know their stuff is being read and enjoyed.
“So, if I don’t like the fic I should tell them where they went wrong?” Oh no. Oh HELL NO. They didn’t go wrong, it’s just not the right fic for you. Comment if there’s an element you enjoyed, but under not circumstances should you offer “constructive criticism” unless it’s been requested. I don’t like every book I read; I don’t email the author to let them know. Every writer I know has a circle of trusted friends that lovingly tear apart their writing. Please leave the constructive criticism to them.
In summation: if you liked then you shoulda put a comment on it.
Seriously. Comment. Bookmark (with comments, even!). Leave kudos.
I’m bringing this back to remind people that YOU DO NOT get to tell an author that they shouldn’t have written something the way they did, and you sure as hell don’t get to say you’re going to make an edit of their work to change elements (like removing characters) so it suits you.
And if you use slurs in your comments or tags, you are a trash human.

Oh, fuck.
If Dean's "me too" was the original trigger for the Empty, if Dean reciprocating is what caused Cas's happiness... Can you imagine what Dean would be feeling as he sat on the floor watching Cas vanish?
"the very touch of you corrupts" - if Dean didn't love Cas back, the Empty wouldn't have taken him.
Now imagine how that would make Dean Guilt Complex Winchester feel, to know that him loving Cas doomed him.
Outstanding. A worse ending then game of thrones. I didn't know that was possible.
