Isa stands rigid, like the soldier she never really was. Her glowing brown eyes are the only part of her that move, tracking the woman’s movement. “I don’t believe we’ve met,” she answers with a slight accent.

    “I’m not complaining about that. It saves me a lot of        aches and pains.”

 It wasn’t like he was going to argue. Since Isa had joined their  team, he had come home with a lot less bullet holes and bruises,  something he appreciated. He scrambled into the van after her,  slipping into the driver’s seat and put it into gear. The question  surprised him but he just shrugged.

     “Probably go home, drink and jerk off. Why do you ask?”

     “And I haven’t laughed so much on the job since...      Actually, I just haven't.”

She initially chafed against having a partner. They said ‘training’, she heard ‘deadweight’. But he impressed her every now and then. The most impressive thing about him was that she not only tolerated his presence, she actually enjoyed it. That was rare; she  had little patience for most people.

    “I, too, plan on drinking. Perhaps we could drink together?       Probably not jerk off together, or...that is the thing you do with      your penis, correct?”
