The claw around his neck didn’t even bother him, he just purred and lifted a hand to hold the other’s wrist, red sparks flashing to heal the shallow cut on his neck, the sparks followed by laughter and he spoke again.
“Ooooooh Quite the perceptive one, have you finally grown a brain after all these years????” Deceit crooned, his tongue darting out to run over his lips, “You don’t scare me, Brother. I’ve never been scared of you….You’re just a child, wanting and wanting….”
He was pushing the limits but he knew he’d just come back if Greed did end up killing him, He’d give Wrath the report of his findings and then their foolish older brother will learn to never mess with Father or leave the family again.
“I’ve always wondered why Father never ended you, you’re absolutely useless, you can’t protect those you love for long, the end is inevitable and you know exactly what’s going to happen to them and guess what….? 100 years ago you helped push forward exactly what we’re aiming for now…Father’s ascension to godhood. Soon your little friends will be dead… because of you. I will always be in your head, Greed. Face it, You will NEVER escape your past.”
he may be the avaricious, but right now all he could feel was fury.
unbothered by deceit’s healing (he knew all too well little cuts would be nothing to him), he squeezed his hand, claws digging into his brother’s neck, piercing the flesh, lodging themselves in his neck.
he hated this. he hated how easily deceit got into his head, how he knew exactly what to say to drive greed mad. how greed couldn’t torture him in turn, because deceit was so utterly heartless, there was nothing to hold over his head. not like greed’s family possessions.
“father’s never gonna succeed. none of you rats will. i’ll be the only one left. don’t you know?”
he slammed deceit onto the ground now, claws ripping out of his throat violently.
“you underestimate humans. they’re not ants to be crushed under your boots. they’re gonna stop you. i’ve seen what they’re capable of, and i know where i’m placing my bets.”
that’s the one thing greed had over deceit, over father. the knowledge that humans can actually win.
