#rewatching shameless early seasons weirdly just making me more appreciative of sunny for some reason LOL #sunny not having a single season i dislike in its totality until s13 whereas i hate shameless after s4 #i can kind of respect why people still believe 5-7 were good and the show’s true fall off didn’t occur until s8 #because there are some salvageable moments and storylines there…#but as a whole shameless s1-4 just have an authenticity cohesion and integrity that the rest of the show just doesn’t #sunny you are simply superior to the other long-running tv shows of your time #you had a flop era late in your life but you got right back up #also i remember back in the day when both shows had a significant overlap in fandom #and people used to call mickey and mac kindred spirits like why are we lying #they’re both just gay with abusive fathers that’s where the parallels begin and end #mickey would want mac dead let’s be serious

Season 18's Logline! (from Deadline):

In season 18, Charlie, Mac, Dennis (Howerton), Dee (Olson), and Frank (DeVito) are wrapped up in salvaging inheritances from a dead woman, surviving tent encampments and the great inside-outside divide between the haves and have-nots, withstanding job loss at the hands of workplace automation, embracing a newfound appreciation for neurodivergence, questioning the fabric of society against conspiracy theories, and of course — the biggest elephant in the room — outlasting the public’s pendulum swing against drinking. Not to mention battling nerds, LARPers, and a particularly petulant McPoyle clan at the Renaissance Faire or sportswashing their way back into the good graces of their community by sponsoring a Little League team. All the while trying to maintain order in their personal lives and at Paddy’s, which have become increasingly lawless and erratic.

Deadline claims the Season will air at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on FXX, FX and Hulu. This seems to claim it will not only air on the West Coast simultaneously with the East coast, but that it will drop on Hulu at the same time as it airs on FX, which is very strange and doesn't seem correct.. but we shall see

ATP we knew enough to believe Season 18 wasn't written to be the final season, but it's definitely an additional comfort that Heath Cullens is confident they'll go to Season 20, and seems pretty sure FX wants to renew it

#this satisfies me now but i know when the day comes i will be shaking over that too #i started sunny between s14 and 15 and when the 15-18 renewal came i was like #oh i’ll be fine by then. that’ll be enough #but alas. it is not #and after the beautiful princess that s17 was they couldn’t possibly force me to let go.
