one of the biggest reasons why loustat could never work in the past was because they were never really friends.

pre-vampire louis, while yes, absolutely thirsting over lestat was still being played by Lestat with the mind gift. he was a human being seduced by a creature with powers. post-turning louis was someone in relationship/companionship with a 150 year old vampire who was also his maker. they were in love but they never really got time to be just best friends - which is the cornerstone for a relationship. and then in order to fix their shitty marriage, they decided to do the dumbest shit and became parents. then they were cheaters and murderers and exes for a long time and it’s only after the hurricane scene - after almost 77 years of not seeing each other that they get to start over on equal footing. as friends. which is why 3x6 hits so well. the vampires kept on forcing the narrative that there can be no human bond stronger than the one between a maker and a child but the bond ended up as the biggest obstacle for it didn’t leave no space for the power of friendship in this essay i will -

I must say one of the things I hated the most of tvl is that it pitted fans one against the other. that it brought fans to fight instead of trying, for how hard might it be, to find the beauty in tvl, the moments of brightness in this season. many seem to be raging one against the other, trying to find right in a set of grey characters.
