A little bit of background
1. Run a 5k. I am not a runner. I did track for a year in middle school, and I know it is a good way to stay in shape but I just do not enjoy running. Somehow I found myself freshman year telling my friend, now roommate, that I would run a 5k with her. I know it is something that if I put the proper training time into I am fully capable of completing. Here I am almost done with senior year and I have still not run a 5k...or even started training for one. Before graduation, I want to fulfill this long promise.
2. Go Vegan for a day. People who can make radical dietary changes fascinate me. I have friends who have turned vegetarian or who have given up processed sugar. I have never felt the desire to give up meat or processed sugar but the idea intrigues me. So for a day, I want to experience what my friends experience everyday of their lives.
3. Take a Lynda class. We are so fortunate here at Ball State to have the opportunity to take Lynda classes for FREE. Lynda offers online classes in photoshop, adobe acrobat, dreamweaver, etc. I have known about Lynda since freshman year, and have yet to utilize it. So before this offer ends I want to take full advantage of it and learn a new skill along the way.
4. Clean my room and donate 15 things to charity. I wouldn't say I am a hoarder or a terribly messy person but I do tend to keep my room in a kind of messy state. I also like to keep things on the off chance I may need them again. Getting ready to graduate though has made me realize I am not going to have a need for many of the things in my room nor the space to keep them. So why not donate them to people would could actually use them.
5. Go to a concert. I love music; it's in my blood. Seeing live music is something I have always enjoyed and it has been way to long since I have been to a concert. College and busyness should not be an excuse to not do the things we enjoy. So i'm going to take the time to do something I enjoy.
6. Go kayaking. I've canoed, I've paddle boated but I've never been kayaking. I certainly think it looks fun. Plus Ball State offers cheap rentals of kayaking equipment. So I'm gonna get a friend and we're going to go kayaking.
7. Go to an IndyEleven game. I'll admit, I am a fairly new soccer fan, and I mainly watch the English Premier League (go Everton!). But I've gotten very into it, very fast. Around the time I became a fan, Indianapolis got a new professional soccer team. I want to again do something I enjoy and go see my first professional soccer match.
8. Wear no make up for a day. Since I've been old enough to know what make up was, (and how to put it on properly) I have been wearing it. It may not be a lot everyday, but I at the very least always have mascara on. (Blonde eyelashes y'all, killer). I want to spend a day not concerned with how I look, and just rejoice in my God given beauty.
9. Find and go to the tailor. I have a confession; I am only 5'2. I am pretty short. Pants, specifically dress pants, tend to be made for someone much taller. Ever pair of dress pants I own I am required to wear at minimum 3-inch heels with. I want to find a good tailor and go to them and give myself some pants that fit without heels.
10. Go on a road trip. Now, before we get ahead of ourselves this does not need to be a cross country road trip (though that would be amazing). I just simply enjoy traveling, and one of the easiest ways to get somewhere is to drive. I want to take sometime and visit some place new via the road.
11. Get a music lesson. Speaking of cheap things you can do on a college campus, and my love for music, I want to take a music lesson. Most music schools at universities have graduate students who teach music lessons for a discounted price. I want to utilize this opportunity and take a basic music lesson.
12. Donate plasma. Not going to lie, the first time I thought about donating plasma it was because I needed money. Donating plasma is a relatively easy way to get some quick money. It is also an awesome way to help someone. I am not the biggest fan of needles, but for a good cause I think I could do it.
13. Learn two basic soccer skills. I like sports, and at one point I would have considered myself a fairly athletic person. I'm not Mia Hamm or Kerri Walsh but I do enjoy playing sports and being active. I have never take the time to learn soccer, so as a new fan I want to learn some basic soccer skills.
14. Go to a Ball State sporting event. Like I just said, i like sports. I am usually pretty good about going to football and volleyball games but this year I was slacking. I went to just one volleyball game and no football games. Sports are fun, and I genuinely enjoy going to the games so I want to go to at least one event during the next 60 days.
15. Do a Pinterest craft. I am a huge fan of pinterest, and I have an arts and craft board that I have never touched. I would not consider myself a crafty person, but that is no reason to not even try.
16. Give up social media for a day. We live in a world that is completely immersed in twitter, facebook, instagram or dozens of other social media forums. I want to take a day where I put my phone down and just live in the here and now.
17. Read a book. I love to read. While I find myself reading a lot of books in college, none of them are books that I have picked for myself. They are all assigned reading books. I want to read a book that I want to read.
18. Learn to knit a scarf. I like the way homemade things look, especially homemade knitted things. I want to take the time to learn how to make a basic scarf and hopefully pick up a lifelong habit.
19. Write thank you cards. I used to be really good about writing thank you cards when needed. Now a days I am awful at it. I just tend to forget and now there is a list of people I need to write notes to and have forgotten.
20. Learn the basics of photography. I just recently bought a new camera, and I want to learn how to use it. I often times see things or events that I want to capture and have just never had the means to. Now that I have a real camera, I want to use it to capture those moments. I just need to learn how first.
