I'm gonna leave a little rant here about religions before going to bed:
I don't think that religion as a general concept is a bad thing. What I do think is a bad thing is how most, if not all of them stayed the same for more than a thousand years and the believers using mere religion as a moral compass. People finding a way to have some sort of escape from the struggles of everyday life, and hope that there is something beyond the mortal realm ready to welcome us is a beautiful thing. Beacuse the thought that we won't just rot underground with our soul's only purpose being to be remembered after a life of so many emotions and experiences is a great source of hope for the most of us. However, for some reason we decided to use these beautiful things to oppress eachother and think of certain people as lesser beings just beacuse they don't believe in the very thing we use as a tool to give us as individuals hope.
So in conclusion: I think religion can only reach it's true purpose as a way of giving us hope amd happiness if we take it as something deeply personal, and not as a tool to place yourself on a moral pedestal above all people.
