the problem truly isn't that he headcanons emet-selch as gay. it's how the initial post characterized other fans who ship him with women, and furthermore how he's doubled-down, denied the existence of other queer creators in the fandom, refused to respond in good faith while dismissing all criticism as nothing but bad faith himself, and ultimately failed to say anything in solidarity with bi people to dispel any potential misreading.

i'm putting this as firmly but non-aggressively as possible; i'm not trying to fan any flames. but while his response to that ask in isolation could be generously construed as just being bad with words, his overall behavior is simply unacceptable for how you treat fellow community members.

the initial ask was... really bad and i definitely agree with that, i'm 100% ship and let ship and if you don't like what someone else ships, simply don't engage with it. there was zero reason at all whatsoever to shit on people who ship emet with women. you can feel how you feel but sometimes you gotta keep it to yourself

re: "denied the existence of other queer creators in the fandom": the way i read it was that he's a major queer creator and frankly there aren't many of those, especially if you look outside of tumblr. but again that's just how i read it, that is definitely not what he directly said, and looking back at that comment again it definitely does feel like he's put himself on a bit of a pedestal. and it does kinda squick me out that instead of apologizing or even acknowledging that he hurt people, he basically said "i'm not wrong tho"

i like to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to stuff like this (i do ultimately think it's miscommunication and he's kinda lost in the moment defending himself rather than recognizing what he Actually Said) so i personally am gonna give a couple days to see if he does anything about it or if he just sweeps it under the rug

the last line of the ethos voicemail in other languages being something closer to "nobody will be able to stop you" is so interesting to me. if we actually get the wol acting on incomplete information and doing The Wrong Thing, doing damage because they literally can't be stopped, theyre too powerful....

after dawntrail being so much about the wol as a mentor, guiding wuk lamat, taking the role of venat in living memory, people have been taking the announcement that evercold will be more wol-focused as an apology, like "sorry for making you do that but our next expansion will be exclusively the wol doing cool things because theyre the most powerful and coolest and thats what you want", but i think it might actually be more interesting than that. from what we got in 7.5 they're really going into the question of what happens when you're personally powerful enough to make anything happen. what if you decide to do something and nobody can stop you
