Sam Winchester + praise | 9.01 I think I'm Gonna Like It Here
in all seriousness jack is one of the best things that supernatural ever did for their characters. sam confronting his feelings of impurity/being a "freak"/unable to control his powers??? dean being forced to really confront the roughness in which he was raised and finally being in a position where he is capable of parenting?? cas being loved unconditionally and no longer having to worry about being alone in the world when sam and dean are gone because he has another immortal cosmic entity to share his life with???? all of this through parenting little jack!!! its self recognition through the other babes and its breaking cycles of trauma and its found family at its finest!!!
In what way was Dean forced to confront his own childhood through Jack? He barely recognized him as a person. He saw him as 'other' and was visibly freaked out by the connection Sam felt to him (he also didn't like Cas' feelings of fatherhood but the Sam connection horrified him). Dean didn't parent, at least not in any positive sense of the word. At the best of times he let Jack be and threw him crumbs, but he was never comfortable with Jack's affection towards him and he was very comfortable with the idea of killing him multiple times.
There was no breaking of any abusive cycles, and it's bizarre to say there were.
There was, in fact, major doubling down on abusive cycles.
To the point where Sam gets dragged into complicity, defending Dean’s behavior and trapping Jack in 14.19, despite the aforementioned ways in which Sam is trying to be a good parent to Jack.
Late seasons but Dean and Jack are jealous of each other's place in Sam's life.
Fuck Jack wanting Dean's approval, they should be mutually disliking and resenting each other. Because Jack is Sam's child but he will never come first and Deant wants to be everything for Sam but he can't fill this role.

I am not a Sam Winchester apologist. I do not believe he has done anything wrong. You apologize to him!
