GEASS
āwhen on the battlefield, you can never just wound, you must always kill.ā
compliments for her prolific performance on the battlefields are embraced by bada with only a half-hearted smile. most of those around her do not know better that she has to strike deathly kills in order not to be the one with the short end of the stick. her geass has made bada choose her battles with utmost wisdom, only when necessary does she engage in serious combat, since the outcome has to be final.Ā
the fine distinction of her geass only affecting her on the battlefield is crucial. yukana can sense when a fight is performed only in training and when bada has to fight for her life. although the geass is not effective in the former situation, she still prefers to train in solitude as a mere precautionary habit.
for the longest time, her geass meant little to bada. it fueled her desire for excellent performance and refined her senses for when a battle is truly decisive. now that the rift of two kingdoms has stirred up the realm, a silent terror crawls up her spine every now and then when thinking of whom she might encounter on the other side of the battlefield.
DESIRE
bada has spent the majority of her life in a senseless rebellion, perhaps living selfishly even. while she harmed no one in the process, she made sure that she did not have to follow into the footsteps of her parents and live life to her own heartās desire instead. for the first time in life, she had a clear direction, a shining beacon to follow. the fall of king artur and victory cadan is badaās only priority right now. the idle regime of the narrow-minded king had brought lifelong ravage across the people of brittania and she is convinced, that cadanās mission is righteous.
i want to explore the clash between her loyalty and her geass, develop plots in which she has to figure out which of the two she values more. i want her to question her passionate allegiance and how far she will go to prove her worth and obedience for the side she has chosen to support.
the world is made of juxtapositions, that is a fact bada had discovered early in life. it is no surprise that she has come to like these odd occurrences provided by the universe, the yin and yangs of the world, given that she, too, is part of one. a half of a whole, a part of an entity as ari yoon carried them through mosmaitās relentlessly wet winter for nine months. a boy and a girl, bound not only through blood but an unspoken bond, a silent union that would last until their last heartbeats, that she is sure of even to this day.
the yin and yangs of the world follow bada on every step of the way. she loves the elevation of the island, the fact that she can see their house from so high up, right by the deep, endlessly plummeting ocean. she loves the whipping cold winds the sea washing up on the shore, so violent she can barely breathe, while the sun shines mercilessly down on her and unnoticeably burns her neck. she sees it in the family business, the raw marble, fine-grained and semitranslucent, century old rocks awaking from their slumber only for her fatherās hands to transform them into something new, something polished and desired by many.
the contrasts keep on emerging. as much as ari and xx had struggled with conception, as delighted they were when the ancients blessed them with not one but two children. with the arrival of bada and bitgaram, the family business was saved, home and hosed. two successors destined to carve the exquisite rock as generations have before them. the first worries creep up in the back of their minds when bada starts playing with kitchen knives and bitgaram nabs herbs from their motherās spice rack to mix childish potions. even when the kitchen door remains locked, bada resorts to branches as her weapon while her brother picks wild dandelions and wheat. with each time their father forces them into the marble workshop, their interest grows thinner, their minds led further away from the possibility of ever laying a hand on the delicate stone.
she denies a lone tear from rolling down her cheek when she steps into the abandoned workshop, all that is left of the yoon legacy. all the times she had thought of last nightās liaison instead of listening to yet another lecture about marble or how to solve her best friendās boy troubles caught up to her when she brushed her fingertips over the dusty work bench, leaving traces of something that would never be.
another tear gets brushed away when she packs a bag with travel essentials, the pilgrimage to the most northern point of mosmait, which is attributed to be essentially fruitful in attempts to contact yukana, is short but tough. oddly enough, obstacles only fuel badaās urge to do well, to aim for accomplishments. perhaps a hint of scorching guilt sits idle in the back of her throat, the one that reproaches her for her lack of interest in marble. she is unable to succumb to that dream that is not hers, but all the more eager to exceed what she is aspiring to be. the thought of the hill that overlooks their house and the great sea emerges every now and then and she likes to believe that her parents look over her with the same delight she did when she stood on that spot.
perhaps it had been foolish to hope for a light geass, one that prohibits you from drinking cow milk or to not cuss. bada had settled for a middle ground, somewhere between the cow milk scenario and having to sacrifice her firstborn. often times she feels like she received two curses, her own and her brotherās which she has to bear like a cross she never asked for. his demeanor swapped for a stone cold mask while she now has to choose her battles with more wisdom than ever before. only with a clenched jaw does she accept the compliments for her prolific kill count, it is not a number she carries with on purpose.
an alliance with brittania was by chance, by birth, not by some solemnly sworn oath. although the yoonās marble business flourished through trade with the capital, it would be exaggerated to claim any precious attachment between bada and the reign. a little nudge, a tiny stumble was necessary to have the transparent monument come shaking down and it arrived in the form of king arturās numbing jealousy. the treacherous change of mind evoked a call for rebellion in the most unexplored part of badaās mind, a point in history she could not gloss over through ignorance. the split carried a personal sacrifice as her brother remained blind to the selfish ways of brittaniaās ruler, causing a rift between brother and sister as bada set out to follow cadan into the ruins of avalon and if necessary, into death.

The season grows colder as a blanket of snow begins to form over every surface. Unsurprising though the winterās climate is, the unprecedented effect it seems to be having on magic speaks of ill omens, curses, angry gods, and foreboding maladies. Human and fairy alike struggle to brew the perfect potion or cast a perfect spell. However, where some see loss, others see fortune. For the magic of nature is bolstered, and magical creatures are born strong while the wild magical beasts grow confident against the human and fairy folk. Reports of sightings near villages prompt Knights to hunt and catchers to befriend beautiful creatures (in particular rare horses) for the likely profitable battles to come.Ā

GEASS
āWords of love shall never exist in your mouth.ā
Priestess Yukana said, leaving him in a state of bewilderment. Bitgaram knew of exchanges bordering on the ridiculous, but he was also familiar with almost punitive vows. He never considered the possibility of being a recipient of the latter kind. As the golden radiance vanished, deeming the contract signed, he reflected on the implications of his new curse. Nevertheless, he did not utter a single word in response. Whatās done is done. Such was the law of equal value in this agreement. He would find a way to make it come true.
Thus, Bitgaram chose to avoid any verbalization of affection, he even gave up on the slightest display of affinity, just to be safe. Love could mean so many things after all. These major changes, with the intention of preserving the vow, alongside his own integrity, had serious consequences on his personality. He turned into a cold person with little regard for othersā feelings. Many of his friends walked away and the fairies in service came to abhor him. Bitgaram has learned to live like this, welcoming solitude as his preferred companion.
DESIRE
Ever since his geass acquisition, Bitgaram has never characterized himself for a particular aspiration. Whatever dream that once crossed his mind was deemed as a childish desire. His apathetic attitude has led him to live without questioning much, including the state of affairs that developed among humans and fairies. His privileged position allowed him this lack of concern. Still, this detachment is a mere facade that he designed to embrace his reality. Deep down, he wishes there was something to fill the cavity of his chest and make him feel again.
In the future, Bitgaram should have his vision of life challenged to the point that he is driven to step outside the comfort zone, in order to question his beliefs. His choice of side is inconsequential, but he needs to show an actual drive for a cause, instead of watching as life goes by. It is also important that he relearns how to empathize with the people that surround him. The fact that Bitgaram cannot express himself verbally to show affection, does not make it impossible for him to demonstrate love through his actions.
Clamor erupted in the silent palace. Master Yoon hurried through the doorway, towards a small group of women gathered around the roomās point of interest. His eyes found what they sought and he fell to his knees beside a bed. Twins, his wife whispered proudly, exhaustion oozing from every pore, even though, a magician held her hand throughout the entire process of labor, leaving the fairy to suffer the intense pains of childbirth. A privilege that a rich merchant could afford. She showed him the newborn babies, swaddled in her arms. It was the first time father greeted daughter and son. For years, they prayed to The Ancients to be able to conceive again. Healers from many places were brought with the purpose of finding a solution, but it seemed that barrenness had been the price to pay for their fortune.
Bada and Bitgaram broke the curse. They were the answer to their yearning. In the twinkling of an eye, Fairy servants were obsequious to the little ones; not that they had another choice. The Yoon family was but another clan prompt to egotistical displays of abundant wealth. Marble quarries worked out in exchange for gold coins ā and the favor of sculptors and architects in Britannia. Despite the assets this shining stone bestowed upon them, none of the two children felt inclined for the business of extracting the mineral. Instead, their main interest turned out to be different than what the parents expected, much to their dismay. Bada swore that she would be a knight when she was older, on the other hand, Bitgaram preferred to deal with magic. One day, they would compliment each otherās skills.
The new master grew up to be serene, elegant and graceful. He was set on his mission to become an apprentice, just like his sister. When their father followed their mother to the grave, the siblings decided to split the inheritance into two and sell the business to someone more capable. Then, they both set out on a journey to meet Grand Priestess Yukana. This would be a major turning point in the twinsā fate. Bitgaramās geass, alongside his proud brow and dark eyes, made him seem cold and apathetic, hard to read. It changed him forever. Bada turned out to be the only person who did not leave his side, although the day would come, when the girl learned about the supposed true king, also fed up by their houseās teachings of human superiority over fairies. Ethical considerations that he chose to ignore. Bitgaram was not prompt to excessive instances of noblesse oblige.
Over the years, he built quite the peculiar reputation. Although he was recognized for his healing abilities, there were hardly any who dared to consult him, because his unsympathetic persona was well-known throughout the region. Heartless Bitgaram, everyone had heard of how cold his insides were. His presence was both reassuring and foreboding, depending your ailment. However, he did not expect bundles of flowers as thanks from the populace, in the same way he did not resent them. Bitgaram treated both humans (thinking of themselves as small-scale divinities) and fairies (with strength born from the often very desperate) alike, his glare penetrating and merciless over them. He was far more learned, dignified than them.
With the threat of war looming on the horizon, and family that has switched to the opposite side, Bitgaram sees the whole picture of what is about to come. It is up to him to rise and make clear who is the tutelary power in this struggle, or become aware of the ravages of his oppressive kingdom, one he has never personally dared to confront. More than two lustra of indifference are taking a toll on him, now more than ever that he is completely alone.

what kind of characters/archetypes do you feel are missing/needed? what would you like to more of on the dash?
This is a bit hard to say since every character thatās been brought have been fairly unique so I donāt have an archetype persay. Personally I think itād be cool to see characters who might be a little older / have more life experiences and what not!

GEASS
āYou must never do evil.ā That may have been the most terrifying thing a fifteen year old boy had heard in his life. A travelling bard passed through the South Vren, mysterious smile on his face as he turned towards the people that flocked in the square, enjoying the warm autumn afternoon. You must never do evil. He had never really thought about evil, or what it meant and implied, but the moment the words left the bardās lips, it seemed to have been the only thing he could think of. Do no evil ā that was quite the generic prophecy, and that was exactly the reason why it terrified Xue Ying so much. What is evil? Insincerity, manipulation, even playful mischief ā can it all be considered evil and malevolent? But, it wasnāt just that. Free will is a wicked thing, and he realised he will have to force himself to be extra careful around people ā what if someone tricks him into doing something that is not immediately perceived as evil ( but is evil in its core ); what if he is deceived? Those are all the questions that have been weighing on him for a decade, the ethical questions of what can be perceived as evil, what is innately considered as evil, and if a personās kind nature can be twisted and deceived into doing evil. The first penalty for an act of evilness that he might commit will be blindness, and since evil must never be given a second chance to take root, if done the second time the result will be a most painful death.
DESIRE
Xue Yingās one and only desire is to keep his younger siblings safe ā that is it. They are the only family he has and he would be damned first that to let any harm befall them ā and that includes his geass. When it comes to the war between humans and fairies, Ying tend to keep an open mind, but heās aligned with Avalon because it seems like the just and honourable thing to do, since fairies are continuously suffering; theyāre being enslaved, poorly and unjustly treated and it just⦠rubs him the wrong way. However, while he is still good and kind, he will also not hesitate to pull out of Avalonās side if it proved to endanger his siblings in any way ā if he was blind, he could still protect them, but if they were harmed or dead, then he wouldnāt have anything to live for anyway What I would like to see explored is his morality ā especially since he is continuously paranoid that heāll do something thatās considered evil, and that always brings about a string of āwhat IS evil?ā questions and polemics and internal struggles. His desire to keep his family safe is honourable and good, but if he had to make an impossible choice to keep them safe at someone elseās expense ( an entire specieās expense, more accurately ) which one of the evils would he choose to commit ā sacrifice his family or go against the oppressed, go against everything his entire being is telling him to fight for ā justice and honour.
Trigger Warning: Death, Murder
Serenity ā the island had been the very definition of an idyllic scenery; the blacks of the volcanic rock mixing with the darkest, richest greens of the plants and trees that grew in abundance, nurtured by the destruction and chaos that had erupted long ago, making the island the most prosperous and fertile place in, many would argue, the world. It had been a wonderful place to live in, to thrive and grow much like the plants that nurtured the Vrenās inhabitants ā and Xue Ying was no exception. Serenity and happiness surrounded the young boy from the moment he was born, the eldest of three children, but oddly enough, the least responsible ā even the youngest of Yingās siblings had been more ecstatic about helping out in the fields, or running to the docks to help with loading in the cargo, despite being nine years younger than Xue Ying. Born from a union of South Vrenās most respectable merchant and the most successful farmer, the boy had been raised to be carefree and optimistic, kind and with a perpetual smile plastered on his face ā and with the profound kind of childish naivetĆ© lacing through his temperament. But, nothing lasts forever. No innocence is left uncorrupted, no innocence is left intact and the young, soft, carefree boy was soon to learn that every kind heart and every soft smile came at a price ā whether that price was in blood or in tears, he would learn it, too. And he would learn what it means to be plagued by things that were not his doing, nor his fault ā nor related to him by any means, but those of blood and family. It started with a travelling bard, when he was fifteen ā his life up until that point had been filled with nothing but laughter and joy, playing with his younger siblings and taking on their childish mischief as his own, to spare them from their parentsā kind-hearted ( but rather stern ) scolding. He may have been mischievous himself, but when it came to his family, he was the protector. But, then that damned bard appeared, with his unnerving smile and even more unnerving words ā words that threatened to choke him to death on the spot. His eyes found his younger siblings, playing by the fountain and he was quick to reach them, a frown setting between his brows ā frown that will soon find its home on his face ā as his fingers curled around his siblingsā smaller wrists, tugging them along to go home. Yet, despite having the reassurance of his younger siblingsā presence by his side, there was a creeping feeling of dread that he could not seem to shake. That dread followed him for days, keeping him restless and in a sort of feverish daze during the nights, his thoughts all the while attempting to get to the bottom of both his sudden paranoia and the words that the grinning prophet so elegantly and effortlessly spewed in his face. Evil. Evil. All his thoughts were concentrated on it and the shift from the carefree boy to something so⦠frantic had been instant ā and terrifying in its own way. He thought that it could not get any worse ā so long as he avoids doing evil deeds, so long as he steps up to become the very definition of kindness and obedience, then he will not fall and he will be out of danger to bring harm onto himself and, by proxy, his family as well. But, what Xue Ying forgot was that he was not the only person in the world and that the people he had grown familiar and friendly with had all had their agendas, their secrets ā and that included his parents. He really did no evil, nor pondered doing it, but that did not mean he would remain innocent and as happy as he could be given the geass. It came in the night, as such things always come ā hidden and veiled with darkness; a wickedness that could leave a person breathless, soul hanging from the lips at the sheer terror of it. His siblings, one eight years old and the other six, were restless and so they tiptoed to his room and crawled in his bed, seeking protection from the monsters that hid in the darkness of their rooms. Of course, there were no monsters under their beds nor were there any razor sharp smiles in the darkness, but he still comforted them and protected them. The unease that had been following him for days returned with a vengeance in that moment ā when the first scream echoed through the house. Xue Ying was out of the bed within a heartbeat, tossing a frantic look in his siblingsā direction, before kneeling down and telling them to barricade the doors and keep quiet, until either he or their parents come to get them ā a triple knock and a brown owlās hoot would be their code. Despite the fact that he had only ever fought a tree before, Ying picked up the sword his mother bought him during one of her travels to the continent and staled through the door, quietly closing them behind himself. Hearing the click of the lock as one of his siblings obeyed his instructions brought only a momentary sense of relief ā torn immediately by another scream, a deeper scream. Whatever happened next was a blur ā a blur of masked figured with blood-painted grins on the silver-and-obsidian masks. He remembers terror, and fear, and rage and instinct kicking in, a mix of emotions culminating with violence - and vengeance that followed swiftly. With bloodied hands the ripped off the masks one by one; rage magnified as familiar, trusted faces appeared in front of him ā their eyes dead, but holding a hint of surprise in their final moments; a surprise that a naive, sweet boy would be able to fight back, would be able to answer wickedness with vengeance ā and vengeance was never evil if it was just. In a daze he cleaned the room, and cleaned himself from the blood that now shattered his innocence and softness, sharp edges already creeping on his face, weighing down the corners of his mouth, extinguishing the bright embers that always seemed to ignite his eyes. It took him over an hour to bury his parents in the field and to hide the bodies of their murderers in a place his siblings would not get to glimpse at when he comes to get them ā and take them away from the house that had now been bathed in blood. If setting everything up took an hour, then packing all of the valuable and useful things took another one. There have been tear stains on his siblingsā cheeks when they opened the door at his signal, and the very look on their faces drew another sharp edge on his face. Taking them away had been the most reasonable and rational thing to do ā torching down their childhood home had been hard and it completely shattered his heart, but it had been a necessity, and as he set his siblings in front of himself on a horse, Xue Ying forced himself to remain composed and cold, if only for the sake of the only family he has left. Their new home was not so bad ā and he had realised that much of his parentsā boring lectures about trade and money had paid off, for in Oxdwell he had made a name of himself, continuing to protect and care for his siblings., while trading in protective spells and rare merchandise he had left from that place, the place he dreads to remember as home ā that place had been nothing but a scorched, desolate and barren chunk of land, much like what his heart had turned into. Yet, despite the⦠calmer days he now has, Xue Ying had never forgotten the geass, and with war brewing on the horizon, he wondered if neutrality could be seen as evil. In truth, he was tired of blood, tired of murder ā committing it once in a lifetime had been more than enough; the nightmares had plagued him for months, screams bubbling in the pit of his throat before his instincts would kick in to muffle it, to prevent his siblings from being spooked or traumatised, despite never experiencing ā or learning ā the truth behind their sudden move and why momma and papa were not coming with them. No, he did not want to have any part of it, but doing nothing in the face of such suffering and injustice was a great evil ā and it was not solely the fear of his geass that pushed him to align with fairies, with Avalon. Those dangerous feeling he had felt when his parents were murdered resurfaced every time he would witness an injustice, and before he would do something rash he would have to force himself to think of his siblings ā if he fails, they will be alone in the world, defenceless, innocent and naive, with no one to protect them ā and that would have been the greatest evil he could ever commit.
