Addy looked at Andy, for a moment nervous. that was Andy’s serious face. for a moment, her hand reached up, slowly covering the bird’s head and looking up at Andy. “…no?” the peeping coming out from under her hand spoke otherwise, though. “look, I don’t know how I didn’t notice he was here! i’m as surprised as you are.” she looked up at Andy, nervous but not really. Andy loved her.

Andy closed her eyes and drew in a slow deep breath. “Just...keep her hidden.” A duckling was exactly what this party didn’t need.

“Sure,” Venine jumped into action without much hesitation. Even in the body of a forty-five year old, she was fit enough to remove the skirt without worrying -- and even if her stomach looked less tonified, she still wouldn’t have understood enough to care. “I just hope I won’t let you down,” she giggled, leaving her sandals by the pool and getting in by the stairs. The cold water touching her skin cut her breath away, but she kept a bimbo smile on regardless.

Andy had to suppress a smile and a chuckle at Venine’s enthusiasm as she moved to remove her own skirt and set it on a lounge chair with her heels and purse. Andy followed Venine over to the pool, almost like a proud sibling or parent. “We both know I have high expectations but I have confidence in your abilities.”

“I appreciate you not dressing me too ridiculously.” Andromache commented to her stylist, though it meant a lot more to her than her tone showed.

Addy was grinning, just as she did every time there was one of these dances. Addy loved balls, which was no secret to anyone. she liked dressing up, looking nice, seeing all her friends (and everyone in the tower was her friend!) and getting to dance with them. it was a spot of sunshine in the middle of a very scary time at the tower.

she hadn’t even realized one of her six ducklings had snuck into her jacket pocket until she was downstairs, in the ballroom.

When she’d pulled on someone’s hand to dance with them, Mr Flippers quacked very loudly from her jacket pocket. she looked down, just as surprised as the person across from her. at least it was the pocket she always kept lined with a paper towel in case of accidents, right???? “Mister Flippers, you weren’t supposed to come to the dance! you aren’t even dressed up!”

“i’m sorry about him, we’re working on manners”

“Addy, is that a duckling?” Andy asked carefully, eyes honed in on the small bird as Addy pulled on Andy’s hand.

“Here’s your big chance to see if you remember how to swim. How about we go test the water together?” Andy suggested to the ‘lighter’ version of herself.

“I’ve never swam in my life, but I think I can manage it,” she nodded, mainly to herself, as she was completely captivated by the screen. Then, like a sunflower towards another, she looked back to lock eyes with Andy, who’d been kind enough to accompany her watching the Games. “I mean, I’ve never tried it, but I think I know how to do it from you. Though this arena is quite confusing. Too many tunnels.”

Andy wasn’t sure what she had been expecting as far as this Games’ Arena but this wasn’t it. As Venine spoke, Andy turned her attention to the other women. “Perhaps you should try it sometime. I’d be interested to see if the muscle memory carried over to you.” Andy’s eyes flicked back to the Arena just in time to see Theo accidently bump into the girl from Two. “Fuck” She muttered, knowing this wasn’t going to end well for the young boy from Seven. Andy’s eyes moving back to Venine, she was curious how the other women would react to the scene playing out on the screen.

“I’ll love to read the file!” she was excited to have something to do. Especially since she had studied procedure and knew how things worked as well as Andy did, meaning that even though she was a stranger to life itself, she was not unfamiliar with the concept and rules of what she had to do. “They’re all very nice. No one reacted ugly at all. I’m just… Sometimes, only, I’m a little… alone.” Saying lonely, especially in front of Andy, felt like betrayal. Weakness. Lameness.

Andy allowed herself a slight smile at how excited Venine was to be give something to do. Andy nodded along slowly to what Venine was saying but hid her surprise at the last thing her clone said. Being alone was something Andy had been very familiar with her entire life after her soulmate died but lately with the changes happening within Seven’s team it was true even more so. However, Andy for the most part had adjusted to and come to welcome being alone, Venine obviously hadn’t. “You’re allowed friends as long as they don’t interfere with you doing your job. It would probably be good for you to make friends, in fact, gain some positive support for your existence and make you seem more approachable.”

“Yes, sure. I have a nice armchair,” Venine nodded along, stepping aside to leave space for Andy to come into the room. “I should probably work for you by now. I’m here for it, after all. It’s the whole reason why I’m here to begin with.”

Andy walked into the old Peacekeeper Quarter room, she looked around wondering if Venine had decorated at all. She turned back to the blonde “Your first task will start when training starts. We can discuss it in a moment.” Andy moved to sit in the armchair “How have people in the Tower been treating you? Are they receptive to you?”

“Our era ended a long time ago, Andy.” Stone replied, stressing the first word. She had left a long time ago, and while she was still often found on the Seventh floor, he did not consider her part of the team. Not since the time she had branded him as a traitor, at least. He fell silent then, letting her talk. She was right; they were just fine working in silence, and they were comfortable in it. Right now, things were darker, far more messed up, but it was still the same. “Why?” He asked her eventually, yet the question wasn’t angry or annoyed. “Everything was just as messy as it is now.”

Andy didn’t fail to notice the stress on the first word but she didn’t let her expression change, let it betray how she felt before she pushed all hints of the emotions away. Andy let a silence follow Stone’s question before she spoke still looking forward and not at Stone “Because even if everything was just as messy then as it is now, at least before I let the darkness change my view of the world I knew I had my brother.” She pressed her lips before turning to look at Stone “I’m not asking for your forgiveness, you shouldn’t have to give that nor do I think you would anyway, but I do want you to know that I still think back about how things used to be with us.” She reached in her jacket to pull out her flask. “But reminiscing doesn’t change the things I’ve done.” She extended the flask out to Stone.

Nobody knocked on her door, so it naturally startled her. Yet, when she opened it with the naivety of a child, she was genuinely happy to see… well, herself. “Oh, thank you for visiting. Reading was getting so boring I almost forgot how to do it.” Her smile faded a little as she imagined this couldn’t just be a pleasant visit. Why would Andromache want to see her aside from literal actual work. “How can I help?”

Andy couldn’t help the small smile that began to form on her lips upon hearing Venine’s greeting. “I just wanted to come check on you. May I come in?” Andy asked her clone.

A chaotic neutral character follows his whims. He is an individualist first and last. He values his own liberty but doesn't strive to protect others' freedom. “I’m not scared of the glass breaking in a place like this,” she answered calmly. “If the Capitol spent so much time making sure each button in the elevator was color coded, I know the glass won’t give. I’m a tiny little thing.” She didn’t know which of her mentors she would end up listening to the most. She certainly had her pick, like some sort of gameshow where she could pick between the four of them to decide who would guide her.

“Intelligent, good reasoning and observation skills.” Andy nodded in acknowledgement of everything the girl had said. “What else have you noticed since you got here?”

Andy has gone down to the old Peacekeeper Quarters in search of Venine. Knocking on the door she waited for the clone to answer the door.

He had a daughter. Stone had always wanted to have children, but after his parents and his sister were murdered because he did not want to be part of this, he had come to realize that that wish was never bound to come true. But now, here he was, with a girl he barely knew on his hands, and in constant fear that her life would come to end in a matter of weeks.

It was unnatural for Stone to mope around, but it was exactly what he was doing. He wasn’t bothered with looking up when he heard someone approach, and he didn’t even back away when he realized who it was. “It feels like an eternity and a whole other life ago.” He responded. He was already plagued by the loss of his family, yet now, he would have rather been back there. “This floor used to be quieter.”

Andy nodded slowly “You and I always did seem to do fine working in silence.” She breathed in a slow deep breath “But we aren’t getting younger. One day it’ll all be up to the three of them. Our era is slowly coming closer and closer to a close.” Andy didn’t plan to retire anytime soon but she also knew she couldn’t keep this up forever and she was sure Stone was beginning to feel that as well. “You know...” She cleared her throat, looking out in front of her “We both know words and wishes don’t change anything but...sometimes I wish we could go back to before it all.” What Stone wanted to take ‘it all’ to mean was open to his interpretation.

When the girl spoke up, Lincoln still didn’t look at her. Was it not obvious what he was doing? “Sitting here.” He told her, hoping that was enough and she would go away.

“Why?” Andy asked dryly, continuing to stare. “Are you just sitting here doing nothing?”
