"WELCOME BACK TO TEEN TITANS TIME!"
Such words make everyone around campus go crazy. Catch up on the latest drama! Whisper about it along the halls, heading to class, good gosh, it doesn't even have to be on campus, and you'll be hearing the drama. I mean, that is, if you're in the circle of Teen Titans Time.
You weren't a crazy fan like everyone around; you're not up to date with it all, but you're not clueless either. Literally everyone around yaps about it all day long. The thing is, you never had time for that stuff; you came here to pave your future, not to get drunk, jump in bed, or read about business that isn't yours. You strayed away from it, actually.
You're not stupid, honestly, you were far from that. At the top of your classes, the person others dump the whole project on, or jump with joy when paired up with. You have a reputation of your own, yes, but an old friend of yours, just like you, gained a different kind of reputation after she got caught up in this Teen Titans Time. One peak is all it took for her to be addicted, then you meet others, then you have fun. Simple.
Her reputation was different from yours. She knew people; you knew books.
You weren't jealous, never you. You were just disappointed and alone. Not loner wise, you have your peers, just they weren't the same as hers. You can't do anything about it now, can you? You felt this way because there's this one class you both loved attending together, seated together, and working together. But now, every time that class comes around, she's seated somewhere else, with her new friends. She doesn't ignore you, but she doesn't talk to you either. It sucks, right?
A sigh left your lips as that same class rolled around. Like normal, you sat in your seat and took out your stationery. Your eyes caught her, saw how she entered the room, glanced at you with a smile, then sat at the other end of the room. You stared at the back of her head, taking in each and every person who surrounded her.
You knew the group, just like everyone else in the class did. You were all blessed to share the class with his presence, along with two of his peers.
The Richard 'Dick' Grayson. Of course you've heard of him, even if you don't go to his college. He's the adopted son of the Wayne family, a popular model among people his age, probably more, and, of course, because he's the "life of the party." There isn't a party that Dick and his friends haven't been to; not only that, but he's the captain of the basketball team. So does it surprise you that they all flock to him like birds? No.
The other is Wally West, maybe your favorite out of the bunch. Unlike the others, he's at least a bit respectable, but you won't go out of your way to fall to your knees like everyone else does around him. There's no surprise that he's also on the basketball team, but out of the whole group, he's the closest to Dick. No one has once seen them openly fight or have a problem with each other. You like that about them. The surprising part is that he's actually okay in his grades, better than the rest.
Lastly, there's Roy Harper. You don't know much about him, but you do know that he's blunt with everyone, so he doesn't really have many fans compared to his friends, but some still do flock because they like the way he pushes them away.. On the team as well, no shocker. You don't go to these parties, but you've heard that once he's drunk, he's less blunt with words, but when they flock to him, he will get handsy. Maybe that's why some of them stay..
There's more in this group, like Wally's girl, Kaldur, Conner, and his ex. Personally, you don't go digging around for all their information, so why is Conner's ex still with them when you recently found out not only is he dating someone else, but it's one of Dick's brothers? You don't really know, and you don't want to. At least they're on good terms, you think..
Your pencil made contact with the floor, breaking you out of your trance. You looked around the room and saw that more people were here, followed by the professor making his way in. With a sigh, you picked up the pencil and got ready for class.
On the other side of the room, some eyes were looking at you as a smile slowly formed.
"What's so funny?" Roy asked, looking at the girl beside her.
She shook her head, yet her stare did not break. The boys around her glanced in her direction, but only found you getting ready to take notes.
"Wasn't that your friend?" He asked, and in response, he got a nod.
Dick eyes made it to your face, lowering it to your desk, your bag, then you at the whole.
"That used to be you, right?" Dick muttered.
"Mm."
A thought formed in his mind, will you change just like her? Or will you stray far away from all of this?
It didn't stay long in his head as he shrugged it off, turning to face his desk just to rest his head and snore the lecture away.
Finally, it was over, and the room slowly emptied but also filled with talk. You were packing up your stuff, and in the middle of that, you were approached by the professor.
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw him slowly making his way by you, so you looked up, waiting for him to speak. You saw his smile beaming back at you, and inside, you slowly crumble. You knew he was about to ask you to do something.
"Miss, the decoration team needs help decorating the hall. I already went out of my way recommending you, without asking.. I know. Sorry about that, but they're waiting for you, kay?"
With a bored look, you stared back at the man. You can't do anything about it, honestly, can't lash out or speak your mind. So you just nodded, followed by a small smile as you went back to packing.
You totally don't have things to do after this. Totally..
With a sigh, you got up from your seat and made it to the hall. You don't really enter this part of the campus; you don't have a reason to. But you will admit, whenever you do, you do enjoy the view. The hall was literally the basketball hall, but it's used for everything at this point.
Your ears caught wind that they're having a Christmas event soon, so maybe that's why they're decorating. You probably won't even attend anyway..
Soon, you made it, you heard conversations left and right, laughter filling in, and the squeak of shoes hitting the floor. It didn't take long for you to find the group you were supposed to help, wasting no time in making your way over there. When you got there, you realized they weren't even getting started; no, they were distracted. Talking about some drama. You rolled your eyes.
You looked odd compared to the group, all huddling up together, then there's you outside by yourself, standing all awkward. You hated the feeling, cursing in your mind. You just made your way to the bleachers, and they already managed to move and just pulled out a book and pen, distracting yourself until they were ready.
Remember when you said you didn't really want to be here? One reason is that it's really hard to concentrate here. You hear things you really don't want to. Unfortunately for you, a "couple" was hiding right behind you, behind the bleachers.
"I didn't tell you to hang around me. Why are you complaining about who I'm with? You literally have a boyfriend."
You heard a long, loud sigh from the female.
"I know that Conner, but he isn't around with me.."
"So? What does that have to do with me? Or Tim?"
You hated that with all those hints, you figured out who was behind the bleachers. Your eyes rolled. Can they take this somewhere else? Before you could listen again, not that you wanted to, an incoming basketball came flying right beside you, scaring the shit out of you.
A scream escaped your lips as your body jumped, dropping your book and pencil. Conner and M'gann heard your scream and finally noticed they weren't alone, which gave Conner the sign to just walk away from her. Above, you looked around and saw a laughing Artemis, a concerned Wally, and an annoyed Roy. You had no clue what was happening, but you knew it wasn't directed totally at you when you saw Dick running up to you.
He grabbed the ball, but also gave you his troubled expression.
"Genuinely, are you okay? They were annoying Roy, and he threw it out of frustration; it wasn't supposed to hit anyone." He explained.
You stared at him, annoyance bubbling up, but you didn't want anything to do with him, with this, anything. So you just nodded, not even looking at him as you moved to collect your items.
He wasn't used to this cold reaction. Normally, everyone flashes him their pearly whites, giggle or something..
So he stared at you for a bit, until you noticed.
"What..?" You muttered, eyebrow raising in confusion.
He didn't respond, just shook his head as he slowly removed himself and made it back to his friends.
"What was that about?" Wally asked, taking the ball from him.
"What was what?" Dick asked, grabbing his phone from his pocket.
Artemis walked up to him, shoving his shoulder, in hopes of annoying him.
"He's talking about the staring contest you gave her, that she probably didn't like."
"It looked like that," Roy muttered, causing the laugh to escape Artemis yet again.
Dick didn't like it. He rolled his eyes at his friends and just focused on his screen.
"I literally don't care."
"Sure.." She muttered, her eyes caught both Conner and M'gann as they made their way over to the group.
"Oh, they're back." She started.
Wally looked up for confirmation and finally told the group that it was time to go.
"Kaldur's waiting for us."
You, on the other hand, peaked and saw that the group was finally leaving the court. At that time, the decorating team finally called you over to begin decorating.
"Why are we being called into the library?" Conner asked.
Wally slowed his movement so he could walk beside Conner and answer him.
"Kaldur." He simply stated.
Conner stared at him with a blank expression.
"Well, duh.." He mumbled, walking away from Wally, leaving him with a fake frown.
Dick saw, and with a smirk, he went to comfort his best friend.
Though the library door slowly came into view as the two females in front opened the door and made it into the air-conditioned room.
It didn't take long for them to make out their friend, who was seated right next to Tim. Visibly, M'gan's face dropped, and Artemis noticed, giving her friend a comforting smile as she dragged her with her to sit right opposite them.
Slowly, the boys filled in, and everyone was seated.
Kaldur looked up from his laptop and finally greeted his friends.
"I'll keep things short for you guys, and I'll be honest, especially those who are on the team. I heard your coach complaining, along with your professors.. Everyone besides Wally and Artemis, improve your GPA.."
"Oh!" Wally started, glancing at his girlfriend, who looked back at him with fake annoyance, yet she smiled back. The others, though, weren't very happy like the couple.
Kaldur, on the other hand, glanced at Tim and forgot to clarify something.
"Oh, not you. You're good." And with that, Tim nodded, a smirk forming.
Finally, a sigh escaped everyone else as they began to complain.
"Calm down, I know some students who can help you all, and they do include Wally and Artemis,"
Now it was their turn to sigh.
Kaldur began explaining everything to them. Basically, those who got the easy way out, as in their own friends to tutor them, were Conner, who got Tim, Roy, who got Wally, and M'gann, who got Artemis. That left Dick alone, who was the most grumpy in the whole bunch.
He asked questions, complained, and simply asked why couldn't his best friend just help him?
"Because I don't trust you both."
"Yeah, right, then why don't you?" He asked, pointing fingers.
"I don't go to your lecture, she does." He explained, pointing behind him.
Everyone turned their heads and, as soon as their eyes landed on her, Artemis burst out in laughter, followed by Wally.
"Oh, I can tell, she's gonna hate this.." Artemis giggled as her eyes followed your movement, saw how you stopped in your tracks and pulled out your phone, read some messages, and looked up to find out that she was being stared at, and with haste, you made it to the table, annoyance on your face.
"Kaldur, I admire you as a member of the Student Government, but I would like to decline your recommendation."
"Why? You like teaching."
You glance at everyone, then back at Kaldur.
"I do but.. I'd rather someone who will actually put in the effort."
"I will?" Dick blurted.
You glared at him, staring at him with slight disgust. You ignored him.
"Don't you know that I don't like being in the spotlight?" You started, staring at Kaldur.
He nodded, but glanced down at his laptop.
"I know, but he needs help. I promise you will get something in return. You're the only one I can trust with my friend."
You rolled your eyes. The only thing you'll get in return is your name in Tea Time or some shit.
"Maybe she knows that Teen Titans Time thing will find out, and she'll be on that.." Artemis muttered.
Oh, that's the name. You nodded at her words, grateful that someone here has sense.
"Well, do it in your room or something. But help him." With that, Kaldur ended the talk, leaving you fuming. You glared at the boy, then stomped off, leaving the library on the whole.
Dick sighed, and in all honesty, was confused.
"She didn't even offer her number? What did I even do? The fuck.." he muttered, hands in his hair now.
"Calm down, I have her number, I'll text you it. Just respect her wishes and be quiet about it."
"Respect her wishes? She doesn't even like me."
Artemis snorted.
And just like that, your life was completely ruined. The one thing you stray away from was given to you on a golden platter. Tutor that?
As if he will know 1 from 2. Bet he will know how to calculate the perfect dunk though.. A frustrated sigh left your lips as you wailed around in your bed, pulling at your hair, wondering how this is all going to work out for you in the end.
"You'll get something in return! He says." You mocked Kaldur, on the verge of just yelling out of anger.
To make things better, your phone vibrated right beside you, you saw the screen light up, and a notification came in. It was from an unknown number.
"Don't tell me.." You muttered, shifting to lie on your belly, and grabbed the phone.
'(###)###-####
kaldur gave me it btw. texting so you can save me'
Your face had disgust written all over it. "So you can save me". Ew.
You didn't even bother to respond, nor unlock the phone. You just wanted to sleep it all away. Maybe this nightmare will be over. But no, it got worse as your phone rang, same number on display.
"Why is he calling me now?" You groaned out.
Frustration was bubbling over now; the thought of how all of this would go was too much for your quiet and comfortable life. Someone else should've been gifted this shit. You let the phone ring, watching as the call disappears after a while, but sadly comes back.
So you accepted reality and answered the phone.
22:03 "Finally, you picked up."
Silence on your end. You didn't want to satisfy him.
22:03 "I have no clue what I did wrong, was it the ball incident? I'm sorry if it was-"
22:04 "No. It's just you all."
22:04 "What? And what did we do?"
Honestly, you said that by accident. Explaining to someone like him that not everyone wants the spotlight would be hard...
22:04 "I don't want that attention you all crave so much."
22:05 "Crave? It came to me, not my fault I'm hot and sexy."
22:05 "Ew.. Whatever, that tea time thing I hate it."
22:05 "Tea time? OH, Teen Titans Time. Yeah, I'm not to big on it either."
22:05 "That's funny.."
22:05 "It is?"
You heard a shift on his end, probably him finding a comfortable spot to lie down.
22:06 "Yeah, you hate the one thing that plants your name in everything? Funny."
22:06 "Well, it's mostly random dumbass drama. It's funny when I'm not in it. So that's why I know you don't want to be in it."
22:06 "Uh no, you don't know."
22:06 "I know enough to keep you away from me so TTT won't put you up, hm?"
22:06 "Whatever."
22:06 "I'll take it. Soo.. what are you going to teach me?"
22:06 "You need to tell me what you're bad at first."
22:06 "OH.. yeah. I will."
This was new. You never thought that you would spend your night on the phone with Dick Grayson. Did you enjoy it? Well, it wasn't one of the best phone calls, but not worse as you both gradually talked more. You still had the cold shoulder. very cold. But for some reason, it pulled him in more.
Normally, Dick Grayson, with one glance, had females running to him. Begging. More. All while he did nothing but just exist. Now, for the first time, he's running after someone, and he wonders, is this how his fans feel when he ignores them?
23:01 "Kay, have to go."
23:01 "Okay. Goodnight."
23:02 "Oh, my night will be good, heading to a party right now."
23:02 -ended- "Richard? I haven't heard that in so long- Oh, she already left."
You stared at the phone, as it all finally sank in. That taste you mentioned before. The one look at it, slowly you'll fall deep in. You will not follow behind like a headless chicken.
That funny feeling you had, actually enjoying the conversation? That was because you haven't called anyone in a while. Anything and everything hits differently when it's been so long.
Dick tossed his phone into his pocket as he jumped into the parked car and was greeted by Wally and Artemis in front.
"Finally, I almost told Wally to leave you." Artemis joked.
"Very funny.." Dick answered back, yet smiled.
Wally finally drove off, turned on the radio, and set the vibes before the party.
"How long do you think you'll last this time bro?" Wally asked.
"All night, duh."
"Nah uh, you need a curfew soon, Miss Tutor will be on your butt hurt ass. She already doesn't even like you." Artemis already started.
Dick sighed out of slight annoyance.
"Do you like her that much? This is like the tenth time you've brought that up."
Artemis shrugged her shoulders.
"I'm more welcoming than you all. But she probably won't like me."
"Who would?" He muttered.
"Your boyfriend-oh, oh MY boyfriend. Your best friend."
Dick glared at her from behind as she laughed.
"Enough guys, stop fighting, and let's all have fun like the bestest of friends."
"Yeah sure.."
"Whatever."
Wally let out a small sigh. Luckily for him, the rest of the ride was somewhat manageable.
When they all finally arrived, the party was already in its prime; people scattered everywhere outside, LED lights flashing from inside, and as soon as Wally lowered the window, the scent of alcohol hit them like a train, followed by sweat and cheap cologne.
"..Can we go home?" Artemis muttered, yet unbuckled her seatbelt.
Her boyfriend beside her let out a small chuckle as he shook his head no.
"I'm afraid it's too late for that, I can see M'gann inside, bet she's waiting for you." Dick started, exiting the car.
A sigh left her lips, as if she could taste trouble coming soon.
"Is she here with her boyfriend?" Wally asked, circling around to meet up with them on the other side.
"Mhm, I just hope she leaves Conner alone.." She muttered as she felt her boyfriend's arm snaking around her.
The boys beside her sighed, yet nodded their heads in agreement as they all made it inside the house. That's when the party really hit them.
The music deafened them, the sights of red cups blinded them, supported by the flashing lights of course.
"Bro, the scent is enough to clean a public bathroom," Wally joked as he dragged Artemis with him towards the source of the scent.
Dick took the opportunity to hunt for Roy; he wasn't in the honest mood to be smothered over by girls as yet. He will need a bit of alcohol in his system first.
When he found his friend, he found him on the couch, a drink in hand. Thankfully, he looked up and saw Dick approaching him, and in his other hand, he extended a cup to the male.
"For me? How kind." Dick joked as he planted himself next to Roy and took the cup from him.
"Yeah, sure.." Roy muttered as he brought his cup to his lips. Dick's eyes scanned the scenery, getting comfortable, and spotted a few familiar faces.
He saw his best friend dancing with his girlfriend, saw his brother with his boyfriend, but the last sight caused a long, loud sigh to escape his lips.
"Yeah, it's been like that since they got here." Roy started, rolling his eyes.
"Can we have one night where they aren't fighting like a married couple? I swear, one minute they use cringe ass nicknames, then the next they're screaming." Dick complained, gulping down the alcohol.
Roy hummed in agreement as his eyes lingered on M'gann and La'gaan.
Dick watched as M'gann's eyes landed on Conner and Tim, faces full of each other's as their hands caressed each other's. She didn't like the sight at all.
But her reaction to them didn't sit well with her boyfriend.
"Why do they bother you? He broke up with you, and you moved on. Right?" La'gaan slightly yelled, only because of the booming music.
But he got no response. And he didn't like it.
"M'gann, look at me."
"What? I'm here, so what's your problem!?"
"My problem!?"
A fight slowly formed as the people around slowly noticed, and the dancing stopped one by one.
On the couch, both men sighed as they held their heads down in shame and frustration.
Now the noise wasn't from the music; it was from the cheers of the people who were witnessing a shouting session. Soon, the noise got to not only Conner and Tim, but Artemis and Wally as well.
"What did I say?" Artemis said to Wally as she shoved her cup into Wally, forcing him to hold it. With haste in her steps, Artemis made it over to the crowd, pushing them aside as she made it to M'gann.
"Girl." Artemis started as she ripped them apart.
M'gann's eyes landed on her friend as she opened her mouth to complain about the boy in front of her, but Artemis beat her to it.
"You need to open your eyes. You don't own Conner anymore, so stop ruining things for everyone because you can't accept the fact that he moved on."
The crowd quieted down as random "oohs" and "oous" were sprinkled in here and there.
All it started with was a sniffle as her tears came crashing down. Artemis felt bad, but she needed M'gann to see that she was being unfair.
Her ears picked up on the familiar sound of Wally walking up to her, and she opened her mouth, not liking the stares she was getting right now.
"We are?" Wally asked, but closed his mouth when he saw the look she gave him.
On the couch, Roy and Dick had already left and made their way over to Conner and Tim, mainly for Dick to comfort his younger brother, kinda.
"There's no sense in staying here. I can give you all a ride." Roy muttered as he placed his cup on a random table, then made his way out.
Those behind followed him, and everything else was a blur. Dick remembered dropping off Conner and Tim, then somehow being in Roy's room, drinking whatever cheap beer he had in his mini fridge.
He was so over this, just like everyone else. It ruins parties, hangouts. It's not the same as it used to be.
When he thinks about things like this, he likes to drown it down with anything that will just make him feel as if he's not in the present, as if maybe he can float back into the good times.
Maybe that's why Roy brought him back here instead of leaving him by himself. It's better to take care of him here than to leave him drunk and alone. He knew Wally wouldn't be at their dorm right now, so his best option was his.
His friend glanced at him, placing his bottle on the table as he grabbed Dick's own.
"I was drinking that.." He slurred.
Roy saw how out of it he looked, thought that enough was enough.
"Just sleep or something, don't throw up on my bed though. Maybe Kaldur's." He muttered, motioning to the bed on the other side.
Dick just groaned as he lay back on the bed he was already seated on and just closed his eyes. Roy let out a sigh of relief as he took the bottles and left the room.
Now Dick was alone, and when alone, he did whatever came first to mind. Right now, he wanted to rant to someone, to just let out his feelings. Normally, he would go to Wally, but as everyone guessed, Wally isn't available right now.
So when Dick pulled out his phone, he rang the last person he talked to, and that was the same time your phone lit up in your dark room, almost hitting the sleep realm.
An annoyed sound dragged out loud and long from your lips as you got up from your pillow and searched for your phone. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion when you read the familiar number of the person you wished not to interact with.
"Why is he calling me again.." You muttered as you answered the phone and waited for his explanation.
But all you got was silence, that is, until you heard a series of words you had no clue what he was saying.
"Did you drunkenly call me?" You asked, recalling that he was at a party.
00:01 "Nuh.. no, I jus'.. y'know, let some stuff out, thas kay?"
You blinked at his words, you made them out, surprisingly, but you were still confused.
00:02 "Um.. okay. Don't you have friends for that?"
00:02 "Not 'vailable.."
00:02 "That sucks, but I was in the middle of sleeping so-"
00:02 "Don'care. Jus listen.."
You were visibly shocked at the audacity he had, but you had no word in anything as he just began to pour everything out like a fountain.
00:02 "Ever since M'gann n Conner broke up.. it jus'.. it ruined the whole friendship, the vibes. Y'know? Like, no more fun nights, jus' fights all the time.. heh, that rhymed.. Nfgm.. I'm happy for Conner n Tim. Duh. Jus' the problem is M'gann. Like accept that Conner's over you.. if it bothers you so bad then like.. leave or some shi.. or like.. ion know, keep it to yourself.."
.
Oh, he's ranting about his messed-up friendship. You rolled your eyes, then gave yourself a pat on the back. This was the same reason why you didn't want to get wrapped up in that side of college. Unnecessary drama? It's unnecessary for a reason.
So why waste your time being wrapped up in it?
00:03 "Just sleep Dick. Rant to your friends next time."
And with that, you ended the call. You did feel a bit bad hanging up on a drunk person who's clearly not okay. But you only cared about yourself right now. Thought about the what-ifs. What if someone walked in on him talking to you? You had no clue where he was anyways.
And that stayed on your mind the whole time you twisted and turned in bed. Is he in a safe place? Still at the party? His friends are better than to just leave him by himself, right?
Of course they are, you just won't know. You judge from afar.
The next day, you wanted to avoid Dick at all costs. It was stronger than before. But it literally doesn't help the fact that he's in most of your classes and has been glancing at you ever since you made it into the room.
Does he have a staring problem? Did he remember everything from last night? Thank goodness his friend made it and took his attention over.
You looked around the room, wondering if anyone had noticed him staring at you, but thankfully, everyone was minding their own business. You, this time, stole a glance at Dick and found him raising his eyebrow at you, but looked away when Wally opened his mouth to yap about whatever their conversation topic was.
You sighed, wishing all of this could just end in the blink of an eye. You've had enough of his staring. But unluckily for you, even when class ended, even when you left the classroom, walking through the halls, you caught him. Always staring.
It irked you. Not the mention he sent some silly ass message to you, choosing your room to meet up so he can give you all the areas he's stuck in. You wanted so badly to just go back to when he wasn't even in your thoughts.
Not to mention, in every direction you turned, you heard it all. Everything Dick ranted to you last night was being broadcast everywhere, thanks to:
"TEEN TITANS TIME! WELCOME BACK, EVERYONE!"
You wanted to slam your head into the lockers.
.
.
.
"Does your friend have a staring problem?" You ranted on the phone to Kaldur.
Kaldur was just as annoyed as you were, but mostly at you.
The call ended with both sides not agreeing with each other, and you threw your phone onto your bed. To make things worse, that dick is coming over soon.
A sigh left your lips, and as soon as you planted yourself onto your bed, knocks on your door were heard, getting a series of swears escaping your lips. You were so close to blowing up like a fuse bomb. To make things worse, he looked drunk.
Your annoyed expression stared back at his red cheeks as he pushed past you, making it into your room, which upset you more.
You slammed the door and realized he didn't even come with his books or a pencil.
"If you're here to waste my time, go be drunk by someone you know." You stated, staring at him from the door.
Your eyes followed him as he made it onto your bed and stared back at you.
"I have everything on my phone, calm down."
"Calm down? Why did you come when you're clearly not sober? If you're trying to get it beat, then go to another room. I'm sure that lady will accept it with open legs."
Your boldness caused his eyebrow to raise, but then his eyes rolled, and his hand dragged down his face.
"I'm not drunk. I just drank a little with Wally. I'm not that stupid. Why are you always so quick to judge?"
Now it was your time to raise your eyebrow.
"I'm just stating the obvious, that's all. Tell me you don't do that?"
"Do what?"
"Get drunk with women, then sleep with them."
You didn't get a response. Which didn't help him in this situation.
"Oh, seems I was right. Let's get this over with and then get out."
He glared at you as he tossed his phone over towards you, then lay back on your pillow. he hated himself right now. Ever since last night, no, ever since you gave him that cold shoulder at the hall, you've been on his mind.
He thought about what if he could make you change your mind. Change your mind about liking his side of college? Liking him? No. Just what if he can change your mind to make you kiss him, make out with him? Everyone he's been with was so easy. He liked it, but for some reason, you denying him brought something more than they didn't. But he hated your tone, the way you're so quick to judge him. He did not like that about you. Which pulled him in more.
Was he being easy? Just like those women? A few insults his way, and now you won't leave his mind.
He peered at you before deciding that he wanted to rest here, right on your bed.
You noticed that you weren't getting any response from him, and oh, did that fuse go off.
As much as you wanted to throw him out, you knew it would cause a scene, and that's the last thing you wanted, especially with him. You could call Kaldur, but you simply don't want to right now.
So you pushed him a bit, giving yourself more space on your own bed as you placed your extra pillow in the middle of you both and then drifted off to sleep.
.
.
It was about 2 when Dick woke up and realized that he wasn't in his dorm, but that he had fallen asleep in yours, yet there was no sense of urgency. His hand made it onto the pillow and gently moved it, eyes landing on your resting face. He will admit, when you don't look annoyed 24/7, you're very pleasing to stare at. Not in a creepy way.
Slowly, he closed the gap between you both, then closed his eyes, wanting to drift back to sleep. But when he closed his, you opened yours.
You stared at him, noticing that he was closer this time and looked down at the pillow that was now behind him. Slowly, you moved back, but the movement caught his attention as his eyes opened and his hand made it on yours, stopping you.
No words were exchanged, both full of sleep, too tired to even care. You stopped, staying right there, but your eyes moved; they followed his movements as he got closer, too close.
Thoughts ran through your mind. Your words from before. Should you stop him?
You caught his hand raising to your cheek, but before he could place it, you swatted his hand away. It hovered in the air as his eyes locked in with yours. You both searched for answers, and in doing so, slowly it got closer and closer back to your cheek; this time, you allowed it.
You hated the fact that you saw no malice in his eyes, only genuineness and truthfulness. So when he caressed your cheek slowly and closed the gap more and more, you allowed it.
Your eyes closed as you felt his breath hitting your lips, and you visibly relaxed when it connected with yours. He didn't rush it; he was testing the waters, and when he felt you kissing back, that's when it gradually awakened in him. He sighed into it, licking your bottom lip, asking for access.
All it took was the slight opening for him to shove his tongue into your mouth, a surprise noise escaping you. You felt the hand from his cheek gradually making its way towards the back of your neck, tilting your face up as, if it's even possible, getting closer to you, nose crashing on each other's. You felt a heavy, hot pit in your stomach mind was going crazy.
What are you even doing? Naughty, not even stopping him.. You don't want to admit that you are even enjoying it.
You felt as he shifted, shifting you as he placed his body above us, his knee between your legs as his other hand made it under your shirt. His cold fingers caused a jolt in you, which encouraged him to guide his hand up.
Everything was moving too fast: the wet, hot noises of smacking lips, the groaning and moaning. It made your mind all fuzzy. You were out of it, but not too out of it to get some of your senses and caught his hand, stopping it from moving any higher.
Your contact with his hand broke his daze as he finally broke the kiss, plumped lips hovering over yours as he stared down at you. He removed his hand, placing it on the pillow beside your head as his other snaked around your neck, thumb resting on your chin.
He moved your head to the left, then to the right.
"Can I go back?" He whispered.
"Mhm.."
.
.
The blurred night was heavy, making out ended as your eyes opened thanks to the unwelcoming glare of the sun from your window.
With haste this time, you rose from your pillow and looked around, but found no one.
It's been a week since that night. You thought about it a lot, but at least now you know the reason why he's staring at you a lot. But what confused you is that you didn't get bugged about tutoring him. You mentioned to both him and Kaldur that you got everything you needed for him, even asked if he could give you dates he's free so you can start planning, but got nothing in response.
It didn't bug you at all. Totally didn't. What, were your kisses not good enough?
Though speak of the devil, you got a text from him, asking to meet him somewhere where he knew no one would be near. You hated how that text made you feel a bit happy, get that feeling in your tummy.
You told yourself that it was gas and started stepping.
Though on the way, you just remembered why you hated him, his friends, and everyone who followed them.
Fortunately, you found out why he wasn't talking to you; he had his personal things to do. Modeling.
But the girls who talk about it pissed you off.
"You wouldn't believe me when I say this.."
"What?"
"Literally, before one of his shoots, he and I were locked away in his changing rooms and-"
Oh brother, didn't know that was a flex. Your eyes scanned them as you walked, ears picking up on multiple conversations all related to Dick and his shoots.
You forgot that his name matches him. All that kissing, making out had you on cloud 9. That's his effect he has on girls. You got caught up in it.
Finally, you found him, and he saw your not-so-happy face.
"What is it?" You muttered, already wanting to walk away
"What's your problem?" He joked, hoping you would catch on, but oh boy..
"Excuse? Can you hurry? I don't want your fans finding me and then throwing their Dick stories in my face." You explained, hinting at the "Dick".
"Whoa, okay.. Literally was going to invite you to this party I was going to tonight-"
"Invite ME? For what? For others, seeing me there? Not a chance." You shot him down, about to leave, until he threw more talks.
"Okay, sorry for trying to be nice. Forgot how self-centered you are."
That stopped you, with speed, you looked back at him, eyebrows furrowed and a frown planted.
"What. Me? Self-centered? I bet you like the stories those girls throw around about you. 'Ooh! Dick and I did this!' 'You wouldn't believe what Dickie and I did in the locker rooms together alone!' Don't call me self-centered."
A groan left his lips; he didn't like the words you threw at him. With a glare as he looked down at you, his words came pouring out as well.
"I don't control what they talk about. If they think it's a flex, then they do. I don't really give two shits. You care about it more, though. You think everyone is always looking at what you're doing, quick to write it up on TTT. Let me put it straight, no one knew your friend before she started making herself known. You're not known. No one knows you. If you walk past me, stare at me, all they will see is me. Not you."
Your lips parted a bit; he was correct, but you didn't want to hear it from him in such a tone.
"All the girls who make out with me at parties, the only fame they get on TTT is 'Dick out making out at parties again'. Not once were they mentioned. So, to be real with you. No one knows you. Calm down."
"Calm down? Oh shut it about this self-centered bullshit. You had the audacity to sleep in MY BED, then make out with me. When we barely knew each other, we still do, by the way. Then left without a trace in the morning. Like what you do with every other woman you've been with. Hey, at least I didn't sleep with you. I'll give myself the pat on the back for that one."
You were expecting him to bark back, by what caught you off guard was the disappointed look in his eyes. He looked genuinely hurt.
"I left because I forgot I had a shoot that day, and the following week. I made out with you because I wanted to see if you would push me away, also because I wanted to start something genuine with you. Did I rush it? Yes. But I always do. Maybe I shouldn't have done it too fast. That's why I was inviting you to go with me so we can actually spend time together."
You scoffed at his words.
"Yeah, right, start something with me. Were you dared to say that? Let's be for real, Dick, being with me will get you nothing, and you people always want something."
A chuckle left his lips as he looked away for a bit, shoving his hands in his pockets, then finally ended it.
"Yeah, you got me. I was just bored, so I made out with you that night. Left because I didn't want to deal with you in the morning."
.
.
You stared at him in shock. You wanted to know if your eyes really caught that. You didn't know why, but your eyes started watering. You asked yourself, What's happening? Was he playing with you? Or did he play you?
His eyes stared back at you as he watched every tear fall. But he didn't bother to help you; he just walked away. Leaving you alone to drown in your tears, shock, and thoughts.
That night, you didn't leave your bed. You were lost in your thoughts, confused and hurt. The more you cried, the more your eyes felt dry, and soon there were none left to fall.
So it left you alone with your thoughts, and in those thoughts, you finally realized what went down. You hated yourself for acting so stupidly in that situation; that wasn't you.
His face replayed in your mind. Why were you even wrapped up in this weird relationship? To reach this stage, you at least need to achieve friendship first, not whatever this is.
A sigh left your lips, you told yourself that to solve this, you need to think maturely, make sense of this all. But you realized that all this time, the only "smart" you had was in a book sense, your social skills were lacking, and for that, you blame yourself.
"I'm not interacting with people who's in that side of college!" Literally, it's almost everyone; you whittle down the people you interact with for your own selfish desires. In some sense, it made some. They didn't have the same views as you; you were scared of that, your views might stray away.
But one thing you fail to notice with your friend is that she may have changed, but she still has her goals. Her grades were the same, she was just more.. outgoing. You fail to notice that those in Dick's group, some of whom actually cared about their grades. So what was your problem?
Were you jealous? Confused? Scared?
You didn't understand your feelings, but that's okay. You'll figure them out even if it comes crashing down all at once. That's what you told yourself as you searched for your phone and searched up the three words you hated.
"Teen Titans Time! Tonight's Topic at the banging party happening right now at..."
As you sniffle away and your change of heart, you also changed your clothes, stared at yourself for a bit before making your way to this party.
It was your first time going to one. Have you ever dreamed of even attending one? Maybe. But you won't admit to that. You won't admit that, as you made it into the taxi, your chest was beating a bit faster than normal. You told yourself that it was nerves, and maybe it was. You didn't know what would go down tonight.
.
.
.
As soon as you made it, you were hit with an environment you weren't known to. You saw red cups everywhere, the scent hit you like a wave, and the blinding lights were too much. It got worse as you walked closer towards the door, and as soon as your hand reached to open it, you saw so much at once, and heard.
It was so crowded you wondered how they even found the joy in being cooped up in here; it was so hot and sticky. As you fully entered, your eyes scanned the area and found a few familiar faces.
You saw Wally and his girlfriend enjoying themselves, in another corner, saw who you assumed was M'gann and someone you don't know, probably her boyfriend. You also saw Conner enjoying himself with his boyfriend. Maybe this was the side of the parties you don't take into consideration. But finally, your eyes landed on the exact person you were looking for, and found him smothered up with another girl. Though he doesn't look very interested in her.
Why does he do it? Let them all over him even when he may not feel it. Normally, you won't interrupt anyone, but you felt as if you needed to right now.
And so you did, with more pep in your steps, you made it to the duo, and as soon as his eyes made out your frame, shock and confusion were written all over him. Obviously, the girl didn't like that you were approaching, but her face fell when she noticed that Dick slightly pushed her off, closing the gap between you and him, and got closer towards you.
His hand gripped yours as he pulled you into an empty bathroom, closing the door behind him. The look he gave you certainly wasn't a happy one.
"I'm sure you know what I'm about to ask you right now." He started, back against the door as he stared down at you.
A sigh left your lips as you prepared yourself, gathering your thoughts and formulating how you should let them all leave your lips.
"I'm.. sorry for how I reacted today." You started, glancing at him for a bit before your eyes landed back onto the floor. You shifted in your stance as you spoke more.
"I was confused, maybe scared. But I will admit, I shouldn't have been so unfair to you. I shouldn't have judged you. But you have to understand, I'm not used to all of this." You muttered, finally looking up at him. With that small confidence, you finally asked the question you had in the back of your head.
"When you said, 'start something with me', what did you mean by that?"
His eyes lit up when you mentioned it. He waited for you to finish before he could explain.
"Is it something you always have when any girl you meet catches your attention? Is it different because I'm different? Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Just in the moment or a building up thing? Please explain it to me, I'm just confused, why is it me?"
The look you gave him was something he hadn't seen from you. You always looked at him with such judgment; he liked it. Both look. He would admit to that.
He wan't to take the confusion away from you, and that he did.
"I've told you how selfish you were, but I didn't want to admit that I was as well. Yes, it was because you were different. I wanted to know if someone like you does the same thing I do. Do you make out with people you like, like I do? Have a side we do that you keep secret? I thought, why should I ask if I could just do it myself? But that little time we had together, it wasn't much, and it wasn't positive either."
You wanted to say something, but he beat you to it.
"I really liked it. I liked the way you looked at me; it wasn't something I got before. I liked the fact that you hated me, so maybe I could change it. That night when I kissed you, what my thought process was, could I change her mind by just making out like what happens with other girls? That was my selfishness. I was only thinking the way I think when I'm with girls who throw themselves at me. Not the way I should've. I'm sorry for rushing you; it's something I'm used to, but not you. I should've remembered what was my first thought was. That you were different."
After his confession, you both stared at each other for a bit, analyzing each other's emotions, and Dick noticed something.
"Were you crying?"
"Huh?"
You broke eye contact with him and noticed that your eyes were probably puffy; you had indeed been crying for a while. You looked away for a bit but felt his fingers under your chin, guiding him back to you. You didn't know that the feeling you would've gotten when you felt his touch again would do to you, but you felt weak in the knees, so you gripped onto him, getting closer to him as your grip loosened and your arms snaked around his frame, head leaving his hand but making it into his body.
He snaked his arm around you as he stuffed his head into your hair.
"Do you want to go back to your dorm?" He asked, voice muffled.
He heard a small mhm, but neither of them moved from their spot. It took a while, but in the end, he dropped you off and stayed. Because you asked him to. You had more to tell him. But as soon as he rested his head on your pillow, you saw how droopy he looked.
"You can sleep, we can talk tomorrow." You softly told him.
As morning made it, you shifted in your bed and felt arms around you. Slowly, you opened your eyes and saw sleepy ones staring back at you.
"Your bed is very comfy, y'know that right?"
"Well, it is mine.." You muttered back, causing a raspy laugh to leave his lips.
You felt his hands around you, caressing your hips, as he slowly pulled you closer. Suddenly, you were feeling a hint of deja vu. Your forehead came into contact with his as he closed his eyes for a bit. Your hands made it onto his face, squishing his cheeks a bit.
"I secretly found you attractive." You randomly dropped onto him.
His eyes cracked back open as he stared at you with a hint of shock. It caused a smirk to break out on your face.
"Why are you shocked? Don't you know that everyone likes you?"
"Yes, but.. You didn't look like you liked me!?"
"I didn't, but did at the same time. I can find you attractive looking, but not your actions. I hated the fact that I found you attractive. I almost folded multiple times when it was laid out in front of me, becoming your tutor, entering my room, and making out with me."
"But you did." He mumbled behind his smile. You rolled your eyes.
"I did, but you did first."
He laughed at your words.
"You wondered if I make out with people I like, I've never had someone to make out with besides you, I didn't like you that much before, but I did at the same time.. I don't know.. We're all the same; we just act differently. Of course, I've imagined myself in a life like yours, but I don't think I'll fit right in. Besides, I'm happy here, kinda.."
"You'll be even happier if you just open up to everyone and not judge them for what they do."
"Yeah.. maybe."
.
.
.
"So now that you like me, would you make out with me?" He joked, but you thought about it.
You've never actually taken the lead in any of these sorts, will he crack under the pressure?
With your hands already on his face, you inched a bit closer to him and bit his bottom lip, slowly pulling it back. Of course, it caught him off guard. The look he gave you was something you won't forget; it caused a smile to break out on your face.
His hand moved from your hips and made it onto your lips, pushing at the blumps. Slowly, his finger moved to your cheek as he pulled you in again. This time, it was slow, like how it all should've been. You both shouldn't have rushed into whatever this is, but as your lips found comfort in each other's, as you both gave access to each other, and as your limbs snaked and intertwined, there was no care or thoughts of what was the wrong or right way.
You both broke for air, and at that moment, his phone rang. His body moved as his eyes looked away from yours to glance at it, and he saw that Wally was calling. A sigh left his lips as he removed a hand from your body to pick up the phone, putting it on speaker as he placed it back on the stand behind him.
"Where are you?! You didn't even tell me anything when you randomly left last night, had no clue where you even went. ARE YOU IN SOMEONE'S BED AGAIN!?"
He let his friend continue ranting as he shifted and looked back at you. He saw how much effort you were putting in to stay quiet and found it amusing. His hand made it back into you, but dragged it down to your thighs, causing a surprised gasp to leave you and soon a yelp as he squeezed the flesh.
The phone call went silent for a bit until a sigh was heard from it.
"While on the phone, man? Have some shame. I feel bad for that lady, say sorry before you disappear out of her bed and life." Wally said as he ended the call.
A laugh bubbled up from Dick as you glared at him, cheeks hurting from the smile that cracked when you heard his best friend's words.
Though his phone rang again, causing an annoyed sound to leave his lips. It was Wally again. With confusion, he answered the phone, but go no say in anything as Wally immediately started talking.
"Check TTT, scandal maker.." And with that, the call ended again.
This time, it caught your attention. You searched for your phone, rose from the bed, and checked it for yourself. Dick followed behind, peering over your shoulder as you both read the text:
"WELCOME BACK TO TEEN TITANS TIME! TODAY'S HOT TOPIC IS ABOUT THE POPULAR BOY, RICHARD 'DICK' GRAYSON!"
You glanced at him for a bit, then continued reading.
"GOT CAUGHT SNEAKING WITH THIS MYSTERY GIRL TWICE, MAYBE A SECRET RELATIONSHIP? HOPPING RICHARD FINALLY STOPPED?"
"Hopping? The fuck does that mean?" He asked out loud, a laugh escaping you.
You both stared at the blurred pictures of you both when you were arguing, then a blurred picture of him leaving the party with you in front, his arms wrapped around your frame as he guided you out.
"Lowkey, I don't want you up there," he muttered.
"Same, honestly."
You both shared a look, and a silly idea made it into his head.
It has been a few days since that morning, and things have been going well ever since. Your campus life has been the same, maybe a few changes here and there, but not ones that everyone can see. Though, for Dick, he attracted more.
Every time you walked past him, you both locked eye contact, but you'll shift your attention to the women around him, then back onto him as you send him a cheeky smirk, making fun of the silly situations he's in.
They all wished to turn his head, choose them instead of this mysterious girl they saw. It gotten so bad that during his basketball practices, they all wait by the bleachers, cheer for him, call out his name. It's distracting, and everyone on the team hates it.
"Tell your birds to leave. They're annoying." Roy complained as he gathered his things. He watched as Dick was already ready to leave, but didn't really tell anyone.
Roy thought it was because he wanted to hide from the girls waiting for him, hiding his items in a spot that was not visible to everyone in the hall. To make it even better, he could sneak out from behind the bleachers this way.
Dick shrugged his shoulders as he left Roy and made it out, with no one knowing where he was going.
It was to hide from the girls yes, but also because he was making his way to the library, wearing a hoodie and hood over his head as he got closer, wearing fake glasses so he won't easily be spotted as he opened the library door, and made it to a tucked away area you kept to yourself when you wanted some time to yourself.
His smile widened when he saw you already there, waiting with books out on the table. He placed his bag next to them, circled around the table, and wrapped his arms around you, planting a kiss on your cheek, making a loud smacking noise.
"Can you not be so loud? Your kisses can be a bit on the quiet side.." You muttered, returning the affection.
"Now sit, you came here to learn."
"But also for you.." He said softly, shifting you off the seat, took it, and took you onto his lap.
You rolled your eyes as you wrapped one hand around his neck, then grabbed a book with the other. His arms rested on your hips as his chin found home on your shoulder.
You knew that with how he was playing with the hem of your shirt, rubbing his cheek in the crook of your neck, less studying would take place. But, unfortunately for him, you don't play around with grades.
Less studying may take place, but not much making out either. Scolding him? Maybe.

"No.. way, is she serious?"
Snerking was heard from every direction, and in the center, a glow emanated from a phone screen. Your friends all eyed each other, asking, 'When was this?' When was all of this happening?
"The fact that she didn't even say like.. ANYTHING to us is insane.." one backed up.
The others nodded in agreement, muttering stuff like "fake" and "what a bitch." but one was narrowing her eyes at the picture, as if she was trying to figure out who in the hell that male is?
"UGH, my brain is about to explode.." she muttered.
One out of the group, your ohh so favorite one! grabbed the phone and offered a small smile.
"Guys, why worry now? I'm sure miss little goody shoes will tell us, she is our friend after all!"
"Goody shoes?" one asked in confusion.
Another, who was seated beside her, just shrugged her shoulders.
"Let's just go with it."
The next day at uni was a talk storm. You knew it would be.
As soon as you set foot into the building, you hear whispers from every direction. I mean, you were used to it, but knowing the reason why, it irked you a teeny bit!
You thought you could've lived with this, these stares, the talks, but you forgot the people you hang out with are VERY annoying.
Before you could even settle down in your seat, you saw the flock of bitches marching over, phones in hands, ready to show the evidence.
A sigh left your lips. Sometimes, you wish you were friendless..
You watched as your oh-so-favorite friend in the bunch slammed her hands on the table, offering you a small smile as she motioned the girls behind her to show their phone screens.
"Want to explain?" She asked, offering you her sickening sweet smile.
In response, all you gave her was a small shrug of the shoulders, mirroring that same smile.
"What is there to explain? I mean, you have eyes, don't you?"
She did not like that response, literally scuffing in your face as she snatched the phone out of the girl's hand.
You see, this girl loved the feeling of having you in the grasp of her hands. She loved the feeling of having the advantage.
So as she stared down at you, admiring your slightly agitated look, masking the concern you have, her smirk only grew as she read you like a book.
"Aw, you're hiding him? Or is there really no him? Gasp! Don't tell me.. It's one of the guys you're sleeping with!?" She joked, and in response, they all laughed. Oh, they are so original, aren't they?
The thing is, that feeling of shame you had before, hooking up with Jason just for a dare, then falling for the same damn dare. You felt disgusted. At yourself? No! At the thought of dating him. But the more you spend time with him. You realized that he's not any different from you. Literally, he's the same.
You had this superior ideal in your head. That you were better than the rest, and those at the bottom will taint you.
But when you were with Jason, you got a taste of not a fake, plastic life created by the opinions of those around you and of how you should be. You got a taste of real life, that fresh feeling of being free and not held back by values. It was like you opened your eyes for the first time.
You loved it. You wanted all of it, to bathe in it, to live in it. But you remembered that you don't belong there. Because you are far too deep into this disgusting fake life, held back by the same values you wanted to be freed from.
So that disgust you had, it was now targeted at yourself. You were now disgusted by the way you lived and by the way you viewed these free-living people, enjoying their lives.
You were disgusted at the fact that the one thing you wanted to do, to love Jason in the open, that fear in the back of your mind tells you that the life you live in may judge Jason, target him, and do more. You don't want him to be judged, to be a target for anything.
That's why you didn't stand up for yourself, and watched how these girls called your friends, made fun and stomped all over you.
Oh nooo.. where is that "boss bitch" mentality now? Boo hoo!
Those stupid fucking bitches..
No way THEM have you crying in a bathroom stall. I mean, it wasn't even by choice! You know, stupid brain and overthinking everything, all your choices up to now, and if you should really care about it all.
Is it ironic to say you want Jason now? The thought made you cry more. Like, silly girl, you told him to not interact with you on campus..
You pulled out your phone, switching to the camera to see how badly you messed up your makeup. A loud ugh left your lips as you rose from the toilet seat and walked out, making your way towards the sinks and stared at yourself in the mirror.
You dug into your bag, looking for your makeup, but were startled by the sound of the bathroom door being swung open. Your eyes locked in with a pair of green ones, who were visibly as shocked as you were.
"Oh, you are indeed here!" She exclaimed, making her way towards you, confusing you more.
"I am.. You are here for..?" You asked, looking in the other direction, trying to mask your ruined makeup as if she didn't see it already.
The green eyes shifted for a bit, wondering if she should do it or not. But with a final determined thought, Kory fixed her curls before she began to explain herself.
"Perhaps you are already aware, in truth, most people are.. that Dick and I are dating! He has spoken to me a little about you, and also about Jason-"
Your head snapped at the mention of his name in relation to you.
"Dick did WHAT?" You asked, making your way closer to her.
Kory, obviously, noticed and scrambled to explain more.
"I do not know if I feel great fondness for you, but I truly support whatever you have with Jason! And I am very sorry that Dick shared things he should not have. But because of that, I could not help but notice the distance between you and your friends, and I wonder, why remain with them if they dislike Jason, yet you do not?"
A sigh left your lips. You turned to face her, head hung low in shame.
"I'm sorry for snapping at you.." You muttered.
You really do need to work on that.
Your eyes found hers, and finally, you spoke the truth.
"Where else am I supposed to go?"
Kory wasn't expecting such an empty answer; she thought it was very clear where you should go.
"Jason?" She asked, tilting her head in confusion.
A sigh left your lips.
"I wish.."
It was very soft, but she heard it. She picked up on your now sluggish behavior, depressing sounds leaving your lips, and watched how you tried to wipe the newly forming tears, ruining your face and makeup.
She picked up on the soft question you asked her.
"How does it feel to date such a popular person?"
A small gasp left her lips, it made you stare at her, watching how her whole face shifted in excitement to talk about her wonderful boyfriend!
"Dating Dick is the most wonderful thing! He is so very kind and always helpful; he has many friends who are also delightful! He cares for them greatly and ensures they are all well and happy!"
You saw how she blushed at just the thought of him. Bright smile and plump cheeks. You felt a bit jealous at the thought of how someone could cause such a reaction just from talking about them.
But Kory saw your downcast expression, she knew everything she listed was far from you, which didn't help your case. But she finally confessed something.
"You are so confident in all that you do.. Why, then, does it matter what others think of you, or of the person with whom you are dating?"
You didn't respond; you didn't know how to.
How are you supposed to explain the whole fake life you live to someone so carefree?
Kory checked her phone and noticed how much time had passed by. So with one final say, she left with a message:
"If you ever require someone with whom to speak, know that I am always here to be found."
Leaving you alone with your thoughts, and clearly more things to think about now.
When you left, you didn't mention anything to anyone. You hide the sorrows and walk back, shame weighing you down, as you make your way back to those friends, pretending everything is fine.
But it wasn't, and they noticed.
"Girl, why do you look so lost?"
"Probably thinking about mystery boy.."
Of course, they joked.
Finally, it was all over, and you made it back into your dorm. You didn't call Jason or your friends like you normally would.
You just got into your PJs and stared at your surroundings. You stared at the pictures on your walls, filled with you and your friends. Memories came flooding back; they were mean, fake, and genuinely the worst people to hang out with. But as you stared at the pictures, you couldn't help but think about how much fun you actually had.
Your mind shifted to when Jason was in here, where that very same picture was taken. Your cheeks grew warm at the thought of him in your life more. You want to experience that jolly feeling Kory had.
It was obvious that the life you wanted, you weren't welcome in.
.
.
The whole night, you had one thought in mind. It didn't leave you when you picked out your outfit, when you did your hair, or when you did your makeup. It certainly didn't go as soon as you stepped into the building you currently despise.
That aura that always follows you, the one that either attracts or repels, the one that always made you feel good about yourself, suddenly it was gone! But you were too caught up in your own thoughts to realize that the random stares you got weren't the norm.
With every step you took, the click of your heels followed right behind. For once, you were determined! You wanted to do something you never thought of doing before.
Standing up for yourself! Doing the right thing! It's gonna be easy, right?!
Yeah right... But the negative thoughts did not get to you this time! You headed straight to your class, finding it empty as it wasn't even near time for it to begin, but you found your seat and pulled out a book and pen.
But as the pen almost touched the paper, you stopped in your tracks.
"Am I really going to do this..?" You muttered to yourself, staring at a certain seat in front of you. It was empty as of right now, but you know who will be there.
And with that thought in mind, you sighed and let the pen hit the paper, writing what you wanted to. It sounded desperate, but at this point, you did not care.
You got up from your seat and made it towards the seat, placing it in the small area under the table, and made it back into yours, resting your head on the table as a shaken breath left your lips.
"I feel so stupid.." You muttered, closing your eyes as you took a deep breath. But no negative thoughts! You swallowed your pride and got back into the game, back with your small, stupid plan.
You grabbed your bag and left the classroom, making your way into another room, one you know that no one enters.
As you made it in, you finally thought about what you were doing, and it all came flooding back, hitting you like a truck. Like NO WAY anyone is gonna like this..
Your face held a disgusted look.
"Why am I thinking about what THEY think about me..?" You muttered, walking around the room.
"Have I lost it?" You laughed out.
Yes, you probably have.
.
.
.
"Huh?" The sudden burst of confusion caught the attention of the group around her.
"You okay?" Dick asked, planting his attention on his girlfriend.
Kory nodded, but the paper in her hand, she had no clue what it was or why it was here.
"You have a secret admirer?" Garfield joked, earning a glare from the man beside her.
"My bad.." he muttered, clearing his throat. Dick's eyes shifted off Garfield and back on Kory, noticing that her face lit up in realization.
"I totally forgot! I must take my leave, please, do not follow, yes?"
"What?" Dick let out, but got a rushed Kory in response as she grabbed her bag and left them.
"Did she..?" he muttered.
"Ha." Gar let out, glaring back at Dick.
The bells rang instantly in Kory's mind as she read the note. She was very happy that you came to her for help!
In the same room you were hanging out in, she made small knocks on the door before slowly opening the door, locking eye contact with you, who was seated on the floor.
"Are you okay?" She asked, slowly closing the door behind her as she made her way towards you.
She placed her bag next to yours and sat right next to you.
"I am.. Er.. Can you help me.. um be nice?" You muttered, avoiding eye contact.
The question made a laugh escape Kory's lips, causing embarrassment to quickly spread all over your face.
"Okay, I phrased it wrong.. How can I.."
"Start new?" Kory finished for you. You nodded at her words.
A sigh left her lips, but her smile brightened. Kory shifted to face you and grabbed your hands, confusing you a bit, but you didn't ask.
"First, you mustn't hide from the ones you love." She started.
Your eyebrows rose in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"You must speak to Jason in public, here."
You blinked at her words. Like you knew obviously.. But the thought made you roll your eyes, not at her, but at yourself. Unfortunately, Kory caught it.
"Did I say something wrong?" She asked, her grip tightening a bit on your hands.
A sigh left your lips, but you shook your head, telling her that nothing was wrong.
"Continue, I just have to have a talk with myself after this."
"It won't be easy!"
"Yeah.. I know.." You muttered. Your eyes wandered, but Kory moved her head, making you look at her.
She wanted to flash you with her smile, telling you that,
"It's okay, because I will be here!"
Her kindness is something you aren't used to; it's giving you this weird feeling, not the one Jason gives you. Something different. You wanted more. So you smiled back at her and listened to what else she had to say.
"Don't change yourself," Kory demanded, her smile dropping.
"I thought this was the whole point..?"
Your words made her shake her head.
"Change how you think about your own self, you are already of much kindness.. If you were mean and cruel, you would not feel the feelings you have for Jason, nor would you have written that note to me."
"Change.. how I think about myself.."
Kory nodded.
"Jason loves you, that means you are very likable. Your friends make you mean."
You stared at her, waiting for her to finish.
"You're also very bold and confident. That's really amazing. You just need to use it in the right way."
Her words lingered in your mind, and finally, you smiled and to her surprise, wrapped your arms around her neck.
"Thank you."
"You are most welcome."
As a popular girl like yourself, of course, you are always texting away on that phone of yours! Mostly about the latest gossip, that boy who was staring at your group for too long, you know, the norm.
But for the past few days, your norm wasn't present. Instead of your normal group, you were texting.. Kory? And you weren't even gossiping.. You were talking about her pet.. and weird food combinations.. But the point is, you actually enjoyed those past few days, like there was a different kind of joy radiating off you compared to the past conversations you've had over the phone.
You experienced that weird feeling with Jason, but this one was a different weird, and you wanted more of it.
So as the week passed, your thoughts grew, and as they grew, so did everyone's curiosity about "queen bee y/n!", where did she go? Why is she not with her friends? Gasp! Did they break up??!!
Honestly, you loved the attention, the anticipation. The image of their jaws dropping makes you jitter all over your seat as you apply your makeup for the day. As you placed the lip gloss down, you stared at yourself for a bit, fixing your hair a bit, puckering your lips.
"Hm.. should I care about what they have to say today..? Absolutely not! Block out the negative.. Ugh, but the thought of them just staring."
You giggled slightly at the end of your thoughts.
You WANT them to stare.
And with a small shrug, you left your vanity table, grabbed your bag, and left the dorm, making your way down to the eye of the storm called university!
.
.
Click clack, click clack! Whisper whisper..
Glances from each side followed you as with each confident step you took, and that bright smile on your face caught the attention of everything around you.
Definitely, you caught the attention of that group, your favorite girls! I bet they have something nice to say, hm?
"Who does she think she is? Ghosts us and now she's walking the runway?"
Oh, eh, nice enough! You are strutting it. But it seems your confident aura irked them off the most.
That same confidence is what guided you right to Kory! But you stopped in your tracks as you saw who she was with.
You completely forgot that, yes, you may have friended Kory, but basically, everyone else here hates you.
"Oh, I want attention so bad, don't I!" You mocked yourself, sighing as you walked past them, without them noticing.
..."What if I say no?"
You stopped in your tracks, that oh so familiar voice, the one that makes you weak in your knees. You turned your head in the direction of the sound and spotted Jason and his brother, Dick.
Your smile widened as it was literally a green go for you to openly love your boyfriend with no carefree! With a small pep in your step, you made it towards the men, Dick noticing you first, but kept his lips sealed as he watched how your hand poked Jason's back, catching him off guard.
He turned in your direction, confusion written all over.
His arms wrapped around your body, but his words did not match his actions.
"Why are you here?" He asked, shocking Dick.
"How can you ask her that?" He muttered, staring at the couple in front of him.
Your eyes connected with his as you tilted your head to the side.
"I didn't feel like hanging out with them." Of course, he knew who "them" was.
His fingers played with the hem of your shirt as he stood there in thought.
"And what will you do if someone right now catches you with me?"
"Uhh.. dunno.."
Now he knew you were up to something.
"Right.." he muttered, removing his arms from your frame, but you lingered, resting your cheek on his chest as you just observed the brothers as they continued their conversation.
They were talking about dragging Jason to some lunch table, and then Dick made some joke that caught your attention.
"If Y/N's there, will you come?"
"As if.." Jason muttered.
But the look you gave Dick, he felt as if you took the joke with a different thought in mind.
Besides, you really want to talk to Kory. Don't you?
You removed yourself from Jason, him giving you a silent look of concern, but also wondering where you will go now.
"I'm gonna go to class, kay? See ya later guys!"
"See ya!"
"See ya?"
Your clicky clacks got softer as you left the men with their new thoughts of you.
.
.
.
"What got her all jolly?"
Kory's head turned in the direction Garfield was motioning at. The sight of you skipping away into a classroom made her giggle a bit.
Oh, how she knew more giggles would be leaving her mouth soon!
Lunch time finally rolled around, and obviously, the correct table to sit by is with your bitchy friends, right?! Well.. that's what everyone expects, but today you seem to be full of surprises, like go pinata!
You stared at the old table you normally sat at and caught the girls glaring at you, who hadn't even touched their meal yet. Yikes..
Your eye caught the way she got off the chair and made her way towards you, but you didn't want her to walk all over you again. Not this time.
You knew everyone was staring; you knew the right option was there. He was being dragged to the same table you had your eyes on the moment you walked in.
A smile formed on your face as your legs moved on their own, slowly speeding up, that same skip you had all day, the excitement was bubbling up!
Everyone's going to see! They're gonna see you and their jaws are going to drop!
Your hands flew up in the air as they wrapped around a muscular frame. You felt him jump a bit in surprise as he turned to see who in their right mind decided to lock him in a hold, but he, too, dropped his jaw when his eyes landed on little ol' you!
Literally, you heard the gasps everywhere. I mean, you always had that effect on people, so there's nothing new to be shocked about.
Your arms went from his frame to his neck, moving in to give a small peck on his cheek. Err, normally he'll accept it, but this time he pulled away, out of surprise, of course..
"WHAT are you doing?" He asked, yet out of habit, his own arms betrayed him as they rested on your hip.
That one smirk you gave him, the one he knew you were up to no good right now, was present before you opened your mouth to speak, a bit louder than you normally do.
"Can I not show my BOYFRIEND some love?"
He cringed internally, hearing the emphasis on the word. He looked around and took in everyone's reaction around him, then back at you.
"Seriously.. What are you doing?" he whispered.
You giggled at his confusion and decided to pipe down, for his sake. You pulled him down a bit, bringing his ears closer to your lips.
"I got bored with everything that was me honestly.. and I really just wanna be with you." You muttered, looking away at the last part.
His chest felt a bit warm hearing that, but still, he wasn't really sure about this, mainly about you. The sudden change? He wondered:
"Are you entirely sure about this? What will everyone think-"
"Fuck them? I'm not dating them. They don't know me. And they certainly aren't me, even if they tried to be me sooo badly.." You started, loud enough for everyone to hear.
Kory was right about something: you had your confidence, so use it correctly. You think you were, I mean, they all need a reality check. THEY needed it, y'know, the girls!
You looked around the room as whispers were heard all around, but your attention was hooked onto the fuming girl who was deemed to be your bestest friend ever.
The tension around was so thick and heavy, it felt uncomfortable all around, but you seemed to forget who was Dick's best friend.
"Finally nice to meet you!"
Your attention was snapped as you turned to face a certain red-haired male.
"Oh hi!" You exclaimed, removing yourself from Jason and fully facing Wally.
"You gonna eat with us? Dick told me you were dating Jason, but I didn't think it was actually real!" He joked, all smiley and bright.
You didn't return the feeling as your eyes shifted on the subject of the conversation, and he then decided his girlfriend was the most interesting thing right now.
Oh, his girlfriend, Kory! You looked at her and found a cheery expression, all cheeks bright as she stared back at you. That fuzzy feeling came back as you accidentally left Wally hanging to sit next to her.
Thankfully, the male didn't take it to heart as he and Jason joined everyone at the table. It wasn't surprising for you anymore as you felt the familiar embrace of your new friend as her giggles left her once more. She pulled back, hands still on your shoulder as she expressed everything bubbling inside her.
"That was so good! I am so proud of you, Y/N!" She finally confessed.
Though the happy atmosphere only radiated around her and not the table.
"What is happening.." A monotone voice muttered. You both turned in the direction and saw everyone staring. You finally noticed who was at the table, you knew everyone, and of course, they did, but did they like you..?
Your eyes landed on Artemis, Rachel, Garfield, Victor, and, well, Dick Jason and Wally. Full table huh..
"Friends.. I will explain!"
Before Kory could start, you stole a look behind you, at everyone, and found your favorite, eyebrows furrowed, and nostrils flared. Could you honestly catch a break? That's what you wanted to say, but the cheeky smile on your face said something different.
You excused yourself from the table and made your way towards her; you didn't want to cause any harm to the current table you were at.
She decided that being up in your face made her scarier, but all it did was annoy the life out of you.
"What do you think you're doing?" She asked.
"Um.." You started, pretending to think.
"Lowkey.. not really giving two shits anymore! I'm fed up, honestly. Pretending with you is kinda boring.."
Her eyebrows rose in confusion as her arms folded across her chest.
"Really? Cause of all the backstabbing and bitch talking you did, I couldn't really tell." She shrugged, checking out her nails.
"Uh, no, hun. YOU did the backstabbing, I did the bitch talking, but at least I can take accountability for it and change myself. You can stay bitter and bitchy for the rest of your life, though!" You ended, shrugging your shoulders, and made it back to the table.
She did NOT like that. And you knew it. The look on your face was visible.
Before you could sit, you heard clapping from the table. Your eyes drifted to Wally as he stared back at you with an innocent smile.
"Stop that."
"Sorry."
A sigh left your lips as you returned to the table. Everyone didn't judge you anymore, but they weren't really welcoming yet. But there was one thing you wanted to do first.
"This will be bitchy of me, but it's better if you saw it from me first, right?"
The day was about to end, and you were genuinely satisfied with everything you've done today. At this moment, you would be in your dorm, on your phone or watching a show, but right then, you were on your boyfriend's lap in his dorm.
It wasn't very decorative like yours, but it suited him, and you loved it.
The room was quiet; only the sound of the AC humming in the background filled your ears. You shifted, turning to look up at the male who was currently scrolling on his phone.
"Did you think I did the right thing at the table?" You muttered.
Jason plopped his phone down on the bed and pulled you down with him onto his pillow.
"I'm still trying to wrap my head around all this." He answered back honestly.
"Do you not like it?"
The tremble in your voice made him hate the way he let words just fly out of his lips.
"No, in all honesty, I like it. I like the thought of you not hiding me."
His words hit you. Why was he even okay with you hiding him? Best girlfriend award goes to..?? Not you!
A sigh left your lips.
"I'm sorry for all the sneaking around. Don't say it's okay because it wasn't."
"Okay, it wasn't."
You shot a glare at him. He didn't need to actually agree with you....
.
.
.
Something in today's air felt as if you had to deal with more bitches again. Your neck hurt when you woke up; that was your first sign.
The second one was the look you got from your old group all day; you knew lunch was going to be an eventful time, as every lunch time always is.
On the bright side, you gain new friends; Kory's group didn't despise you anymore! They asked a lot of questions, though.. like what did you gain from being a bitch and yada yada.
Currently, you are back at the table with everyone, actually enjoying your food and conversations. But that feeling you had, oh, everything is going to be crashing down in like 10 seconds.
Sadly, Artemis, who sat directly in front of you, was too late to warn you of the incoming waterfall of printed paper being dumped on you and thrown around the table.
"Hey everyone! Just wanted to spread some joy around, y'know?"
You stared at the papers that rested on your lap. A chuckle left your lips as you read the messages.
"She got my favorite." Garfield joked out, showing it to Victor.
Confusion obviously was on her face as she noticed that no one was affected, so you took it upon yourself to get up from the seat and finally speak up.
"Sorry, I beat you to it. But it's okay, next time you want to find messages of me bitch talking others, do Dick's own."
It wasn't going her way, and she did not like it.
"Who in their right mind shows people texts of them bitch talking to them?" She asked, judging you.
Everyone was now watching, laughing at her words. The papers quickly spread across the room, the rest of the girls making their way towards the table, joining the muttering session.
You didn't mind them muttering about you. But the moment they open their mouth about the people who actually have a heart and not a hole in their chest, it pissed you off the most.
See, you may be trying to change, but that temper of yours doesn't seem to be leaving you soon. Besides, she started it, didn't she? You don't dump stuff on others, that's bad manners..
Right now, you don't seem to have them either, as with quick thinking and movements, you grabbed your food and threw it at her, shocking not only your table but everyone else.
Giggles were now heard as everyone found the show amusing. Oh, now she's fuming..
"THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM?" She yelled, staring at the ketchup stain on her shirt.
"MY PROBLEM? Aw, says the bitch who can't leave me alone. Obsessed much? You want to be me SOO badly? What? Are you upset that no one cares about you anymore that I'm gone, cause the only fame you got was being Y/N's friend."
Her jaw dropped, about to complain again, but you weren't finished, you had A LOT to say.
"Like, let's be for real right now. Get the fuck OFF your high horse for a second. NO ONE liked you, liked me, liked any of us, yet who's bettering themselves to actually be a likable person? Certainly not you. You're so bitter you have to ruin my chances?"
She was shaking in rage; she didn't like the honesty. She didn't want to accept it. But one thing you both have in common is that ticking temper, and as her hand rose up to your face, so did the deafening sound of a slap being echoed around the room.
It was now quiet, the sting lingering on your cheek as the only sound you heard was the heavy breathing and sniffling.
Crying? Is she for real? So upset yet SHE SLAPPED YOU? You WEREN'T going to let that slide, who does she think she is? You were about to jump at her, letting it all loose right there and then, but were held back by some familiar string arms.
"Jason. Let go-"
"Aw, look at the hoe being held back!" She exclaimed, but was then held back by Wally as he noticed she was about to run up to you.
"No wonder she left y'all, good gosh.." Wally muttered, causing the table to laugh.
You both whipped your head in the direction of the sound, but only she was affected.
The sigh of THE Dick Grayson laughing AT her? It broke something in her; now she was screaming, trying to rip herself out of Wally's grip
"Psycho bitch.." You muttered, yet you found it amusing.
"You think you deserve to throw such a hissy fit, you're the same one who runs behind my back, throws the shade, then comes back and pretends nothing was wrong, yet here YOU ARE crying and acting a fool, when it should be me."
Jason felt you slowly shifting in his grip. He knew how much you wanted to be let loose, but he didn't want you to physically fight anyone.
"Honestly, if I wasn't trying to better myself, I would've leaked everything from the group chat, to show everyone how fake you are.."
"Don't lie, you're too much of a pussy to do that anyway." She giggled out.
Oh she's really testing you right now.. But what you weren't expecting was the devil on your shoulder to whisper.
"What's stopping you?" Jason whispered.
"Oh?"
.
.
.
Normally, you'll love all the attention for yourself, like, why is it all on those fake bitches? See, now, you caused all this!
With a smile on your face, you saw your friends in the distance and jogged up to them. Your ears caught wind of all the whispering, everyone on their phone reading that one tweet of yours.
Jason saw you making your way over and wrapped his arm around your hips.
You saw that they were also looking at your tweet.
"Is it entertaining enough?" You asked.
Kory looked up from her phone and muttered a small,
"You were this mean.."
"I think it's cool." Garfield joked, but quickly shushed when Rachel shot him a glare.
You looked around and saw the center of attention speed walking into the building. She's brave enough to show up at least..
