Summary: Lan Zhan goes to meet his boyfriend’s parents for the first time on the eve of the lunar new year. He finds a lot more warmth and acceptance than he expected. Kay's comments: This story was the warm blanket I needed after I got soaked in a heavy rainfall on the way home (literally). I am in love this story. The characterization of Wei Ying's parents was perfect! I loved how they welcomed Lan Zhan! No angst, just comfort! Excerpt: “It’s so cold outside it won’t take much,” Wei Changze commented. He smiled kindly at Lan Zhan. “Would you like some tea? We picked up some biluochun the other day.” His favorite. Lan Zhan wondered if that was the type the Weis usually drank or if they had gotten some especially for him, like they had done with the slippers. “Mn. Thank you,” he said. Wei Changze just nodded again and looked towards Wei Ying. “A-Ying, you do remember where the pot is?” he asked. “Yes, ba,” Wei Ying replied, already moving to prepare the tea. As he took out the metal canister containing the tea, Lan Zhan noticed that he had to break the seal to get it open. He felt his heart warm, something deep in his chest relaxing, a long-held breath finally released. Perhaps there had been no need to worry so much about this dinner after all.

Summary: Wei Wuxian knew perfectly well what it looked like to other people when he draped himself all over Lan Zhan, wore the other man's sweaters, and ate his handmade lunches. He knew what the stares and whispers that followed them meant when he took Lan Zhan's hand or loudly said 'I'll see you at home' when Lan Zhan came to see him at work. Just... Lan Zhan didn't. At least, he certainly never acted like he noticed and Wei Wuxian hoped it stayed that way. As long as Lan Zhan didn't notice, he'd let Wei Wuxian keep clinging to him, would let him take his hand and steal his clothes. Kay's comments: From 0 to 100 Wangxian Style. I loved this so much. Delightful flavour of mutual pining not even containing any angst! Excerpt: "I left my hoodies at home," Wei Wuxian said, which in his opinion was a perfectly normal thing for anyone to do in late autumn when the temperature outside was dropping and the first frosts had already laid claim to the dying grass. "Naturally," Wen Qing said, deadpan. She glanced to the other end of couch and said, without a hint of surprise. "Oh look, Lan Wangji left his sweater behind." Wei Wuxian practically sprang up from his melancholy sprawl and saw immediately that Wen Qing was correct. A soft blue sweater was draped neatly over the back of the couch, the light color a stark contrast to the dark upholstery. Lan Zhan's sweater was the next best thing to the man himself. Without hesitation, Wei Wuxian seized it and happily pulled it on, trying not to be too obvious about inhaling lungfuls of the sandalwood scent that clung to the fibers.

Wangxian Gotcha for Gaza: Interest Check

Attention Wangxian fans! The MXTX Food Zine mod team won’t have much to do until around March, so I finally have the time to run a Gotcha event for Wangxian shippers! If you’re interested in participating as a prompter or a creator, fill out the interest check here.

Creators will be welcome to contribute any type of fanwork, such as fic/podfic, cold reads of novel scenes, art, video edits, and moodboards or aesthetic gifsets. Donators will be asked to select a preferred type of fanwork so their prompts can be matched to the creators most suited to them.

In keeping with previous fandom Gotchas, the Wangxian Gotcha will follow the same pricing structure of $5USD for S/FW prompts and $8USD for N/SFW prompts.

Please consider joining as a creator, submitting a prompt, or sharing this post if you can’t do either. Creator sign-ups will be open from January 11 to January 30, and donations will be open from February 10 to March 10 or until contributors reach capacity. The interest check will close on December 31.

This was a pretty amazing experience.

I was the first person in line for Cockles ops and since there had been a girl getting a Misha re-take right before me, Jensen was talking with Clif while he waited. Misha actually had to pull Jensen over to the op.

So Jensen comes up, apologizes to me for the wait, and I tell him it’s fine (I may have stuttered a little, he’s VERY pretty and this was my first time meeting him)

I give Misha the asexual pride flag and ask him to put it over his shoulders. I knew Misha already knew what the flag was (see here and here), but I was uncertain about Jensen, so I hand him the bisexual pride flag (he actually needed help getting it over both shoulders) and tell him, “Just so you know, this is the bisexual pride flag”.

He can’t hear me over the music, so he says, “What?”

So I repeat, “This is the bisexual pride flag, for people that are fans of bisexual Dean. Is this ok?” (I forget exactly what I said, but I know I mentioned what it was, why, and I checked to see if he was cool with it.)

Jensen thinks about it for a moment, then smiles and chuckles a bit. He nods and goes, “Ok, let’s do this.”

I turned to face the camera, Chris snaps the picture, and I collect the flags. Jensen actually pulled me into a hug as I was leaving. (And several people in line cheered and told me ‘thank you’.)

This was honestly pretty magical and I’m glad it turned out so well!

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Hm... I don't tend to DO sad endings? Though maybe for some of the shortfic I've done tragic endings... I usually end up writing a follow-up to fix it though.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? The one I'm currently writing, probably XD

Do you get hate on fics? Not really, actually! I do get some comments that make me go '... rly. why would you tell me this', but any hate I got was for older works when I was on FFN instead of AO3

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? Not really! I'm not a huge fan of crossovers so I usually don't write them either.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Once, by accident. Someone read my fic, had a dream about it, then wrote the same fic thinking it was based on their dream (back in Naruto fandom, years and years and years ago.)

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes!

Have you ever co-written a fic before? I have not, I would have to find the right person to co-write with, I tend to be very specific in what I want.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Probably 'I cling to a single red thread', I'm just not as into Hualian and have so many MDZS projects in my head I'm not sure I'll circle back to it.

What are your writing strengths? Not entirely sure, tbh? I think I do ok writing smut and angst and I try to make my plots make sense, but goodness knows if any of it is hot/sad/sensible to anyone but me.

What are your writing weaknesses? I try not to reuse the same words/actions too frequently and sometimes I worry I go overboard on emphasizing something or explaining something and the readers get bored.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? Best if you actually know the language you're attempting to do this in, but can be very effective and give little Easter eggs to the readers who either also speak the language or use a translation app.

First fandom you wrote for? InuYasha!

Favorite fic you’ve written? The one I'm working on now is probably my favorite thing ever, ngl. Had it in my head for a year before I started writing, worked on it for a year before I started posting, and I've been posting about one chapter a month for over a year and a half now! (it's also my LONGEST fic ever, at over 100k and still going!)

Fun fact! The actors move through the aisles so depending on your sitting you have the opportunity to see the costumes up close

Also apparently the audience is referred in the play as lwj’s bunnies, gently touching the 4th wall and this stupid detail made me so happy

This show is a 2D.5 play, which means it uses projection mapping (2D) combined with the stage, props and actors (3D).
