“Shunsui?”
“Uh oh~ Looks like I’ve been spotted~”
“Of course, of course! It might have been left for awhile but I plan to make it all right as soon as possible~”
”And I’m sure you’re not going to just string me along. After all, you are a man of your word, ne?”
“Looks like I won’t be making good on that one~”
”It’s all water under the bridge~ I guess you could say you owe me one.”
[ Blog updated finally! Also minor URL change ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ]
And there it was. That word again. Chaperone.
"I don’t need someone to watch over me like I’m a little kid. I’m old enough to take care of myself. I don’t want a chaperone to follow me around like— like I’m a child.” She didn’t like being treated like the baby anymore. How was she supposed to learn anything, or get stronger if she was always forced to stay home.
She still had so much to learn.
"Have I called you a child? When was the last time I told Juushiro of you sneaking out?" He sighed, keeping his voice calm all the while. "Because we worry does not equate us thinking you are a kid. It simply means we care for your well being."
"If you can care for yourself --then draw your zanpakuto." Making no motion for his own. Simply standing, hands clasped beneath wide sleeves.
"Did you?!" Feeling a little bit of scolding might come on, she wasn’t sure what she could say to get out of that.
"It was just a little late night exploring, you know?"
Though she seemed proud of herself, the brunet was actually concerned.
"Suzume-- you know your brother set a curfew for good reason. It's dangerous for you to go out on your own. If you want to explore further, just ask me to be your chaperone. Simple as that. Juushiro gets worried for your safety."
"It’s nice to see you too, Shun-san. It’s been awhile. How’ve you been?"
"Well enough, I suppose." His kind smile presented.
"You know, I sensed you returning to the barracks well past curfiew the other night." Arching a brow, still grinning somewhat.
Her creeper senses were tingling.
"What a pleasant surprise, Suzume-chan."
There were certain people from Rose’s past that he could remember from his former years as a captain, alive only through a bittersweet taste in his mouth. Like honey in brandy, Shunsui was one of them. Old and familiar, and always with that remarkably calm aura… laced with just a bit of ominousness. They were similar. Lazily, Rose turned his head with eyebrows as raised as ever. Could there be something he wished to speak about? It wasn’t often that the musician spoke to any captains other than his fellow visored ones. "Of course, Captain Kyoraku." He responded delicately before taking his requested place with a slight hunch. "I do hope nothing came up while I was wandering?”
✿— That warm expression remained on the lazy Captain's visage as the other gracefully accepted his invitation. Not a single moment of the peace was disturbed even as the blond spoke. It was a true talent to so effortlessly blend with the surrounding calm the way Rose did.
Shunsui admired that about him.
"Oh no no. There is nothing to worry for, my friend." A lighthearted laugh parted his lips. "It seems a rare thing to find a few moments peace these days, ne?" Casual conversation was something the brunet was rather prone to. "In fact, I was just thinking how it would be nice to share just such a moment with someone."
There was a light breeze as he spoke. A few pale pink petals dancing about and floating past the two. As if right on cue. "It's as if the winds of fate had whisked you away to this very spot at just the right time."
He spoke like free-form poetry. Some words hinted at the tune he was humming but a minute or two ago.
"How have you been doing? It's been a while since we last spoke."
✿-- Relaxing in the shade of a cherry blossom tree, simply enjoying the peace and quiet. Lightly humming a melody to himself. Fingertips idly gracing over the blades of grass as steel grey eyes scanned the clouds above.
There was a familiar presence nearby-- and drawing closer. Quite the pleasant reverberation of reiatsu, a light percussion perfectly in tune with those practiced steps. This aura could only belong to one Shinigami.
A tilt up of his hat, casting a kind expression to the blond that was now within an acceptable speaking distance. "Ah, Rojuro Taichou~ What a pleasant surprise."
Sitting up slightly, patting a spot beside him. "Come, join me a while, won't you?"
Baiken felt truly troubled.
A deep sigh falling from his lips before he managed to bring the end of the pipe back to his lips while he sat in the usual place that his captain had frequented. Shifting oddly, and looking out over the seireitei with a sort of admiration that he had only learned to have through his time here in the 8th Division.
He adored this Division, and he wasn’t sure how it was he could be thinking to leave it, but at the same time the decision he was debating on only made more and more sense when he thought about it.
He had asked Shunsui to meet him here so that they could share some lunch and sake. Unfortunately he hadn’t felt too hungry even after picking up the food. Staring now at the basket and then to his lap as he exhaled a slow pillar of smoke
Coming up to his most favorite spot to relax, Kyoraku felt a familiar reiatsu. Casting lazy grey eyes upwards, he saw that trademark pink hair. A small curl of a grin came across his features.
Making his way over to him, humming a soft melody to compliment his casual pace. "Ah~ Baiken-kun~. I hope you haven't been waiting for very long." Settling down beside the younger as he removed his hat, placing it on the grass beside himself.
Head tilting slightly in a gesture to the basket. "What have you prepared today? I must admit, this old man has worked up quite the appetite." Letting out a lighthearted chuckle despite himself.
Quickly he snatched the hat and put his hands through the sugary treats. Casually he dumped them all in his own pocket to save for later. Sneak a few when a certain fuddy-duddy fukutaichou didn’t catch him. Then Gin put the hat on his own head, wrapping a hanging kimono sleeve around himself and laughed out. “Gimmeh sake!”
There was no way he couldn't laugh lightly at the tiniest interpretation of himself. "Pardon me, Kyoraku-Taichou, do you happen to know where Gin-kun wandered off to?" Tapping at his own chin with a mock look of confusion as he played along. Shunsui was always fond of games, he felt it relaxed the soul.
