There were few people as physically strong as Declan. He knew this about himself, because he knew what it meant to survive. Those who had values that they stuck to eventually would die. There were no kindnesses afforded those who did what they perceived to be right. Evil didn’t care about right or wrongs. It cared only for doing what was needed to be done to survive. Life isn’t a nice book with a nice ending. Good people died on that farm- people that certainly deserved to live more than him. He knew if he ever had to make hard decisions he would be the first one to accept that it had to be done, because he had already been there.
Yet somehow as those caramel eyes looked up at him, Declan wondered if he was strong enough to do this right. He kept telling himself up until that moment that he was the best person for this; that he more than anyone else could show her the compassion that she deserved.
Suddenly, He began to panic as he realized that she was putting her trust inside of his hands. The hands that killed so many people. How could that ever be something good? How could he ever do something good after everything that he had already done? His darkened green eyes searched her.
Then she began to speak. There was such a trust there that he had never seen before in another person. There in her eyes, in her voice, in her body he found warmth he had never felt before. Tied up in her arms he found for the first time in his life someone that really saw him and cared about him in a way that was completely new to him.
“I want to see all the colors.”
With that he nodded slowly before pulling back, lining himself carefully, and slowly slid inside of her. As he slid in he bent down and softly kissed her. A reminder of who was with her. As he bottomed out, he groaned a bit loudly before he pulled back just as slowly. “Iza.” He hissed as he looked down into her eyes trying to keep her there with him. Sure part of why he was going slow was for her, but another part was because the way she felt around him was indescribable. A deep hungry part of him yearned to push things. It was the first time in many years since Declan had been with a female, and even worse for him he was with someone who made his stomach flop with every glance up at him through those long eyelashes.
