it ended today and it’s truly a crime to me that seemingly nobody’s brought weapon x-traction to the attention of the non-comic deadclaws fans. it’s the only comic i’ve read that explicitly calls wade pansexual and emphasizes his queerness without it being the butt of the joke. it’s the only thing i’ve ever read that had me genuinely laughing pretty much the whole time. it has some utterly enchanting art. and as of this week and the last it has deadclaws LITERALLY finding each other in every universe

with everything about this comic taken into account i’m so sure that the subtextual intention for it being romantic was there. because like yeah what the fuck is happening in any of this. what’s happening HERE?

it’s crazy to think that the “best” wolverine (our wolverine that we have held dear for decades, who was immortalized in comic books, who saved the world time and time again, who protected the x men and mutants persecuted for existing, who died with his heart (laura) in his hands) death inadvertently saved the worst wolverine. he was dragged out of that bar by deadpool because our wolverine, so important and cherished that his absence threatened to collapse and he entire timeline, and was forced to face his trauma, to face himself, to face death, and in return found reasons to live. he thought himself a villain but was a hero at heart. he tried to be a loner but longed for a pack. wade saw that this suicidal practically indestructible self loathing man matched his crazy and latched on, inviting him home. laura saw glimpses of her own savior in this broken man and opened her heart (her own logan had opened his first last time so it was only fair). logan was given a purpose (saving the world, devotion to wade laura and now wades friends) and a home. all bc of our own wolverines sacrifice. hm

I need to go back to college so I can write a paper about queer theory in Deadpool bark bark bark bark

I keep rotating it in my mind, because I would argue it’s the queerest MCU film by miles, probably the queerest superhero movie, but we’re not seeing boasting articles about Disney’s or Marvel’s “first queer superhero,” and why? Shipping aside, it’s confirmed both textually and in interviews that Wade is pan and it’s not subtle but it feels like that doesn’t “count” to people.

From my perspective it stands in stark contrast to past LGBT characters in the films, which were all either cut (like Valkyrie) or “blink and you miss it” moments. But Wade’s sexuality is inherent to his character and it’s even referenced more in DP3 than either of the first two.

(There is also Negasonic and Yukio - who were basically grandfathered in, lol, but they weren’t allowed more than a few cuddles in DP3. It’s more than blink it you miss it, but if you didn’t watch DP2 you can just assume they’re friends.)

I think the reason has part to do with the humor; people can shrug it off as Wade being irreverent, or even making gay jokes at the expense of others. This combined with biphobia seals it: since Wade has a girlfriend he can’t possibly have a meaningful queer identity. But he DOES. he does.
