Murderers’ Last Meals
Name: Zirnitra
Alternate Names: Black Dragon, Rosvodiz
Mythology: Slavic Mythology, Wendish Mythology
Size: Huge, standing tall like a true dragon.
Environment: Any place with shadows and darkness, probably underground too.
In Mythika: One of the most powerful dragon breeds, the Zirnitra comes in two versions in Mythika, one juvenile and one adult.
The juvenile Zirnitra is called a Gloom Drake, these smaller drakes are already very murderous spellcasters that hide within the shadow and use their magic to lure and kill prey. Their scales are all black, no purple scales are found on their bodies yet. They don’t have a breath weapon yet, instead they cast spells of shadow and darkness and turn every area they live In into a hell of darkness and horror.
The adult Zirnitra are known as Umbral Dragons, these magnificent evil dragons put most other dragons and shadow-based creatures to shame with their magical abilities over darkness, shadow and raw primal magic. Their breathweapon is a cone of darkness and shadow that rips away the shadow of creatures caught within it and turns them into shadow minions that fight for the Zirnitra. They rule over all other shadow-based creatures such as Gaueko, Bauk, Sigbin, Fear Dorcha and Barghests. They teach many promising evil warlocks to cast powerful magic, but always at a very high price or sacrifice.

Name: Ya-Te-Veo
Alternate Names: Man-Eating Tree, Yateveo, I See You
Mythology: Central America, Africa
Size: Large to Huge
Environment: Jungle Rain Forests
In Mythika: These alien plants were probably created by the Grey’s strange alien science. While their tentacles are made from wood, they are extremely flexible being able to bend in all directions, appearing as a swarm of snakes. Ya-Te-Veo are often found near Grey settlements or in dark jungles if they have broken free from the Grey’s chains. In the game these tree horrors have multiple attacks each round and they can eat lesser creatures to regain health. Otherwise they are just cool plant-based enemies with awesome appearance.

Doctors in the UK thought they had three years before colistin-resistance would spread from China to the UK.
Bacteria that resist the most common antibiotic of last resort - colistin - have been discovered in the UK.
Officials say the threat to human health is low, but is under ongoing review.
Scientists warned the world was on the cusp of a post-antibiotic era when such resistance was discovered in China last month.
Now checks have discovered the same resistance on three farms and in samples of human infections.
When all other antibiotics fail then doctors turn to colistin - that’s why it is so important.

Nature to illuminate research
Here you can see fireflies, a type of beetle that glows.
Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light from enzymes called luciferases. In nature, many organisms such as jellyfish and fireflies ‘glow’ using these enzymes.
In scientific research, bioluminescent proteins are used to monitor changes to cells.
In the bottom images around 7000 bacterial colonies have been printed on an agar plate. The bacteria have been genetically engineered to display the bioluminescent enzyme from the firefly Photinus pyralis.
The images were taken with a sensitive camera which can detect the light output from luciferase in each colony. The light output of different types of luciferase can be analysed to discover which ones have enhanced characteristics that could be used in research.

Name: Iku-Turso
Alternate Names: Iku-Tursas, Iki-Tursas, Meritursas, Tursas, Cthulhu (Just kiddin, but close in appearance)
Mythology: Finnish Mythology
Size: Large or huge, depending on the myth
Environment: Filthy lakes and oceans
In Mythika: Humongous disease-worshipping sea monsters from the depths of the ocean. Their tentacles spread a horrid disease that won’t kill the host but will make its life a hell. Diseased victims are taken to their underwater lairs where they are taken care of like cattle, they use the Lilyi slime to let their prisoners breath underwater. They often work together with Siyokoy and Lilyi as well. It is said that the diseased victims turn into horrible mutants called Iku-Spawn after a while which serve the Horseman of Pestilence like the Iku-Turso do.
Iku-Spawn – These horrors look pretty much like human-sized Mind Flayer-like mermen, they serve the Iku-Turso and the Horseman of Pestilence without question.

A 1929 medical treatise on the diagnosing and treatment of various diseases with colored lights and magnets.
“Until now humans and their works were disease of surface of planets. Mother Nature tends to compensate disease, to remove it, or isolate, to incorporate in the system in its own way. Historical system of mutual plunder and destruction ends here where we are. You can not indefinitely steal everything you need, without paying attention to those who come after us. The physical conditions of the planet are part of the economic and political history. We have the story before our eyes, so our path is clear.” ~ Frank Herbert (“Dune”) ~ Humans are a disease!
Mice with Alzheimer’s get symptoms reversed in just one week after novel protein injection
The deadly disease—and later efforts to control it—influenced trends for decades
“By the mid-1800s, tuberculosis had reached epidemic levels in Europe and the United States. The disease, now known to be highly infectious, attacks the lungs and damages other organs. Before the advent of antibiotics, its victims slowly wasted away, becoming pale and thin before finally dying of what was then known as consumption. The Victorians romanticized the disease and the effects it caused in the gradual build to death. For decades, many beauty standards emulated or highlighted these effects. And as scientists gained greater understanding of the disease and how it was spread, the disease continued to keep its hold on fashion.” Read more: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/how-tuberculosis-shaped-victorian-fashion-180959029/
